Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX I got a {$1500.00} cash advance from Discover Card. As of XX/XX/XXXX Discover has me still owing {$1400.00} on this cash advance. I have paid over {$1000.00} in interest and still being charged interest. I made a {$1000.00} payment on XX/XX/XXXX and still owe {$1400.00} on this XXXX year- old cash advance. I offered to make another {$1500.00} payment so I would not continue to pay interest on this cash advance but was told I would still continue to pay interest on the cash advance until I pay the balance of {$3900.00} in full according to XXXX who identified herself as my account manager and account supervisor on XX/XX/XXXX. This interest rate is unfair and too much! Note : I never missed a payment. XX/XX/XXXX I made a {$1000.00} payment. I made two {$200.00} payments and at other times made more than the minimum payment to pay down the balance on this Discover Card. The interest rate causes the balance to continuously increase rather than decrease.

Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: New Information... Discover is a debt collector engaging in commerce within the United States of America and must adhere to federal laws. Discover has failed to provide the necessary information I requested for me to validate my obligation to the alleged debt pursuant to 15 USC 1692g ( b ). Discover has assumed the role of a consumer or court because they have taken it upon themselves to state that the alleged debt in question is valid without my consent as the consumer or a judgement from a court. Discover has not sent me the name or address of the original creditor like I requested pursuant to 15 USC 1692g ( b ) but they keep sending company billing statements and card agreements stating these validate my obligation to the alleged debt. Discover is impeding my ability to exercise my right as a federally protected consumer. Discover is now causing irreparable harm to my reputation by publicly reporting this account as delinquent without validation that I am even obligated to this alleged debt. Discover has also responded to my request to remove this account from all Credit Reporting Agencies by stating that they are required to report this account to the CRA, required by whom? pursuant to 15 USC 6801a it is Discover duty to protect the consumers nonpublic information, pursuant to USC 6802a Discover may not provide any consumers nonpublic information to any nonaffiliated third party. Furthermore I was never given the opportunity to opt out of the public sharing of my nonpublic information pursuant to 15 USC 6802b ( 1 ) ( B ) nor was I offered an explanation on my right to do so pursuant to 15 USC 6802b ( 1 ) ( C )

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: Because I have already filed a complaint about this back in XX/XX/XXXX, I will be brief and simply attach a written demand I submitted to Discover Card 's XXXX XXXX today. Discover continues to reapply an illegitimate charge of {$1800.00} to my account and, shockingly, today it advised me that the dispute went to an unidentified, unilateral, third-party arbitrator/arbitration service, which, on its face, is outrageous. I took no part in such process and in any event, the reason for the reapplication of the charge is unlawful, unfair, deceptive, and smacks against well-settled contract law. I demand that this {$1800.00} be fully and finally removed from my account. I will not waste anymore of my time addressing this dispute with inept Discover Card, unless it is through legal action that I have authorized my attorney to undertake in the event this unseemly and senseless process is not fully and finally resolved in a favor manner by XX/XX/XXXX. Also, because of Discover 's unacceptable, irrational, and highly inept business practices, I was forced to terminate my XXXX relationship today, XX/XX/XXXX. I can not rely upon or trust this company and it is causing me immense emotional and financial distress.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: I have been working with Discover card for almost a year in which some tickets purchased on XXXX were charged to my discover card. I originally tried calling XXXX at the phone number referenced on my discover statement but due to the pandemic, there were no customer service agents working so they do not allow u to talk to a live person. I tried messaging XXXX to no response. Therefore, I filled a fraud dispute with discover card and three times I called and spoke to representatives. They provided me documents from XXXX that indicated the tickets were emailed to an email address that wasnt mine and the charges were made by an electronic device that was in another state that I have never been to. Discover card had put the charges on my account and reversed them 3 times as we went back and forth. They first agreed then put the charges back in my account each time discover did not notify me why the charges were put back on my account. I had to call discover and have them send me and tell me why the charges were put back on my account. Honestly, I think they wanted me to not notice or get frustrated and just pay the charges. The last time they put the charges back in my account, I called customer service and was on hold for 45 mins and transferred to 3 different customer service agents and when the last one I was connected to she said hi and then hung up. So I called discover back and then was on hold for 1 hour and 5 mins before I was connected to customer service and she told me that Discover had concluded their investigation and sided with XXXX. She couldnt give me any other details or information about what had chances since I talked to them last time. Honesty this is just a sign of big business being big business. They wanted me to give up and get frustrated and just pay the charges..this is what I get for being a tax paying good citizen. All is forgotten that my hard earned tax money helped bail these companies out in 2008. No justice for the little guy.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I was charged {$7900.00} dollars on my discover card. I submitted information to discover stating that I had not received services for this transaction. Services for the transaction were to be performed on XX/XX/XXXX. The merchant continued to push the event back due to covid restrictions. I explained to Discover that the merchant had blocked me on all social media platforms and has also changed their contact information when I began the dispute process, making it impossible for me to reach back out to the merchant. Discover closed the dispute and deemed it valid on XX/XX/XXXX. I informed them that the invoice the merchant submitted wasn't even an accurate invoice because I was charged more than the {$7900.00} but it was split between my XXXX XXXXXXXX card and my discover card. The charges totaled {$11000.00} XXXX XXXX has been able to resolve the situation based on the information that I have submitted, but for some reason discover has not yet resolved the situation. I will attach a copy of both my XXXX XXXX and Discover invoices proving that the invoice submitted to discover wasn't accurate. I submitted the correct invoice to discover as well as the letter from the account XXXX. I asked discover to send me the invoice that was submitted to them so that my attorney could try to bring this to a resolution but I have not received that copy and i have now requested it 6 times. They told me that I should be able to see the dispute updates online, however i can't access the dispute any more from my account. Today one of the representative told me that the invoice from the merchant isn't even landgable on her side either.

Consumer Complaint: I recently received a discover credit card and I've had nothing but problems with it. When I have to dispute a transaction, they XXXX everything up and give all the wrong information and say one thing for another. This is becoming a very frustrating experience and they should not be treating their customers with such disrespect. They have been incompetent and giving me the wrong information repeatedly. This is unacceptable as their calls are recorded. I have spent an inordinate amount of time on the phone trying to reach somebody in an effort to straighten out these disputes but to no avail.

Consumer Complaint: I am disputing the multiple late charges that appear on my credit report. Infractions were no fault of my own. These were all consequences as a result of the coronavirus. I made every attempt to pay my debts on time, but the odds were against me. I always kept my accounts in good standing. If you view my payment history, you will discover that I was never late. As a result of the pandemic, My company where I was employed down sized. And as a result of that, my hours changed from full time to part time. This went on for almost a year. I had exhausted all of my savings just to survive. I was behind in my rent constantly. Almost lost my apartment twice. Fortunately, my landlord understood and was very lenient with me. He was struggling also with other tenants. I gave him what little I could spare, but that's all I could do. This was the worse predicament I've ever been in. This virus was affecting millions. I'm sure some of you felt the effects of it. If you didn't, you were just one of the lucky ones. I did not know what my next move would be. I literally prayed which is something I did not do a lot of before. Fortunately, after a year, I got my regular working schedule back. Now I'm just trying to put the pieces back together.I know I have a long way to go.
