Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX ; XXXX . The Agent for principal XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/2023, a application was submitted for a credit card and a tender for collateral was received by your bank on behalf of the Principal. A adverse letter was sent saying the application was denied. So the question now, is where is the collateral your bank received? Because that security collateral has value equal to the amount applied for of the application. Please be advised, I am aware this is securities fraud. This has been a ongoing investigation for over 30 days. I trust that you will correct the wrongdoings of the unknown employee of your financial institution who took it upon themselves to defraud the securities. Please respond to this complaint with your name, job title and how long you have been working for Discover Financial Services.

Upon reviewing my report The following accounts ( itemized below ) are reporting a current balance when it is my understanding and reason to believe that this debt was charged off by each lender. Because of that fact, this debt is cancelled and at least should not reflect the balance nor continue to actively report current updates that is currently showing on my consumer file. Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: Discover offered me multiple promotional balance transfer offers. In exchange for a one-time transfer fee, I would receive a 0 % APR for 12-18 months. I paid these large fees to transfer substantial balances and receive the promotional APR for the advertised period of time. I also continued to use the card for typical purchases, but pay in full at the end of the month for any incremental purchases I made, as well as the minimum payment if it was larger than the amount of my standard purchases. After almost a year, I realized that Discover was in fact using my monthly payments to payoff the 0 % balances that I had paid to be set to 0 %, while allowing my non-promotional balances to accrue at a rate in the 24-25 % range. They effectively converted my promotional balances into non-promotional balances despite the fact that I had paid for the rate to be 0 % on those amounts. This type of anti-consumer behavior is very reminiscent of the reordering of purchases to maximize late fees that banks used to do.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: Refundable deposit of {$3000.00} paid on XX/XX/2023 to XXXX XXXX on our Discover card. Instead of contacting the vendor in XXXX for the refund, we filed a dispute with Discover to recover the funds. We supplied the refund letter from XXXX XXXX. Discover issued a temp credit to our card and contacted the vendor. Discover received validation of the charge from XXXX XXXX and denied our refund request. They posted the amount and interest back to our card. We contacted XXXX XXXX directly to obtain the refund. They agreed to issue it but then said they could not access the funds because Discover had refunded the money. I corresponded back and forth between Discover and XXXX XXXX for months being denied by each one. They are pointing fingers back and forth saying each one has the money to refund. Discover said I need to get a statement saying that the funds would be refunded back to the same Discover card instead of the refund letter that I had. We sent a statement from XXXX XXXX saying the moneys were refundable back to the Discover card used for payment but Discover is still not accepting this. We have been charged approximately $ XXXX in interest thus far.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX I purchased some items that were not resolved one for {$280.00} and the other for {$490.00}. There were items missing from my order. I tried to resolve with the company and they told me to weigh the box. I finally got them to accept a return of the items. I sent this proof to DiscoverCard and they did not accept this evidence that they received their items back even with the company saying that they got them back.
