Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: Ive included in past statements, however it renders mentioning again that my license and SS card were in my wallet when it was stolen. This was documented in the original police report I filed shortly after my wallet went missing. It explains why my address may be on some, if not all the purchases. I was also made aware of fraudulent credit card applications being made in my name with my SS number. I completely understand needing to investigate, thoroughly, because thats exactly what I have done on my end. However, it does not appear that Discover has properly investigated. These charges NEVER should have been approved with as much incorrect spelling and the inconsistent email addresses and phone numbers used. It should have been a red flag for Discover, yet theyre the ones that permitted over {$1700.00} in fraudulent transactions. I never received any requests to approve or deny these transactions. I notified Discover that my card was missing when I filed the police report and from there responsibility and negligence fall on Discover, NOT ME!

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I have a discover credit card. I have been ill this year and also had an injury. I made a payment and somehow it returned. I checked the discover account and removed the card that I do not use. It did not come from the card I wanted. Keep in mind that card was removed and I could see it was removed from the account ; however, they still tried to charge it. I had already deleted the old payment arrangement, paid XXXX and made a new payment arrangement. yet, they are still trying to charge me from the old payment arrangement which was deleted. I made a new payment arrangement and paid XXXX and it has gone through. the payment arrangement is to pay XXXX over the next 12 months. ( I have had issues surrounding XXXX more than once this year, and XXXX as I stated ) I called in and talked to XXXX, who apparently was not listening to what I said, and I asked for a supervisor. I had to ask him again, I said, " respectfully, I am asking for a supervisor. '' He placed me on hold, was on hold a while, then I could hear what sounded like grunts and whispering. He seemed to want to argue, instead of getting to my immediate concern of charging a card that was removed. My concern is this is not the first time they have tried to take payments from a card that has been removed from the account. I have already made a new agreement, but I first paid XXXX. Somehow that does not seem proper to charge a card that is no longer tied to your account for payment. it was removed days ago and they tried to charge it just last night.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Consumer Complaint: My complaint is in regards to my Discover credit card. Ive had this Discover credit card account since 1988, but have not used it in many years. Earlier this year I received a bill for $???. I looked at the charges and they are ALL fraudulent. I disputed the charges with Discover and asked them to close the account. They took some of the charges off my bill but then opened up a new account without my permission and transferred some {$400.00} in charges to the new account, and insist that the remaining balance is valid. They are charging me interest and late fees on it. I refuse to pay for someone elses purchases, and therefore need your assistance in resolving this matter. I can not communicate on the phone because of a XXXX, which makes handling such matters so much more difficult. Please help me resolve this because Discover refuses to acknowledge my complaint and wants to take the easy way out by making me pay for something I did not charge on this card.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: Discover card sent a demand letter for me to use my credit card or they would close my account. I had no need to use this card before the time period demanded by Discover, so they forcibly closed my account while submitting this disparaging process to the credit reporting bureaus XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX where they reacted by penalizing me by deducting XXXX points from my credit score. When I called them to dispute this process they simply sent me a form letter supporting their purposeful retaliatory process. I believe they know they have the potential to destroy an individual 's credit history and they use this as a negotiable factor to demand use of their credit card which should be considered a criminal act. The attached file shows my credit score before Discover disparaged my score by XXXX points.

Consumer Complaint: DISCOVER FINANCIAL SERVICES claims that I owe them a debt yet they CAN NOT prove it, even though I have repeatedly given them chances to do so by sending them letters through certified mail asking them to provide me with a VALIDATION OF DEBT as per federal law. I received no response from them the entire time. I sent them a CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE, in which they did not respond with their proof of claim or the required info, therefore binding them to my new TERMS AND CONDITIONS. I have attached all the letters I have sent as well as the domestic return receipts, proving that I have indeed exhausted all administrative remedies.
