Consumer Complaint: In mid XXXX I received a call from a collection agency telling me that I was going to be served court papers that day if I did not pay {$2600.00} from a credit card that I had 15 years prior. This company, XXXX XXXX threatened me that if I did not pay that day that I would be having to appear in court and pay triple that amount in attorney fees. I had recently had a baby and they used scare tactics that made me terrified that if I didn't pay right then I would be owing thousands more. In fear, I signed their paper and paid the fee on my discover card. After the call, my husband came home to me in tears and told me that the cc in question had already gone through collections years prior and that the statue of limitations on the in question charge was past. I immediately called the company back and tried to cancel the payment and they were unwilling to do so. I asked them for the discovery on the card and they said I would receive it in the mail. I had not received any notifications of this prior to their call ( by phone or mail ). And have yet to receive any detailed info that I asked for regarding the card and past payments. I retracted my signature to them by phone and email hours after and they have ignored every request I have made for more info. I opened a claim with the fraud department on my discover cc and they refused to refund the money as well. I was vulnerable and lied to as well as threatened in regard to paying this and they have denied giving me any information that I am entitled to regarding this 15 year old cc balance. Discover card opened a dispute but said it was not valid. I have tried working with discover as well as XXXX XXXX and nobody has helped me in this matter

Consumer Complaint: I have been a discover card member since XXXX without issue. On XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX fraudulent charges were made on my card at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have never purchased anything from XXXX XXXX XXXX. I noticed these on XX/XX/XXXX and called Discover right away to alert them to the fraud. The day after I alerted discover ( XX/XX/XXXX ), 4 more fraudulent charges came in from XXXX XXXX XXXX. The following day ( XX/XX/XXXX ), 4 more fraudulent charges came in ( again! ) from XXXX XXXX XXXX. I called discover again on XX/XX/XXXX inquiring why they are continuing to allow these charges to come in. They said that they made an error processing the original fraud alert. I requested to speak to a supervisor. They indicated a supervisor would call back within 24-48 hours. A supervisor never returned my call. I called back on XX/XX/XXXX to speak to a supervisor again. Again I was told 24-48 hours. Nobody returned my call. I called back on XX/XX/XXXX. Again, I was told 24-48 hours. Again, nobody returned my call. It appears that Discover has still not opened an investigation into this matter. Nobody returns my calls and I have no way of knowing what is going on with my account. To prevent further fraudulent charges from XXXX XXXX XXXX, I was forced to close my discover card on XX/XX/XXXX. I am very disheartened to see that discover does not investigate fraudulent purchases.

Consumer Complaint: We were charged {$520.00} on XXXX XX/XX/23 by a scammer posing as XXXX XXXX customer service, we were told the charge was for the cost of our new tickets, but XXXX XXXX has confirmed there was no such charge on their end. Disputed this with discover and submitted supporting documentation but they sided with the scammer and notified us XX/XX/23. We were unable to contact the scammer as their old phone number is no longer valid, discover claims to have contacted the merchant, not sure how as they disappeared.

Consumer Complaint: My identity was stolen and the financial transaction was done by online and by email, not in person! I never opened any credit card with discover. This was done all electronically and by falsely intercepting mail from a bogus address. Also the identification used in this transaction was fake. I have a Georgia identification. Not a Florida in which I can provide as an attachment to this complaint. I will be suing discover if this fraudulent account is not removed in 7 days. I have hired an attorney to seek damages and continue litigation. This has affected my life and credit worthiness. I never received any monetary compensation or was awarded any use of this credit card and never agreed to any financial contract with discover bank. 1. COLLECTION agency did not send me anything to verify this account so how did you verify it? Where is the valid documentation? Please remove this account immediately. Section 623 states that if an account can possibly be inaccurate there must be an address conspicuously listed and if not this COLLECTION account can not report. Please remove this account immediately. DISCOVER BANK Account Number : XXXX I am a victim of identity theft please remove it from my report. Please accept this final written OFFER OF SETTLEMENT BEFORE LITIGATION as my attempt to amicably resolve your continued violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act regarding your refusal to delete INACCURATE, Unverifiable and Invalidated information from my consumer file. I intend to pursue litigation in accordance with the FCRA to seek relief and recover all monetary damages that I may be entitled to under Section 616 and Section 617 if the INACCURATE, Unverifiable and Invalidated items listed below are not deleted immediately. Its rules cover how a consumer 's credit information is obtained, how long it is kept, and how it is shared with othersincluding consumers themselves. 2. What is a FCRA violation? Creditors give reporting agencies inaccurate financial information about you.
