Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Investigation took more than 30 days
Consumer Complaint: I had a secured Discover Card in XXXX that became overdue, then was closed due to personal and financial problems I was having a few months after obtaining the card. The account was sold to a collection agency. Now, some 3 years later I have paid off every dollar and cent related to the account to the collection agency listed below. The problem is the account still shows on my credit reports as closed/derogatory, even though I paid it in full. I have written debt forgiveness letters to Discover and mailed them by USPS delivery confirmation mail to Discover, never to hear a word/response. I simply want the account TOTALLY DELETED from all my credit, or instead of showing as derogatory/ closed, they can show it as paid in full, because it has been. Again the card issuer was Discover however the Collection Agency was XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, NY XXXX at Phone number XXXX They sent me a letter saying the Discover account was paid in full as of XX/XX/XXXX with their reference number XXXX. I desperately ask this negative be completely deleted-removed, or reworded to show paid in full. I am trying very hard to obtain my first ever Federal Rural Housing Loan and my XXXX scores are close, but due to this negative, they are not close enough. This one negative from Discover is killing my chances of getting the loan. If I still owed Discover money I could understand the bad wording on my credit report, but I do not owe Discover a cent so they should delete this for me at the least, or change the wording to PAID AS AGREED. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX XXXX I anxiously await your influence,

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I got a letter from Discover Personal Loans. Rejecting me because of slow payments of debts, too high debt ratio, and no history of installment loan payments. I had just gotten a loan from Discover personal loan in XX/XX/XXXX for {$2500.00} payable in 48 months and I paid that loan in 6 months in XX/XX/XXXX. Then in XXXX they sent me a letter with the credit reporting agencies they used, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and with one I never heard of XXXX XXXX. Then Yesterday ( XX/XX/XXXX ) they made me aware of another credit reporting agency they used XXXX who are these people? I would like to file a complaint against Discover Personal Loan, XXXX and XXXX XXXX for using erroneous information to deny me a loan. Also I want my correct credit score added to my credit information. I had just gotten credit reports from XXXX, XXXX and XXXX and they were good.

Consumer Complaint: I am a victim of identity theft. Due to the Corona Virus pandemic we are all facing which had me sitting at home and I saw the recent news about multiple XXXX data breaches I decided to look at my credit reports from the 3 Major Credit Bureaus. I found that someone has used m personal information to obtain a credit card. I contacted the credit bureaus and I was told to file and Identity Theft report which I am doing right now. I am writing a request that you block the following fraudulent information from my credit report. I have no idea how the theft took place. I also have no knowledge of any suspects. I did not receive any money, goods, or services as a result of identity theft. Please let me know if you need any other information from me to block this information from my credit report. I appreciate your effort to get this matter resolved. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: I had 3 loan accounts with discover bank student loan, all of the accounts were paid in full with a settlement and closed in XXXX. But Discover Student Loan Crop still state that my accounts are still opened and still delinquent because in XXXX, those accounts were delinquent. HOEVER, Delinquent accounts are those have not made at least a minimum payment for 30 days or more. BUT, my accounts were paid and closed after XXXX, in year of XXXX. I called Discovery Student Loan, their answer was very confused. they said doesn't matter these accounts were paid in full and closed after XXXX, they are still dispute the amount in XXXX. I felt confused because when I paid them in full in XXXX, these 3 accounts were not delinquent anymore, the company should not file delinquent collection for the delinquent amount in XXXX. I am also afraid that they will ask me to pay them any amount that I own them in any year before XXXX when the accounts were paid in full and closed. The delinquent they put on my 3 accounts are WRONG!

Consumer Complaint: During the month of XXXX I had a failed payment for my credit card through Discover Card. When attempting to sign into my online account I was denied access and immediately called customer service to find out why. I was informed that I needed to send in documentation requested by the fraud department on XX/XX/2020. I was unable to make a payment until then. I faxed all requested documentation in asap. While waiting for a response or update I called about my payment on XX/XX/XXXX and was told that it would be deferred without penalty or late credit reporting. I still hadn't received any notification about my sent in documentation. When attempting to make a payment for the month of XXXX I was told that my card had been closed without an explanation. One week later I received a credit monitoring notification that Discover reported my account as 30 days late, although I was told that the payment was deferred. I've made multiple phone calls without explanation or reason as what is going on with my account or its closure. I had my brother, an authorized account user, call with me and finally received a frustrating explanation. Discover explained that my account was closed because some of my documents that I faxed were illegible. They stated that they sent a letter to my home on XX/XX/2020, explaining that the documents needed to be resent or the account would be closed. I never received this notice or any other correspondence regarding the matter. I also never received an account closure letter that Discover says was sent on XX/XX/2020. To make matters worse although I did not have online access to my account nor was able to make a phone payment, I received another notice today that my account is 60 days past due. Discover has caused the credit score of my brother and myself drop significantly with lack of information and communication. This has impacted my brother drastically, as he is an XXXX service member currently stationed in XXXX and is 30 days away from returning to the US and scheduled to close on his home mortgage. As a XXXX XXXX working multiple jobs as well as dealing with family XXXX issues this has added a heavily undue amount of stress and terribly blemished my otherwise unblemished credit report.
