Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card
Consumer Complaint: Today is XX/XX/2023. I just checked my Discover XXXX XXXX account and found an unauthorized official bank check withdrawal with the amount of XXXX USD on XX/XX/2023. And XXXX days before this transaction, an email said that my XXXX passcode for the Discover XXXX XXXX has been updated. I actually didnt update this passcode and each time when I called them I could only change the password instead of passcode. So where the passcode comes from??? And I did not authorize any bank check withdrawals. I even have no idea how to issue a bank check from this account since its a saving account. So I called the Discover Bank immediately but they told me they could not stop the payment for this transaction of XXXX USD. Because I am currently in XXXX and not using the phone number on file, they said they could not verify my identity and asked me to go through a very complicated verification process which the XXXX XXXX would be involved. It might take XXXX month or more because the earliest appointment for XXXX XXXX is next month. Its a horrible and ridiculous experience and I am currently very worried about the safety of my money because I have not idea what is going on. I dont know why someone could easily steal my money but I need to go through such a long and complicated process to verify myself and protect my money. I still have email and address on file but they didnt really help with it. Thats really disappointed and I already lost trust on Discover Bank although Ive stayed with them for XXXX years.

Consumer Complaint: A company called XXXX XXXX XXXX has been calling me since XXXX of XXXX and making suggestions that they will take me to court over a debit from Discover Card. I have never had a discover card, nor has anyone in my family. An account from Discover has never appeared on my credit report since I began monitoring it regularly in XXXX. They have also called my wife, my daughter and my mother saying they are sending someone to my house to 'serve legal documents '. I checked with my county and there is no legal case open against me in either XXXX or civil court, which explains why nobody has come to my house. This company is engaging in harrassment of myself, family members, and making misleading statements suggesting they are a law firm when they clearly are not.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I was in an XXXX relationship with my now ex boyfriend. I was with him in XXXX for about a week, and I am from Minnesota. I had no privacy, and he had access to everything of mine. He knew all of my passwords and was able to go on my phone whenever he wanted and I was very afraid of him. I made reports with the police and my father had to come help me leave because I was so afraid he would XXXX me if I left. I was not aware of it at the time, but he put my discover credit card on his XXXX XXXX and maxed it out. I did not have any control over this as I had XXXX privacy and was scared. When I was able to get home, I realized that my credit card was maxed out as my card was being declined. I was not sure about what my exact balance was as I was going through so much, but I did know for a fact that it would not be maxed out. I have a {$1500.00} limit and I expected it to be at or around {$700.00}, so I knew that something was going on. I went on my recent transactions and saw that there were charges made in XXXX off of my card while I was literally in Minnesota. I can back to Minnesota on XX/XX/XXXX. I immediately called discover and I was crying. I reported the fraud and it was taken off of my account. I explained how I left an abusive relationship and I was scared to report it because I thought he might get mad at XXXX me. I said I think it was my ex boyfriend because he had access to my phone and its password, and there were also charges that would align with him. For example, there was a charge at XXXX XXXX and he is a student there. There were also purchases made at places like XXXX XXXX and XXXX which are specific places I know he likes. I gave discover his contact information and explained how I was in an XXXX relationship and did not authorize those charges. I had no control over what was purchased, and I was not aware of the charges. I was in a very unsafe position. I have never made a fraud claim before and I am a very honest person. I do not know why they are not allowing my fraud claim. Discover claims that charges that are not authorized by me are not my responsibility, but clearly that is not the case. Additionally, there were charges made in XXXX when I was back home safely in Minnesota. I obviously wasnt even in XXXX because there are other charges on my account from places in Minnesota. I do not understand how they can disregard that. He used about {$300.00} on my credit card while I was using it in Minnesota. He is not an authorized user.
