Consumer Complaint: I am a victim of identity theft. Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, we are all facing which has me sitting still at home and I saw the recent news about the multiple XXXX Data breaches. I decided to look at my credit reports from the 3 major credit bureaus and found that someone had used my Identity. I have no idea how the theft took place. I also have no knowledge of any suspects. I did not receive any money, goods, or services as a result of identity theft. I contacted the Credit Bureau and told me to file an Identity Theft Report which I am doing. I appreciate your effort in getting this matter resolved. Thank you. Please let me know if you need any other information from me to block this information from my credit report. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: I received an email XX/XX/XXXX from Discover offering {$45.00} back when I activated a new membership using my Discover Card before XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX. I activated the membership on XXXX XXXX, XXXX in store using my Discover Card as directed in the email cited above. I told the XXXX XXXX associate I was using my card for the promotion and they said that should be everything I need to do. On XXXX XXXX, XXXX, I reached out to Discover to inquire about when I could expect reimbursement ( as it didnt show up on the statement Posted the prior week ). I told them the steps I took and was told that nothing else was required and I should receive the credit within 3 billing cycles. Today, XX/XX/XXXX, I reached out to Discover to ask about the credit and why I hadnt received it. I was told that I am not eligible for reimbursement for some unknown reason that XXXX XXXX and Discover Card can not communicate openly about and that I need to go to XXXX XXXX and find out why I am ineligible for Discover Cards promised reimbursement. They said they do not manually apply reimbursements and that if it didnt happen automatically, something was wrong and I would not receive it. They promised to share my feedback with the higher ups, but refused to do anything to fix the problem.

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: Original Complaint # XXXX : In XX/XX/XXXX, I started a personal loan for {$12000.00} through Discover at 18.99 % interest to pay off outstanding credit card debt with other creditors that were charging high repayment interest rates. In early XXXX, I began restructuring my overall debt portfolio and contacted Discover to negotiate new terms for the personal loan. Discover made only one offer which would lower my monthly payment by extending the period of the loan. With no other options, I accepted this one offer for a lower monthly payment. The interest rate remained the same. In XX/XX/XXXX, I located a not for profit debt consolidation company XXXX XXXX. XXXX contacted Discover and my other debtors to restructure my debt. Although my Discover credit card debt was accepted into the plan with a lower interest rate ( 9.99 % ), Discover declined to do the same for the Discover personal loan because I was already enrolled in the repayment program I had accepted before contacting XXXX. I have contacted Discover at least three times since they declined accepting the loan into the XXXX plan. Discover replied to my first inquiry with a letter in XX/XX/XXXX which explained that the loan was declined because it was already in the payment assistance program accepted earlier. In XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, I called and spoke to Discover representatives, and both times Discover declined to make any changes to the loan that would allow the acceptance of this debt into the XXXX plan. Discover has refused to make any changes that would allow the debt to be added to the XXXX plan and save me money. The interest Discover is charging is too burdensome for my ability to repay this debt, and I would like to be eligible to at least add the debt to my consolidated repayment plan with XXXX XXXX. In the reply letter to the complaint from XXXX XXXX, Executive Office of Customer Advocacy, Discover indicated they would work with XXXX. However, Discover has again rejected the application submitted by XXXX to consolidate the loan. I have called and left messages for XXXX XXXX two times at the number provided in the reply letter to resolve the matter, but no reply has been received.

Consumer Complaint: I made a complaint to my credit card company back in XXXX of XXXX for the amount of {$2900.00} from a company called ( XXXX XXXX ) which I do not recognize or authorized. My credit card company ( Discover Card ) put the credit back on my account till they investigate the problem. They sent me a letter stating that based on the information they received from the merchant that I was held responsible for the charge. I reopened the case again to reinvestigate this matter, and for the merchant to give them physical evidence that shows it was me who charged this transaction ; such a drivers license or social security card or something that belongs to me to show it was me. They said the only thing the merchant was able to submit to my credit card company was signatures which made my credit card charge me for a transaction I never new or authorized. They said for them to reopen this case would be to file a police report which I will do.
