Consumer Complaint: I requested debt validation from Discover on XX/XX/2022 and they have failed to provide me with adequate information of this alleged fraudulent debt they are claiming I owe. Per 15 USC 1666 you must provide documentary evidence along with the other requirements that make up this billing error. If you can not provide the required evidence to validate this account not including statements I will not only charge you for racketeering per 18 USC 2725 but I will also press charges against you and all parties involved.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Account opened as a result of fraud
Consumer Complaint: XXXX XX/XX/2022 Debit Card received in mail from Discover. I do not have any accounts with discover. Called Discover bank and fraud line wait was over 24 hours. I then chose to speak with a Discover bank agent but did not share personal information as I was unable to speak with the fraud division. They were able to identify the account without my personal information and assured me that account would be cancelled/closed and I would receive a letter in 10 business days. My concern is what is required to open a banking account/debit account. Are no forms of ID required? When reviewing credit reports, the account was inquiried on XXXX XX/XX/2022.

As of XX/XX/XXXX I have spent a total of 20 hours on hold with there security team which hangs up after a 3 hour hold time. I have an entire paycheck ( {$4400.00} ) tied up by this company who are impossible to contact to regain account access. Currently they are putting myself and others at risk for unplayable bills due to being uncontactable for resolution.

Consumer Complaint: Hi, I have a debit/checking account with Discover Bank XXXX I received a fraud notification from them via email Friday ( XX/XX/XXXX ) evening and they advised me my account was frozen and I need to contact them at XXXX. I immediately tried to view my account on the mobile app and also my web browser but the account is not displayed and I simply see a warning to call them. I promptly called the XXXX # and it said there was a higher than expected call volume and the hold time was 3 hours. I waited on hold for a bit and was disconnected. I tried back first thing Saturday ( XX/XX/XXXX ) morning and I was routed to another department that couldn't assist because I needed to talk to security and they open in 45 minutes. I promptly called back at the 45 minute mark ( XXXX XXXX CST ) and I received the same " greater than 3 hour wait '' message. I tried back half a dozen times during the day on XX/XX/XXXX and received the same message. I also tried the regular customer service line because a " greater than 3 hour wait '' seems quite ridiculous. They told me there is no other choice but to wait " greater than 3 hours ''. I tried again this morning promptly at XXXX XXXX and again " greater then 3 hours '' wait was given. My account is frozen and I am unable to access my funds, I have called numerous times and waited a few times only to be disconnected. I have also spoken to regular customer service and they refuse to assist me in accessing my account. I do not know what to do at this point.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: This complaint is on behalf of both me and my husband ( XXXX XXXX XXXX, who both own the accounts being discussed. We had a savings and two checking accounts with Discover Bank, which have been open since around XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, we received a notice via email that due to unusual activity, our accounts had been suspended and to call Discover immediately. I called Discover ( XX/XX/XXXX ) to inquire about the issue, and I was directed to the fraud department. Once connected, I was told that due to a business decision, our checking and savings accounts were being closed, and we would receive our balance in the form of a check via mail. I asked what the reason was, and I was told that they are not able to share that information. I asked if there was a way to appeal this decision, as these were our primary banking accounts that contain a large portion of our money. I shared that these accounts are where our pay checks are directly deposited and from which bills are paid. I was told there was no way to appeal this decision and that it was final. Later on that day ( XX/XX/XXXX ), XXXX called Discover again to ask for more information, and he was again told that there was no information that could be provided to us and that we would receive our remaining balance by check via mail. XXXX called Discover again on XX/XX/XXXX to ask for an update on the status of our check with the remaining balance, and he was told that they could not provide an update on either the reason for account closure or the status of our check. It has now been over 45 days since we were notified of the closure of our accounts, and we have still not received the remaining balance of our accounts. Totaling our two checking accounts and savings account, there should be around {$15000.00} that we are unable to access because Discover has not returned our money to us. This has caused a significant financial burden on our family. We are very frustrated with the lack of communication from Discover and with the slow return of our money.

Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022 I made a second payment on my credit card in the amount of {$570.00}. My available credit balance was not increase to reflect my true available balance until yesterday. After calling and speaking to three customer service agents at Discover, I was given false information when I was told that XXXX XXXX was holding the money that I paid to Discover via my checking account. However, yesterday I finally spoke with XXXX, a XXXX with Discover who gave me great service and gave me the truth. He then referred me to the department that was responsible for placing an eight ( 8 ) day hold on my funds. No explanation was given to me as to why an 8 day hold was placed on my funds so that I did not have access to my funds that I paid. The representative who I spoke with told me that my payment was flagged for verification but she did not tell me why. Also, I was never notified as to my money being held for 8 days. Because I check my numbers and accounts everyday I was aware of the hold and my available balance not increasing for 8 days. No credit card company or financial institution should be allowed to do this to a consumer who pays their bill on time with an explanation. Therefore, I am filing this complaint against Discover card for suspicious behavior that could have caused me great harm had I been in a situation where I needed my funds.
