Subissue: Problem with balance transfer
Consumer Complaint: I set up an account with Discover card company. The agreement was no interest for 21 months on balance transfers. I transfered a little over {$8000.00}. I paid aprrox. {$300.00} a month for a year. Then I noticed discover started charging me interest. they said I had paid off all the balance transfer. Impossible as I had only paid {$3600.00}. I had a bad charge on the card of about {$5000.00}. When the charge was finally settled discover added the XXXX to the balance transfer and said the agreement was satified. The bad charge was NOT a balance transfer. They then started charging me the normal interest rate for charges. I called many times and talked to different people ; I talked to a supervisior and they said they would look into it. I kept calling but no answers. I transfered {$4000.00} out of the account and I am trying to get the rest transfered out, but mean while I am paying interest which I should not have to pay.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Delay in processing application
Consumer Complaint: I applied for and was approved for a secured credit card from Discover. I sent them the money and for a period of time that is excessive, they have yet to release my card so that I can use it. While they sent me the card, I can not use it because they now claim that they are doing a " confirmation review ''. This now includes a request for my tax returns and bank statements. I posit this is something that should have been done PRIOR to taking my money which they are holding and most likely earning interest on. If they were not going to approve the application or if they were going to do several more layers of review, this should have been done prior to accepting money which is tied up. I can only believe this is an operating policy which profits them at the expense and inconvenience of customers.

Consumer Complaint: A reservation was made for a hotel for a particular type of room. Checkin was completed and went to room. The room was not as described and an attempt to have problem corrected went ignored by the hotel. Hotel corporate was contacted regarding the reservation guarantee and was advised the hotel is in control. No one was honoring guarantee. A dispute was filed with discover and ruled against me stating I signed for it. However they have failed to explain since what the hotel is presenting is undated checkin paperwork that is fraudulent by combining documents. They are only accepting of the signature and not accepting anything else.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020 I purchased the software from XXXX for protection of my computer. When it was loaded into my computer I could not use Internet because that software started to block access by firewall. I had to remove the software in order to get access to the Internet. When I saw the charge on XX/XX/2020 I called Discover Card and disputed the charge. I did so after calling XXXX who told me that they know about this problem and I was supposed to contact their technical support in attempt to resolve the issue. First of all, I did not about their technical support because their e-mail did not notify me about existence of such support, and then they told me that my request was supposed to be within 30 days. My call ion XX/XX/2020 was exactly on the XXXX day. Since XXXX refused to give me a credit I called Discover card and disputed the charge. Discover card gave me a credit but then I received my new statement that charge of {$39.00} was again posted to our account on the same day of XX/XX/2020. When I called Discover card XX/XX/2020 I was told by Mr. XXXX from Ohio office that I was supposed to have a written confirmation from XXXX that their software prevented me from accessing Internet and that my call on XX/XX/2020 was on 31 first day which is not true because by legal standards counting starts on the following day and XXXX had 30 days span. Mr. XXXX refused to give us a credit for that merchandise which does not exist on my computer because it was faulty.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I have variable rate loans with Discover Student Loans. Since rates have dropped so low I inquired about locking in a fixed rate. I was told to refinance the loan through a new application. I was ultimately denied by Discover, my current loan holder. My fear is that they did this because a fixed rate may lower the interest rate that they collect. I am currently at +4 % over XXXX, and I do believe that it would be lower with an updated fixed-rate, and Discover denied my credit because they would make less by doing so. Furthermore, it makes no sense that they wouldn't refinance a loan at the lower rate seeing as how I am more able to make the payments on time with the lower rate than I was at the higher rates seen in previous years. I am currently making almost {$200.00} per month less in payments than I have in times past. In times past, I have also struggled to make payments and they are unwilling to work with me and then they get to charge late fees, etc. Perhaps another reason to deny my refinance.

Issue: Struggling to pay your bill
Subissue: Credit card company won't work with you while you're going through financial hardship
Consumer Complaint: Hi, I wrote to Discover numerous times. I explained the situation since we were experiencing financial hardship. We had to move due to family health. Also, I lost my checking account. In the past 9 months, we have had 3 hospitalizations and numerous doctor 's visits. The medical condition now worsened to a severe status. XXXX and Social Security does not really cut it at this point. We may need to check into Affordable housing solutions since we barely paying rent and we receive numerous disconnection notices. I asked for forgiveness. I asked to cease contacting me a number of times. However, they keep calling about 3 times a day. Right now, with no assistance. Most calls are robocalls. They seem to repeat the same threats and the situation has not improved at all especially with this Covid-19 crisis. Can you help? This stress is not helping in the current crisis. They say they won't contact, but they continue to do so. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: There is an EXTRA {$2500.00} in Discover Card balance that SHOULDN'T be there!!! Discover is taking SEVERAL WEEKS to resolve this problem. I am FURIOUS!!!!! On XX/XX/XXXX I did a balance transfer ( on-line ) of {$2500.00} to my Discover Card ( from my XXXX XXXX card ). Several days later it still wasn't posted on either card. on XX/XX/XXXX I called XXXX XXXX and Discover to investigate. I learned a single digit was incorrect, so it didn't go through. On XX/XX/XXXX Discover representative " XXXX '' told me the origianl {$2500.00} wouldn't ever go through, so we initiated a NEW balance transfer of {$3000.00}. The very next day I saw in my XXXX XXXX account that the original {$2500.00} was approved! I was shocked. I called Discover ( XX/XX/XXXX ), spoke with " XXXX '' who told me to contact XXXX XXXX and explain the error. I did and they fixed the error on their end immediately! But Discover has still NOT FIXED the error on my Discover balance. {$5500.00} has been transferred from my XXXX XXXX ( XXXX card ) when it should only be {$3000.00}. I WANT THIS EXTRA {$2500.00} REMOVED FROM MY DISCOVER BALANCE IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've called multiple times. Been on hold for each time for 40-45 minutes and then on long phone calls with various agents, each 30-45 mins ). My last call was with " XXXX '' in the Disputes dept on XX/XX/XXXX. He reasurred me the issue would be resolved by XX/XX/XXXX. It is XX/XX/XXXX and STILL AN EXTRA {$2500.00} is listed in my DISCOVER balance. I am again ON HOLD with Discover as I write this ( 33 minutes so far, no answer ... ) to once again try and move this along. DISCOVER IS ACTIVELY REFUSING TO CORRECT THIS ERROR which is costing me an extra {$2500.00} I never spent and DO NOT OWE!!!!!
