Consumer Complaint: Im a 100 % XXXX veteran. I opened a discover account from a mailing advertisement. Not long after having the account I found transactions from a prepaid cell phone company, no one at discover card could help me so I canceled my card and had them issue me a new one and started disputes on the fraudulent charges. Even after changing cards Discover still allowed fraudulent charges on my account it was unstoppable I had no place to go but except paying {$65.00} a month for something I never authorized. After disputing them and having issues doing it I closed my entire discover account and Im not going to be a customer of theirs ever again. But now theyre sending me letters theyre crediting me for some of the monthly fraudulent charges but yet saying some of them theyre going to call valid because I closed my account. This is pure fraud on somebody with XXXX.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I have submitted a previous complaint against Discover regarding this issue ( complaint id XXXX ). Discover Financial Services is alleging that I owe them a debt that is not mine. I sent them a request to validate the debt as required by law. They received it on XX/XX/XXXX. They responded to me that they would investigate, however, never responded with the requirements in order to validate the debt like I asked them to do. I then sent them an Affidavit of Truth which they received on XX/XX/XXXX along with an invoice with the total charges of my violations from them. I received a response XX/XX/XXXX which stated that they have closed my account, however are still stating that I am liable to pay the alleged debt and enclosed statements as their evidence. Not only has Discover Financial Services ( XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX disregarded my Request for Validation under the FDCPA on numerous occasions, they have now again claimed that the account and balance is valid with no evidence. If they are continuing to claim I owe them an alleged debt, they are required by law ( and in response to my Affidavit of Truth ) to show proof through validation of debt. These are my rights as a federally protected consumer through laws made by Congress and Discover is continuing to violate my consumer rights under Title 15 Chapter 41

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I had purchases charged to my Discover Banking accounts ( Debit Card ), Discover Card ( Credit Card ), and XXXX XXXXXXXX ( Debit Card ) that I either did not make and/or were charged erroneously to my Accounts. I had deposited my personal funds and my XXXX XXXX, Iowa, legally appointed Guardian/Payee funds that I had withdrawn from the XXXX XXXX XXXX into the Discover Banking account. The XXXX XXXX XXXX, in conjunction with the Discover Banking account personnel, are charging my account and my Guardian/Payee account monthly account balance fees ( {$63.00} each ). After closing the Discover cards, I was told that it would take sixty ( 60 ) days to refund my personal funds because the accounts were closed by Discover for suspicious activities in each and in the interim charges would continue to accumulate and be deducted from my personal funds. I am enclosing copies of letters from XXXX and Discover.
