Consumer Complaint: Discover has been harassing me about owing on an alleged debt. I have contacted them several times about this including 6 phone calls, and a written debt verification letter. I also have sent a request to dispute through XXXX. The alleged loan does not identify me. This violates the ECOA for discrimination based on age. Discover sent a letter dated XX/XX/2022 and an email dated XX/XX/2022. The letters are in violation of the ECOA based on familial status, source of income, and several violations of the FDCPA Both letters are attached. They both threaten me in violation of the FDCPA. " Your full balance will be due immediately. Your account will be reported as a bad debt to the credit reporting agencies. Charge off status may remain on your credit report for up to 7 years. We will refer your account to a collection attorney to continue collection efforts on our behalf including the possibility of filing a lawsuit against you.. lawsuit against you.. ''

Consumer Complaint: I have recently discovered that there are fraudulent accounts that were opened under my name and personal information. I am not quite sure as to how this happened but the last incident that I can remember goes all the way back to XXXX of XXXX when my wallet was stolen from me when I was at the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX My debit and credit cards, Driver 's license and Social Security card were in that wallet. I had to obtain new cards after this incident and have not had any other theft incidents thereafter. Please help me clear this up. There are credit account and collection accounts that apparently showed up on my credit report that do not belong to me.

Consumer Complaint: My XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX used my personal information and applied for a Discover Card in XX/XX/XXXX. The card was issued to him in XX/XX/XXXX. He subsequently defaulted in making payments. I did not discover this until some time in XX/XX/XXXX when I was advised by my mortgage broker that I had an outstanding debt with Discover Card. I then lodged a dispute through XXXX Credit Bureau and I have also made numerous calls to Discover to remove this debt from my personal records as : 1. I never applied for the card, it was my son who made the application without my knowledge or consent ; 2. I was never contacted by Discover either by telephone, mail or email to verify my information or whether I made such an application ; 3. All the purchases o the card were made by my son without my knowledge or consent. Apart from calls, I have also written to Discover on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX a very long and detailed letter explaining the whole issue and requesting that they remove this debt from my financial records as it has adversely affected my Credit Score. Discover replied to my letter on XX/XX/XXXX in which they simply said that the account and balances are " considered valid '' and that they have reported my account to the Consumer Reporting Agencies as a '' disputed account ''. I followed up with more phone calls and Discover wrote to me on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX informing me that " unless you have new relevant information to substantiate your claim '' they will continued to report this account as a " disputed account '' to all the Credit Reporting Agencies. How can I produce evidence of a negative fact? Namely that I never applied for the card? Surely the onus is on them to make sure that the person whose name is used in the application for a credit card DID actually make the application? It should not be possible for someone to use another person 's information to get a credit card and one with such a high credit limit. I made more calls to them and their representative advised me to get my son to sign a notarised document confirming that he applied for the card using my name, that this was done without my consent or knowledge and that all the charges on the card were made by him. I finally managed to get my son to sign such a declaration which I got notarised and sent to Discover on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. They sent me a reply on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX saying exactly the same thing namely that the '' the account and balance are considered valid '' As you can see, I am not getting anywhere with Discover after XXXX months going communication both by phone and letters and I am unable to get a mortgage to purchase a house. I will not be attaching any documents as all the documents have been submitted to Discover.

Consumer Complaint: Discover has issued a chargeback on my credit card ending in XXXX and I dont even use this credit card due to recent low credit limit they offer me and wouldnt increase my limit and I open up a dispute on a charge for XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX # XXXX For XXXX Discover cancel the dispute the same day on XXXX XXXX and issued a chargerback the same and unable to dispute it and told I need wait 10 days for a refund from the merchant I explain to the dispute rep I dont have there return address and I send the shirt back to corporate mailing address with FedEx tracking number and she must read my dispute comments saying that Im not a trump supporter and I didnt like this shirt at all because its has some Offensive images on it and the company send me the wrong shirt and all I wanted is a plain black shirt I feel like discover is disrespectful and discrimination because Im not a conservative guy They cancel the dispute without my consent

Consumer Complaint: Around XX/XX/XXXX, my Discover checking account was locked, and the reason stated by them was unusual bank activities detected. And I was told to call the number stated in the bank app, which I did on XX/XX/XXXX. When I reached out to an agent, the agent said that I would receive a reason notice in the letter, and the fund will be deposited to me after 60 days. I told her that my last activity was depositing my company 's check of XXXX dollars, and after the fund was available, I transferred that fund to my other bank 's saving account. The agent told me that this could trigger fraud detection, and told me no way to appeal even though I didn't commit fraud at all.

Consumer Complaint: I received a paper check instead of a direct deposit on XX/XX/XXXX due to me temporarily switching to another bank account. When I attempted to deposit my paycheck that is drawn on the same bank that has ACHed into this account before into my Discover Bank account, I was told {$250.00} of my paycheck would be available immediately with the rest to clear on the XXXX. Today, on the XXXX, I expected to have that {$250.00} available to me. I checked and none of my paycheck has been made available. After speaking with 4 different representatives and XXXX supervisors, I find out that the entire paycheck is being held until the XXXX due to " Risk attributes indicate potential for the check to be returned unpaid. '' Discover Bank refuses to do anything about this and can provide me no explanation as to why these funds in particular are being held. They told me that if my account were at the 90 day mark, they could contact the bank that my paycheck is drawn on, but since I opened this account XX/XX/XXXX, they refuse to do anything about it. I need this money to live. I literally don't have money other than this to eat, to pay bills, to get gas, to literally survive.
