Consumer Complaint: In XXXX I reached out to Discover Card via chat to let them know that I was struggling financially. My single parent adult daughter had been laid off from her job and I was trying to help her with eviction, food, and care of my grandchildren. I stated most of my payments were going toward interest and what options were available to me. They offered a fixed rate and a little lower payment contingent on me paying my payment ( not 30 days late ). I wasn't able to complete this request, but did make the full payment for XXXX. I again reached out and was told of the previous payment option and if I did this my late payment would not be reported to the credit bureau. I did agree and paid my first payment on XX/XX/XXXX under the payment plan ( although the amount due is higher than I originally paid and more than I expected. ) I requested and received a copy of my free credit report and to my surprise Discover had reported my payment being 30 days past due in XXXX. I reached out to them yesterday and was told " we are not credit analyst '' I didn't understand that statement. I stated I realized they were not credit analyst, but I was told my account would not be reported past due, but it was. Again, the agent stated they were not credit analyst. I was under the impression that if I entered into the payment agreement and paid I would not be reported to the credit bureaus as being late.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I ordered a service from XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/. The price that it showed was XXXX XXXX, which is approximately XXXX USD. However, they actually billed me XXXX USD, which is way much higher then. Therefore, I would like to dispute the difference because of exchange rate error, which is XXXX USD. I managed to contact the merchant, however they refused to admit they have a pricing error or currency error, and they insist that I used USD as currency of purchase, which is not the case. From the screenshot that I attached, I clearly used ARS as currency of purchase. Therefore, I would like to make that dispute. I also managed to dispute with the credit card company, Discover Bank. I submitted a dispute on XX/XX/XXXX XXXX They rejected my dispute on XX/XX/, and mentioned they will send the information given by the merchant to me. However, they never send that information to me. Therefore, I would like to continue to dispute the difference because of exchange rate error, which is XXXX USD.

Consumer Complaint: There was an ongoing dispute with Discover about a {$500.00} charge on my account for almost two years. I paid the account while it was in dispute then Discover repeatedly removed and put back the charge for two years. During this time they added multiple late fees and interest charges to this charge, even though they claim they don't do that to disputed charges. I requested my account be closed and they owed me money since I had overpaid for everything while it was in dispute. However they never sent me any money. Finally in XX/XX/XXXXXXXX they agree that the charge was fraudulent and sent me a notice saying so, several months after my account was closed and they never sent me a ) refund check for the overpayment b ) my cash back rewards. Since my account was closed I could not log in to check my overpayment status and when I called they could not give me any information and told me someone would call me back and they never did. Today XX/XX/XXXX they decided to list my account as a charge off on the credit bureau even though I have had a negative balance for the last 7 months as they owed me money. Now they are saying I have a {$10.00} past due balance even though they still owe me money. The transactions listed are late fees that should have been removed and it looks like they used my cash back rewards without my consent to go to any fees for late fees and whatever bogus transactions they added to my account. The current transactions listed for 6 months ago do NOT match the old transactions. THIS ACCOUNT WAS IN PERFECT STANDING. IT IS NOT A CHARGE OFF. DISCOVER OWED ME MONEY AND ADDED LATE FEES AND INTEREST TO A BOGUS CHARGE FOR MONTHS, REFUSING TO INVESTIGATE THE FAKE CHARGE. THIS IS DISCOVER 'S DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO MAKE MONEY OFF SOMEONE WHO NEVER PAID LATE OR CARRIED A BALANCE IN THEIR ENTIRE LIFE. NOW THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO MAKE MY ACCOUNT LOOK BAD. Please investigate this and have Discover correct the account and send me my check. Please be advised THIS WAS THE THIRD FAKE CHARGE TO MY ACCOUNT WITHINT ONE YEAR and Discover also refused to investigate the first two, forcing me to pay them.

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: This is a general complaint on interest rates charged by credit cards. Daily I get offers from credit card companies with interest rates in excess of 19 %. These rates are extortion. How can. They justify them when banks are reporting record earnings? There should be limits on maximum rates linked to an economic metric.XXXX

Issue: Applying for a mortgage or refinancing an existing mortgage
Subissue: Application denials
Consumer Complaint: So I applied for a Discover Bank Home Equity loan in XX/XX/2023. I submitted all the documents needed. Then one of the customer service agents called after a couple of days of the application saying everything looks alright except that I had a negative event in my credit report. So one of the loan accounts was 30 days past due in the credit report. It was past due but I did go ahead and make the payment after that but it did not reflect until the next statement in XXXX. But the day of the agent calling me which is XX/XX/XXXX, I did see a notification on my XXXX account saying that the loan account has reported positive activity and the account is current now. So I tried asking him to pull the report again. The agent did but it still did not show the account as updated on their end. I said it was the same day so maybe it might take a bit of time for it to be updated on their end. So I waited until today XX/XX/XXXX, which is almost a month later to reapply again. So I called up the bank to re apply and they went ahead and re applied and pulled the credit report again. But it still says that account is not current. Which makes me think they do not pull current credit report for the credit. They go with the old credit report. This could end up in lot of people with inaccurate credit history being pulled and interest rates based on those. Because of this now I have XXXX credit pulls within last couple of months but an inaccurate credit report on their side and declined loan because of it.
