Consumer Complaint: I have called multiple times over the past few months requesting my letter of declination from Discover and they claim they will mail me and then also email me the requested information. Each time they do not follow through with what they said they will send me. Most recently, I have called them XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX and each representative I speak with says they will send it and then don't. I'm tired of their lies and incompetence in getting the information they are required to send me. Discover claims to have conducted an investigation regarding fraudulent activity on my credit card, yet never informed me of the results of their investigation through written or oral communication. Instead, Discover sent the IRS a Notice of Cancellation of Debt that I am now disputing. It seems unfathomable that a legitimate business would handle this manner so carelessly and come to the wrong conclusion.

Consumer Complaint: Multiple calls from XXXX and XXXX I believe to get resolutions of my multiple disputes from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and several other merchants. I've done my best to pay my bill on time and I wasn't even able to file a dispute on Discover 's website for XXXXXXXX and I had to go to the store since I have yet to hear anything substantial from XXXX I've made two payments on my Discover card in XXXX and given no warning when I was prevented from calling and that same letter from XX/XX/XXXX was mailed to me this week which doesn't help resolve a dispute. This " executive office '' is horrible and I need help from you. They haven't given their last names so I don't know if it's a robot. This company is horrible.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to bring to your attention several violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) outlined in 15 USC 1681 and 15 USC 1681b, which I have identified on my recent credit report. The FCRA clearly states under 15 USC 1681b ( a ) ( 2 ) that a consumer reporting agency may furnish a consumer report only in accordance with the written instructions of the consumer to whom it relates. ( 2 ) Exclusions.Except as provided in paragraph ( 3 ), the term consumer report does not include ( B ) any authorization or approval of a specific extension of credit directly or indirectly by the issuer of a credit card or similar device ; To reiterate, if there are no written instructions from me ( the consumer ) authorizing the inclusion of specific accounts on my credit report, they should not be present. This constitutes a violation of the FCRA, as I never provided written instructions for the inclusion of the following accounts : DISCOVER CREDIT CARD, ACCOUNT XXXX XXXX Furthermore, the FCRA emphasizes the importance of accuracy and fairness in credit reporting. It acknowledges that the banking system relies on fair and accurate credit reporting, and it underscores the need for consumer reporting agencies to exercise their responsibilities with fairness, impartiality, and respect for consumers ' right to privacy ( 15 USC 1681 ( a ) ( 4 ) and 15 USC 1681 ( b ) ).

Consumer Complaint: This is the follow-up complaint to my first with Discover Card regarding a credit of {$100.00} to my account that was not mine but left on my account for 4 months after repeatedly asking them to take it off my account the day I spend the {$1100.00} for months later through time not all in XXXX day, they then acknowledge through emails that it was a mistake on their part and that my account will be charged {$1100.00} we are both at fault here discover and myself, I request I pay this back at {$50.00} a month no interest until paid got a response from XXXX and the executive branch saying I could call her on this matter I've done so several times and have not heard back!! Would like to get this resolved before they start charging me Interest on the mistake they couldn't correct for 4 months who makes a payment of {$1100.00} and doesn't notice it's not applied to their statement and doesn't start calling something's a little fishy here. Hope this isn't a common practice with Discover card for people that don't use their card on a regular basis at a bogus credit to their account just leave it until that person tries to spend it and then they slam it on their account meanwhile there was never a legitimate person sending in a credit that got applied to my account " mistakenly ''

Issue: Getting the loan
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/17 at around XXXX XXXX ET I applied for a personal loan with the company. I asked the representative over the phone at the beginning of the call if the loan can be direct depositied EFT ACH to my personal bank account. I asked how long. She said it can be within a day or so. During the process of taking the application over the phone she said I was approved and asked how I would like the funds, " checking, savings or money market. '' I said, " Oh, it can be send via money market? '' Ya, that would work. I then gave my money market account info. She then submitted my final application and the system came back and said I needed to upload three months documentation of my account. I told her that while I've banked with this bank for more than 1 year, I only opened up the money market account within the past month. She then told me the loan would have to be sent to me by check then. I told her that if she had told me that when I was choosing what account to have it sent to I would have chosen checking. She said she couldn't do anything about it now and I would have to wait 90 days to reapply for the loan. I then cancelled the applicaiton. I was told something during the application process that wasn't correct and now my credit has a hard pull on it which negatively affects my credit. I am being negatively affected by this and the representative didn't care. There has to be loan laws that prevent people taking loan applications to promise things and say things that aren't true. If I had known funds couldn't be transferred to my bank account, I never would have applied.

Consumer Complaint: I asked this credit card company to erase this fraudulent account from my credit history because I did not authorize to open this account. I also did not make any charges with this credit card. My mother impersonated me and opened this account without my knowledge. They sent all bills to her. She knew all my information because she is my mother.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Consumer Complaint: I have been a Discover customer for XXXX years. Each month, I wait for my statement to come out and pay off the statement balance by the payment deadline to avoid accruing interest. I've been receiving emails and promotions from discover, offering 0 % balance transfer for 12 months. In XXXX of XXXX, I accepted a balance transfer offer for {$2500.00} plus an admin fee to clear another credit card. It posted to my account. Next, my statement published, showing a {$5100.00} statement balance, of which {$2500.00} is identified as being at 0 % interest through XX/XX/XXXX. Before the due date deadline, I paid {$2700.00}, reducing the remaining statement amount to about {$2300.00}. In other words, I reduced the remaining balance to an amount less than the balance protected at 0 %. On my most recent statement, I received a {$33.00} interest charge. I chatted with discover and was advised that this is due to interest accruing because I have a " revolving balance ''. I asked the representative to tell me how much I need to pay on the most recent statement to avoid accruing interest on my next statement and was told, more or less, because I have a balance transfer offer, that there is no way to avoid accruing interest on recurring purchases. I think this is the epitome of unfair and deceptive acts and practices, as there is effectively no way avoid accruing interest after taking a 0 % balance transfer offer from discover, besides ceasing to use the card for any other purchase in addition to the balance transfer offer. Not all credit card companies handle balance transfers this way, and I don't think discover has always handled them this way either. I will cease using this card for recurring purchases. I hope the CFPB can help further regulate this behavior.
