Consumer Complaint: There were several unauthorized charges made on my Discover account at the end of 2019. As soon as I learned this, I instantly froze the account and contacted Discover. They assured me that consumers are never responsible for unauthorized purchases on their accounts. Several of the charges were found to be fraudulent, so clearly the account had been hacked. However, there are three remaining charges that I am still being charged for, although I did not authorize them.

Consumer Complaint: Discover Financial closed my credit card account inappropriately. I have been a loyal customer to Discover for 10 years and never missed a payment ever. I entered into a payment program in XX/XX/XXXX to pay down my credit card through discover, it was paid off in full in XXXX of XXXX. They never re-opened the account, and then I get an email in XX/XX/XXXX stating that they are closing my account. This has directly negatively affected my credit score that I have been working so hard to rebuild because now my oldest account has been closed and my available credit amount has been decreased by {$9400.00}. How can a company do that to such a loyal customer who has never missed a payment and was only taking advantage of the programs that Discover bolsters and brags about to help people make payments. I was given no answer to why my account was closed and when I spoke to the executive office on XX/XX/XXXX they state " we can not tell you what we look at because it's an internal process. ''

Consumer Complaint: My discover card was lost/stolen in XX/XX/2020 sometime because it was used in my area so I believe it was lost in my area. I reported it to Discover in XX/XX/2020. They claim they tried to notify me by email but I dont access my email a lot. They denied my fraud case because they said previous fraud claim and was used locally and their were returns made on the account also and not usual for someone when they use a lost/stolen card. Said some of the merchants were merchants I used before. I should not be liable for unauthorized charges. If I lost it in my area then someone in the area found it and used it in my area and the returns maybe they wanted to get cash back but could not. As for the other fraud cases, well I am not responsible maybe and sorry if I lost my card before but I am still not liable for unauthorized charges.

Consumer Complaint: My FICO 8 TU score went UP 2 pts to XXXX this month. Discover is saying they reviewed my account and need to reduce my credit limit from {$1600.00} to {$700.00}. I called in. They ASSURED me it was just a computer glitch. Then, mothers day dinner DECLINED. I called again. Yeah we are reducing your credit line. My account has steadily gone from a {$300.00} card to {$1600.00}. My credit is better than at any time so far. This is blatant credit discrimination. I am an XXXX veteran, a protected class for discrimination lawsuits. I asked about COVID19 and why they are HURTING AMERICANS. I then told them I needed my credit line back so my kids dont go hungry tonight. While saying they dont want anyone to go hungry, they refused to undo their discrimination. I have never missed a payment. I have improved my credit. This is blatant risk exposure reduction at the expense of consumers. They are all doing this. HELP, CFPB!! HELP

Consumer Complaint: Discover Student Loans is ceasing disaster relief options for private student loans mid-pandemic with no other options available starting XX/XX/XXXX. Shame on them! Please help spread the word as they are unwilling to offer any help. I am XXXX and now unemployed due to the pandemic. I haven't received any UI or a stimulus check or was able to qualify for a SBA but they insist on charging me interest on my loan which will be about $ XXXX per month and will decimate my credit standing and drag me into further debt. I have had this loan for 13 years and am in exceptional payment standing. They are still unwilling to offer any relief options.

Consumer Complaint: I had my identity stolen and information was used to open credit cards and other accounts. I filed a report with the federal trade commission ( FTC ) and a police report. They gave me a report to send to the credit card companies and the credit bureaus. I did as they asked and the cards that were opened fraudulent were removed but except one credit card ( Discover Credit card ). I have filed multiple claims with them to for an investigation and they keep saying its mine even though I sent the Reports. I filed disputes multiple times with the credit bureaus and discover keeps telling them the account is mine. I was not in the country at the time this discover credit card was opened and I have sent discover the travel itinerary also and they still wouldn't belive this account was fraudulent. They keep making excuses that they can't read the itinerary, even though I have sent it to them multiple times via mail/fax/email. I got fed up with their negligence and called them again to see how I can have this problem resolved. They advised me on a recorded phone call that if I make a payment to them as a settlement even though this account is not mine that they will remove it from my credit reports. I made the payment to them in the amount of {$630.00}. I called back to check with them if they had updated the information with the credit bureaus. Then I was advised that they the representative had made a mistake by telling me the information about getting rid of this problem and that now since I have made a payment on this account that means that I have accepted responsibility for this account. This is fraud. They are defrauding people such as me. I have been defrauded before for my identity and now I'm being defrauded by discover all over again. I need this matter to be looked into and resolved please. Discover needs to be investigated for this fraudulent action they took with me and false promise. If they remove this account from under my name as they promised i will look into taking further action. Thank you very much for your help and I hope to hear back from you soon.
