I am writing to formally dispute the inclusion of certain closed/charge off accounts on my credit reports with each of the three major credit reporting agencies : Equifax, XXXX, and XXXX. Upon a meticulous review of my credit reports, I have identified closed/charge off accounts from the following institutions : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX {$3600.00} ) XXXX XXXX ( {$1200.00} ) XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX {$1400.00} XXXX XXXX XXXX ( {$940.00} XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX {$420.00} XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX {$46000.00} XXXX It is important to note that closed/charge off accounts are considered certificates of indebtedness and their associated income. According to established consumer protection statutes, particularly 15 U.S. Code 6802 and 12 CFR 1016.7, income derived from these closed/charge off accounts can not be reported on credit reports. Furthermore, Title 5 U.S. Code 552a, commonly known as the Privacy Act, reinforces the protection of individuals ' personal information held by federal agencies. An " agency '' in this context refers to any executive department, military department, government corporation, government-controlled corporation, or other establishment in the executive branch of the federal government. This includes the right to ensure the accuracy, relevance, and completeness of records held by these agencies, particularly as they pertain to credit reporting. The Privacy Act underscores the importance of maintaining precise and fair information, giving individuals the authority to dispute and rectify any inaccuracies in their records. Additionally, according to 5 U.S. Code 552a ( b ), Conditions of Disclosure, no agency shall disclose any record contained in a system of records by any means of communication to any person, or to another agency, except pursuant to a written request by, or with the prior written consent of, the individual to whom the record pertains, unless disclosure of the record would be Enclosed with this letter are supporting documents relevant to the aforementioned closed/charge off accounts, including my Federal Trade Commission ( FTC ) report.
