Consumer Complaint: C ontacted discover bank to report unauthorized charges. Discover provided provisional credits for charges . Weeks later -credits were reversed contacted discover again and was told charges were found to be valid based on my information was attached to the charges I advised them my information was compromised and the card was stolen, they told me nothing can be done. Another charge was from XXXX from a previous order I had returned XXXX has issued the refund and later on I found out they recharged me without my authorization. I told discover about this they closed the card and issued me a credit on that witch was reversed and they told me later on XXXX took back their credit because I returned the wrong item?! I said they issued me a refund after the merchandise was returned. Then weeks later with out my authorization made a completely new charge manually entered and recharged the amount they still have the returned merchandise! That is fraud and discover will not fix this.

Issue: Other features, terms, or problems

Subissue: Problem with rewards from credit card

Consumer Complaint: I had a Credit card from Discover in XXXX, but I lost the card in the year of XXXX. So I called Discover to close my account. I have paid all my balances at that time. However, I kept receiving emails from them, saying that I have payment due ( ~ {$63.00} ) to them. Finally in XXXX, when I returned US, I called them back, ask them why I still got emails from you and have payment due even though I have already closed account many years ago. They explained that it was because it was the cash reward associated with my card, it is the money they owed to me. So they asked my address to send the check to me. However, the check was never reached to me. Then the worst thing the Discover did was to charge the check they sent to me on my closed account. Because they send it twice, so they acclaim that I own them ~ {$130.00}. Ever since, they kept sending me emails saying that I own them XXXX usd, and the amount is kept growing. I called them many times from XXXX, as I left US in the summer of XXXX. With hours of long international calls, they finally admit that it was their mistake in the system, they should not have charged me for that. However, even now I still need to receive the same email for the payment due acclaim but with different amount, this time is {$84.00} ... I have no idea how did they make such random numbers and why they could not respect their customer and give them some peace even though they have closed the account many years ago.

Issue: Getting a credit card

Subissue: Application denied

Consumer Complaint: I had a Discover Card that was closed apparently Discover wanted me to submit some documentation to them about a secured account that I opened up and I never received notification so they took it upon themselves to close the account and send me back my deposit this was XX/XX/XXXX we are now going into XX/XX/XXXX since then each and every time regardless of my credit score I try to apply for a Discover card iamb declined for the following reasons status of existing/prior discover card account what is this mess? I could understand if I had a charge back with Discover I could understand if I was late I can understand if I owe Discover money none of those things fall in line I believe this is a bogus frivolous excuse to decline people for credit putting them on a blacklist and blackballing them when I speak to discover staff They have no Idea why Im still on the blacklist. Of course the company is not going to refer to themselves as having one but they clearly do because multiple countless times I have been denied creditFor the most frivolous ridiculous reason.

Issue: Closing your account

Subissue: Company closed your account

Consumer Complaint: Discover closed my credit card account following a clear verification error. I was asked to submit a IRS Consent Form 4506-T, and additionally I voluntarily submitted the last three months of bank statements as supplementary materials to aid the verification. At no point was I told what Discover needed to verify. Given that I recently moved address, and that my income level changed this year owing to my wife getting her first job, I believe an error was made in the verification - neither of these pieces of information would have been reflected in my previous tax returns. After phoning Discover I was told that closing my account was a " business decision '' and no further actions could be taken - why can Discover not tell me what the verification issue was and provide me with an opportunity to provide the correct documentation? I have never missed a payment and until this incident had a very favorable opinion of Discover, but I can no longer recommend that others do business with a company that will just arbitrarily close your account.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement

Consumer Complaint: I previously disputed a charge to my Discover credit card account in the amount of {$250.00}. As I explained before, this charge came from XXXX XXXX XXXX. This clinic was illegally providing medical treatment to unsuspecting patients. They were falsely advertising their business as medical spa when it was actually a day spa. They have no medical doctor at their clinic and all medical assessment was done by either a nurse or esthetician when it should have a medical doctor. If I had known earlier of their illegal activities I would gone to legitimate med spa clinic for my laser treatment. They deceived me and took advantage of me. They also put my health at risk. Therefore, I ask for a full refund of {$250.00} through charge back. After Discover received a treatment form and sales receipt from the vendor, they concluded that the transaction was legitimate and decided to take the side of the merchant. I feel Discover did not do a due diligence when making an investigation. The documents they received were not enough to establish the legitimacy of the transactions. I only have one simple request at this point. If Discover could reopen the case, they need to contact XXXX XXXX XXXX to provide a one page copy of Fictitious Name permit issued by the medical board showing the name of their business XXXX XXXX XXXX. This is the only proof that their business is legit and authorized to provide medical treatment. Otherwise, Discover needs to issue me a full refund by charging back the vendor. Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit

Consumer Complaint: Asked for increase, which was refused for reasons not explained properly. Card payments were never late. card company refused to pull credit ( it is excellent ), and credit department rep. said mother XXXX of XXXX XXXX. CFPB needs to investigate Discover, i believe they have blaklists or tainted cardholder lists. my request get teated unfairly, while my wife 's do not. she gets points automatically, i do not. She gets increases automatically, I do not. These are tough times, but no one needs to tell me about Covid 19 at Discover. Just issue the increase.
