Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: My account has been charged unauthorized since XX/XX/2020. Since then I have disputed these charges and Discover has given back credit. They continue to let XXXX XXXX to charge my credit account even after several times pointing these charges to Discover being fraudulent. Even after they concluded their investigation and getting lack of documents to prove these charges from XXXX XXXX. They continue to let these charges subside to my account, and when it does. They'll charge my account all the months that I started to dispute these charges. There is no protection to the consumer and this is my last result even after contacting Discover several times for the same issue.

Consumer Complaint: I have a Discover credit card and Discover banking account. The Discover banking information was removed from the Discover credit card account as a payment method. The credit card company is still trying to take it from the bank account, even though I ( even though the payment has been made ( from an account that is not with Discover ) ) removed it, and I have a confirmation email saying the payment method was removed ( Wednesday ) Today, which is Friday my account is now XXXX, showing they have tried to take it out once again. I have tried to talk to fraud about this both from Discover bank and Discover credit card. The Discover credit card fraud lady, XXXX, said the last 4 numbers of my credit card is incorrect, which it is not.. Something is egregiously wrong, and they are not willing to solve it. Basically the credit card side is continually trying to take money from my bank account when the payment method ( which was the bank account ) has been removed ( again, I have the confirmation ) and it was not an automatic payment either. Also, 2 weeks ago from today I could not get into my bank account and they tried to blame it on me. I talked to them the week of XX/XX/XXXX XXXX. I received an overdraft notice on Wednesday, XX/XX/XXXX, and removed the bank payment method from my credit card account once again on XX/XX/XXXX. Today, which si XX/XX/XXXX, I received a notice saying payment I tried to make from the account wont go through? I have not tried to make any payments from this account (? ) I especially think something fraudulent is going on now because the fraud lady said the last 4 of the credit card number I gave her was incorrect, it is the same number on my card. Also, because I had to change my bank account number a couple of weeks ago, it would not let me in even though it was the correct number. I believe I also talked to them on XXXX as well. Also, when I opened the account online and I called in to ask questions one of the reps asked for my full social, which I dont give over the phone-especially since I have learned they are working from home. I complained and was given a new card, but that still does not fix things because I dont think they needed that I had the code or number from when I opened it ...

Consumer Complaint: I initiated a dispute with Discover originally via XXXX Dispute. The company did an investigation and to their findings the transactions were valid. I contacted the company to ask them to look into this further because my account was suspended and my card wasnt available for use during an account review initiated from Discover. I did a complaint with CFPB, because at this point Discover is reporting to the three major credit bureaus that I have missed a payment, and this has dropped my score tremendously. I am in the process of purchasing a home and Discovers actions has caused a hardship that could result in XXXX for my family. Discover responded saying that the purchases were made when the account was Not accessible for use due to an account review. Discover said they would keep reporting this invalid payment history and balance until I tell them not to. That is not a resolution when in fact I never made purchases on this account. The resolution would be to remove the charges and late payment from my account and credit reports until a thorough investigation has been completed. Discover randomly selected my account for review before I could activate my card so I never got a chance to use the card. It is unfair to me and my family that we must suffer a hardship from not being able to purchase a home due to the late payment that Discover is reporting on a closed account.

Consumer Complaint: My Discover Card payment for {$35.00} was not applied to my XX/XX/2020 - XX/XX/2020 statement after enrolling in a Payment Assistant Program due to Hardship and COVID 19, in which I am affected by. My payment was postdated, and mailed off on XX/XX/2020 at XXXX XXXX USPS Post Office in XXXX XXXX. The program lowers the interest rate, and allows me to keep the credit card open for the year the program is in affect. The held back payment of {$35.00} that Discover Card refuse to apply cause the balance to go up to {$950.00}, when it should be {$900.00} with late fee deductions, returned check fees, and a miscellaneous fee of {$11.00} for no reason placed under payments and credits. The program began for me XX/XX/2020, and they received my XX/XX/2020 payment on time from the same post office. I let them know I will make my payments by mail, or money services. Discover Card Services violated the Federal Equal Opportunity Act Notice discriminating against me.

After completing Discovers verification process, I was issued the card and had an open credit limit of {$200.00}. I have never charged one thing to the card. I called on XX/XX/2020 and spoke to customer service person, XXXX at XXXX XXXX CST to ask what exactly they couldn't verify and was told that they have no explanation. I then asked to file a complaint and I have not heard back from Discover.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I signed a private student loan contract with XXXX in XXXX of XXXX when I was XXXX and had just graduated high school. The student loan dispersed in XXXX of XXXX and XXXX of XXXX. When the loan was signed I was informed that there were no other options available, including being told that the government would offer no assistance. I declined a federally subsidized student loan at a lower interest rate to sign off with the XXXX private student loan. They rushed the process and brought my family in as co-signers on the loan without providing all the information. In XXXX my loan was sold to Discover Student Loans. I have made payments over the twelve years totaling {$15000.00} on a loan that was for {$12000.00}. I continue to make payments of between {$50.00} to {$100.00} a month and the loan will be paid off in 20 years according to the company. When I asked XXXX about why I would be pushed into a private loan instead of a federally subsidized loan they told me that they could not provide any information and that I lost my opportunity. This loan has damaged my credit, the credit of my family member and caused stress in monthly finances of my family. The loan was predatory from the beginning but only recently have I come across all the information that was denied me at the time of the signing.

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: Company reported the incorrect balances in XXXX, XXXX & XXXX. Investigation didnt resolve the problem. Only made it worse. My credit score decreased by 79 points because the company reported balances that were not equivalent to the actual statement balances. Theyre reporting balances AFTER the statement closes which are higher. I was denied credit and denied credit line increases because my utilization has been at 58 % or higher because of their errors instead of being at the recommended 30 % or less.
