Consumer Complaint: I entered into a settlement agreement with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Credit Card in XX/XX/2020 for {$4400.00}. The payment was processed the first week of XX/XX/. I then received a letter stating that the account was paid off as agreed and the account was closed. Then earlier this year I was contacted by Midland Credit Management collection agency saying that I owed them for the unpaid XXXX account. I disputed it and sent them proof that it was paid, but they are refusing to close the case. They have called repeatedly and sent a letter threatening legal action for a debt that was paid 3 years ago.

Consumer Complaint: I moved from Virginia to Illinois in XXXX after getting married. I did not know I was served to appear in court in Virginia till I returned to Virginia in XXXX and requested that XXXX verify my debt. This is when I saw that there was actually a hearing XX/XX/XXXX. Upon more research, I was served at XXXX, VA where I had not resided at for years. The last residence I had in Virginia was in XXXX XXXX. My addresses are all listed on my credit report so this was not hidden information. This debt was not even obtained in Virginia but in Illinois. They sent me the last XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX had and that my most current address at the time of XXXX XXXX Illinois. The letter sent to me in the debt verification is dated XX/XX/XXXX and also dated to the XXXX XXXX address. So, XXXX knew I was not residing in Virginia, let alone at that address in XXXX. I'd always done a change of address with the post office so if anything, they had me served at the XXXX XXXX address, it would've been forwarded to the most current address. Because I did not show up ( because I was intentionally served at the wrong address ), they won their judgment and for years they have been adding interest and fees to the balance. This year they attempted a garnishment and had a lien on my bank account. I was able to get that dropped due to receiving child support and this caused and IMMENSE amount of stress as I was unable to pay bills and had to borrow money. Also, the bank in which they put a lien on, charged me XXXX that they will not return.

Consumer Complaint: Midland Credit is reporting to my credit bureau that I owe them {$840.00}. I do not recall having two accounts with XXXX XXXX. I am only aware of 1 account which was paid and closed. That reflects on my credit bureau and that was for {$300.00}. The collection company will not send any proof that it belongs to me. No signed contract or anything. I have had fraud done to me. This is why I currently have a fraud alert active. I have disputed through the bureaus but the collection company keeps saying its valid but will not supply any proof. The credit bureaus do not ask for proof, which I feel like they should. To help the consumer. All they do is send the information to the collections. So how is that a dispute? They also added {$1.00} to the account to try to start over the process and statue of limitations. First they said it was {$840.00}. Then as of XX/XX/23 they new balance is {$840.00}. How can they just do that. That has to be illegal.

Consumer Complaint: Debt collector called my mother, they then proceeded to discuss my account information with her. Told her how much was owed, what was owed and tried to collect payment from her thinking that she was me despite her telling them her name. Ive never had any contact with them prior to this and they were threatening her with legal actions- assuming that she was me.

Consumer Complaint: An account on my credit reports with Midland credit for the amount of {$670.00} is listed on my credit report which is another fraudulent account. Ive never used a Midland credit or XXXX XXXX or have any acknowledgment regarding this account as being mine. My information was compromised. This account does not belong to me. It was open, fraudulently. Just like my other complaints Ive contacted the credit Bureau and the company disputed the information with little to no response with the information still appearing on my credit report.
