Issue: Took or threatened to take negative or legal action

Subissue: Threatened to sue you for very old debt

Consumer Complaint: Good Afternoon! My name is XXXX XXXX. I am writing this email in an attempt to seek advice on how to respond to a court summons that was issued by Discover Bank filed in XXXX XXXX Ga. Years ago, I defaulted on my Discover Card with a balance between XXXX and XXXX of charges and interest. I fully acknowledged that the debt is mine and the charges were made by me. That being said, the card was charged off after I had a major change in income and lifestyle. I entered into a monthly payment arrangement with Discover at the amount of approximately XXXX dollars a month to keep this debt from being sent to a collector. In early XXXX the monthly payments stopped, and the account was sent to a collection 's agent ( law firm ) XXXX XXXX XXXX. I called Discover to see if the arrangement could proceed and was told there was " nothing they could do '' since they no longer owned the debt. XXXX and XXXX were called to see if we could settle the debt for less than owed, my contact was XXXX XXXX. They did not take my offer seriously ; at which time I asked if I could pay THEM the same amount of money per month as I had been paying Discover. The offer was declined. I explained that as a waiter in a restaurant, a monthly payment would need to be reasonable. I am fully willing to resume paying a fair and reasonable monthly amount to keep any further legal issues from arising. I am due to appear in court to answer this summons on XX/XX/XXXX.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers

Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022 I have set up Discover to be a primary form of payment on my XXXX ( XXXX ) account. According to the recent offer all XXXX transactions are pre-set to Discover as form of payment. However two transactions were not processed through Discover : XX/XX/2022 Payment to XXXX XXXX for {$450.00} XX/XX/2022 Payment to XXXX for {$100.00} The resulting loss of the bonus is {$27.00}. When I brought this issue to XXXX I was told that the Discover was responsible for not accepting these transactions so they went to the alternative form of payment : XXXX and the checking account. When I brought this issue to the Discover Card supervisor I was told that since these transactions do not show on its rejected transaction screen the issue is not their to address. She was not even interested in looking at the issue and even reviewing the data ( below ) since she told me she's neither authorized or equipped to deal with issue such as this. XXXX I find this way of thinking appalling. The DiscoverXXXX offer has been a offered to me ( supposedly in good faith ) so it should be a responsibility of these two companies to address them instead of hanging the customer high and dry. I think Discover marketing should also get involved here as if for whatever reason the XXXX is a culprit why then it is lying to customers while automatically denying the benefit to the customers? Screenshots : 1 ) The XXXX account set to Discover as automatic payment. 2 ) The XXXX transaction made to checking account instead 3 ) XXXX transaction made to XXXX instead.
