Consumer Complaint: DISCOVER FINANCIAL SERVICES IS MAKING ME LIABLE FOR CHARGES THAT WERE COMMITTED BY MY ROOMATE IN MY ABSENCE. I WAS NOT IN THE COUNTRY AT THE MOMENT WHEN THE CHARGES WERE MADE. I PROVIDED DISCOVER SUBSTANTIAL EVIDENCE TO PROVE THAT THE DEBT DOES NOT BELONG TO ME AND INDEED IT WAS DONE BY MY ROOMMATE AGAINST MY WILL OR ALLOWANCES. FOR THESE REPORTS I SWORE UNDER OATH THAT THE FORGOING IS CORRECT OR I CAN FACE CRIMINAL CHARGES. I WOULD NEVER LIE AND RISK MY PROFESSIONAL CAREER OVER BAD CREDIT OR FRAUD CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT. HAVING BAD CREDIT IS MUCH BETTER THAN BEING AN CRIMINAL AND NOT BEING ABLE TO WORK. AGAIN DISCOVER NEVER OBLIGED THAT MY DEBT WAS NOT DUE TO ME AND MY ROOMMATE HAS BEEN USING MY CARD FRAUDULENTLY FROM XXXX TO XX/XX/XXXX. I HAVE SEND DISCOVER FINANCIAL SERVICES NUMEROUS IDENTITY THEFT REPORTS, POLICE REPORTS AND EVERY-TIME I RECEIVE AN VAGUE RESPONSE THAT THE EVIDENCE IS NOT SUFFICIENT AND THEY REQUIRE MORE TO HELP ME WITH THE CASE. IN THE BEGINNING OF XXXX I FAXED OVER DISCOVER FINANCIAL SERVICES AN UPDATED POLICE REPORT FROM XXXX POLICE DEPARTMENT AND ALSO CALLED DISOVER FRAUD PROTECTION SERVICES AT XXXX. I WAS TOLD I WILL BE CONTACTED BY THE FRAUD INVESTIGATOR.I WAITED 2 WEEKS FOR THE REPORT TO BE UPDATED AND NOTHING OCCURRED. SO I CALLED BACK ON XX/XX/XXXX TO CONFIRM IF THEY HAVE RECEIVED THE NEW POLICE REPORT FROM XXXX POLICE DEPARTMENT AND ARREST REPORT BECAUSE MY ROOMATE WAS ARRESTED ON CRIMINAL CHARGES. AGAIN DISCOVER SAID THEY HAVE NOT RECIEVED THE FAXED DOCUMENTS, FOR WHICH I HAVE CONFIRMATION THAT IT WAS SENT TO THE RIGHT PHONE NUMBER. I FEEL LIKE DISCOVER FINANCIAL SERVICES IS BEING MANIPULATIVE AND NOT TRYING TO HELP. THIS IS CORPORATE GREED AND MAKING CUSTOMERS PAY EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE BEEN VICTIM OF FRAUD. I SPOKE TO XXXX LAST TIME AND WAS TOLD TO FAX THE DOCUMENTS AGAIN, I TOLD HER " I DONT HAVE MONEY LEFT TO KEEP SENDING DOCUMENTS '' it does COST {$2.00} PER PAGE. DEAR FTC PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS FRAUD CASE, DISCOVER IS NOT BEING COOPERATIVE AND THIER WORKERS ARE BEING MANIPULATIVE AGAINST ME. EVERY TIME I TRIED TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE, IT IS ALWAYS OVERLOOKED. PLEASE HELP ME I CAN NOT PAY FOR THIS FRAUD ACCOUNT, MY ROOMATE MADE THE CHARGES

Consumer Complaint: I placed a total of 3 balance transfers in the month of XX/XX/XXXX. Two of those transfers were charged a 4 % fee and a 0 % interest rate. Those were of the amount of {$1500.00} and {$800.00} dollars. The third transfer was for 3.99 % with a 3.99 % rate. The XXXX percent balance transfers were completed on XX/XX/XXXX and are to expire on XX/XX/XXXX. The 3.99 transfer was completed on XX/XX/XXXX and is to expire on XX/XX/XXXX. I was told my payments would pay off the earliest balance first. Last month I looked at my statement and I see I have paid almost the whole 3.99 % balance while I have a majority of the XXXX percent balance left. After this month, I will be forced to have the balance revert to my current 18.24 % rate when my 3.99 rate was not set to expire until XXXX of next year. I contacted Discover along with a supervisor and all they did was lower my APR for only new purchases to 16.24 %. This is an unfair business practice as they are going to collect much more interest this way.

Consumer Complaint: Three problems : ( 1 ) The company has repeatedly threatened to inform credit agencies of my delinquency. Although this is stated in their policies, ... ( 2 ) ... They demand more than 50 % of income is paid per month towards my student loan debt. I consistently request with phone calls and in-account secure messages to accomodate my income and adjust my payments to at most 40 % of my income ( I request approximately 400-500 USD per month at maximum and this is roughly that ). I also had requested deferment because of the coronavirus a few months ago in XXXX 2020, but they had rejected my request - even though they have a coronavirus relief program - because I was in delinquency. They consistently give me only short-term solutions for a few months at a time, but the payments then are raised even further because of interest after the short-term help is finished, despite the fact that my income hasn't improved. ( 3 ) I requested a student deferment and they rejected my application stating that my university isn't accredited. I gave them the webpage profile on the Department of Education website verifying that my university is accredited. And now I must pay back the almost 800 USD in student loan debt per month in addition to my roughly 200 USD per month for my course assessments in my XXXX program? ( I'm a XXXX. ) It's not that I don't pay anything. I often pay back as much as I am capable every month so I don't starve or can't pay for basic necessities.

Consumer Complaint: Discover Card erroneously placed a charge on my account in XXXX. The Discover account representative acknowledged this error and said that it would be reversed and corrected. It was not. The charge was still on the next monthly statement. On XX/XX/2020, I called again and spoke with the head of the accounting department who assured me that the erroneous charge would be removed within two days. Today, I received another statement, and found that this issue still is not resolved. I call Discover again, and was told the matter was still under investigation. This is completely different from what was stated on my prior calls.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2016 I opened a Discover credit card. I always make my payments on time. During the time of my divorce i was late on some payments. I since then have paid of all the entire balance and the account has been closed. I had during the time of my divorce spoke to a manager at Discover who assured me that they understood my situation. I was told that if i paid of all of the balance on the account that not only would the account be closed but that they would remove any delinquency reporting on my credit score. As of XX/XX/XXXX the delinquency is still reporting on my credit. I have a XXXX $ balance and the account has been paid off for a really long time. I called again and another manager reassured me that everything would get removed as of last billing cycle. IT has not. At this point I am trying to get a loan for a mortgage and this is severely affecting my ability to qualify. Discover had promised me by now that this would all be resolved.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I ordered 50 XXXX face masks from XXXX to help with this coronavirus pandemic. Shortly after, I received a package from them but it wasn't face masks, it was a box filled with newspaper. I submitted a complaint to the website to no avail, then I went to my credit card company, Discover. Discover investigated my dispute and then went on to side with the medical supply company simply because they sent proof that they shipped a package to me. I know I got a package, but the problem wasn't me not receiving it, it was the fact that I was scammed and I received NEWSPAPER rather than the face masks I ordered.

Consumer Complaint: Discover states that a letter was sent in XXXX, 2020, alerting me that my account would be closed due to inactivity. I never received the letter. I was alerted by a credit reporting service that my account had been closed on XX/XX/XXXX. I called Discover on XX/XX/XXXX and told their representative that they should have sent a warning electronically through their app or online service center. This was an older account that I wanted to keep. Had I received that warning, I would have done what was necessary to keep it in good standing. Instead, during a world wide pandemic, when people are struggling financially and not going out to shop and eat, my account has been closed and I no longer have access to that credit. Furthermore, my score took a hit for this cancellation.
