Consumer Complaint: There were several inquiries made on my credit report without my authorization. I received a letter from XXXX advising me that my credit was compromised due to a security breach within their organization and further advised to check my credit. Consumer Complaint: I received an email on XX/XX/XXXX telling me Discover is closing my account due to inactivity. I paid off the entire balance in late XXXX & because I haven't charged anything on it in a few months, they are closing it. I called on XX/XX/XXXX ( one day after the email ) to discuss with them and it has already been closed- no negotiations. Closing this account will affect my credit- but they don't care about that. I am sure that this is legal or they wouldn't be doing it- but I think it's a horrible practice. So I am being penalized for paying my bills ... ... that is a new one.

Consumer Complaint: i received an email today that discover closed my account for failure to verify personal account information. theres an extortion attempt from discover to obtain my personal tax information for the IRS through a third party ( XXXX ) known for data breaches. discover restricted my account since XX/XX/2021. i made an attempt to resolve this issue by sending all the information they were trying to verify. discover was also served with a Notice of Billing error pursuant to 12 CFR 1026.13 they verified it was received in their office. in the aforementioned CFR no adverse action is allowed unless the dispute is resolved. sent via to discover registered agent The corporation trust companies vi certified mail tracking number : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX they were notified of a breach of agreement and noticed of adequate assurance of sue performance and asked to return a signed and notarized affidavit. discover was all notified verbally of a Cease and desist in XX/XX/2021. still the company decided to disregard the wishes of the consumer and Violate 12 CFR 1026.13 the information the are requesting according to their supervisors are. DOB, SSN, ADDRESS. which can all be verified directly with me by providing a copy of a drivers license and or via sworn affidavit. i offered these options however the extortion persisted this is my last attempt before legal action is necessary

Consumer Complaint: I had not used my Discover card in a while since we were able to pay off our balances about a year ago. I logged into my account and discovered they had closed my card. I contacted Discover and they confirmed they closed my card. I was told I was mailed a notification that if I did not use the card by XX/XX/22 that the card would be closed. I either never received the notification or threw it out since I had elected to go paperless quite some time ago and the company constantly sends unwanted solicitations for other Discover products in the mail. I called to let them know I never received the notification and I wanted to have the account reopened since I have had the card over 10 years. I was told that they are not able to reopen credit cards once they are closed. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told the same thing. I asked to speak to their supervisor and was told that they is nobody higher they could escalate a call to. I was also told it was a company policy and even if they could get someone higher on the phone they would not be able to reopen the account. The fact that they closed one of my oldest credit cards with a large credit limit is going to negatively affect my credit. Their only solution is to apply for a new card which is not going to correct the issue that they have caused.

XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX threatened to kidnap my XXXX child and forced me to give them my credit card information, logins, etc. I filed FTC report and Police Report. XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX XXXX wrote off the debt but discover has charged it off to me and sent me a 1099 C for cancelled debt. Discover wrote off $ XXXX in debit and over $ XXXX in interest. I sent discover letters in XXXX and XX/XX/2019 that this is identity theft and they continue. I should not have the tax burden of protected charges under identity theft.
