Consumer Complaint: Discover is charging me usurious interest rates. They are charging these rates during an unprecedented era of low rates and during a pandemic. They have refused to lower my rates despite multiple requests.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I am the Guarantor of two student loans with Discover Bank, one dated XX/XX/XXXX, the other dated XX/XX/XXXX. We signed identical Notes for the two loans. Both are variable interest rate loans. From inception until XX/XX/XXXX, we received no information or correspondence on either of these loans either from Discover or any loan servicer ( if there was one ). Recently, the deferral period ended and Discover decided to contact us. We note that the current interest rate on one loan is 7 % and on the other is 11 %. We questioned this with Discover. Item I4 on the Promissory Note describes how the interest rate is calculated. However, Item I4 refers one to the Disclosure Statement. We have requested the Disclosure Statement from Discover and after many months, Discover informed us that they don't have it. We have no recollection of receiving it and indeed do not understand how loans with identical terms can have such different interest rates. We have another Discover Student Loan and the variable interest rate is 6.75 %, so it does appear that the 11 % interest rate is an anomaly. We are also prejudiced by the fact that Discover did not send us any information on these loans for 11 years, so we did not have the opportunity to contest the interest rate charged, or take other action, such as refinancing the loan at a lower interest rate with another lender. Discover can not justify the 11 % interest rate, but refuses to recalculate it.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 did not go through when it was on auto-bill. I reached out to the company and they said that they saw the payment try to come out of the bank but it was rejected. They never notified me of the rejection and gave me this late payment. I now can not get a new car of this mark on my credit and the company will not help me with this unfair situation.

Consumer Complaint: I called Discover about a ghost transaction that was not showing up on my credit card statement as Pending or Posted, but was showing a transaction on Discover 's end. The amount was for {$80.00} and so I spoke to XXXX from Utah Call Center at approximately XXXX on XXXX and I explained what happened after I got a declination from Discover. I informed her, that while I do keep track of my charges, I was not going to keep an XXXX spreadsheet of miscellaneous and unplanned charges due to the fact that it was a credit card and not a debit card. I have a Pdf for the CFPB if there is a way to upload the printed and scanned documents to show the discrepancies in the account balances. It was not an XXXX issue, as they will not ship the items until the billing was approved by a credit or debit instrument- it was and is Discover 's fault for the declination of {$61.00}, because as I said, I was not going to go through both systems to see which transactions were listed on each account when I know that XXXX will not ship an item unless the item was paid for using either method.

Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: From XX/XX/2020 through the present. I have been receiving communication from Discover in Statements on Alleged debt that is owed. I am the original creditor ; I am Protected as a consumer against the alleged debt 15 USC 1692a ( 3 ). According to 15 USC 1692e ( 11 ), Failure to disclose in the initial written communication with the consumer and also, if the initial communication with the consumer is oral, in that initial oral communication, that the debt collector is attempting to collect a debt and that any information obtained will be used for that purpose. Consumer Complaint: Discover is now requiring all credit card customers to link any Discover bank accounts with their " single login ''. I do use online access for credit cards but I never use online access for any banking. Why? Because the risks are so different. It is useful to check merchant actions to the credit card and my risk is limited to {$50.00} by statute. There is no limit to risk with on-line banking and the convenience over paper is minimal.
