Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I got the XXXX credit card after I graduate from high school. The payments were made from my checking account through auto draft pay. Discover drafted there payments each month and this multiple times overdraftied my account. I stopped using the card due to the overdraft fees and confusion it caused me at my bank and just overall unhappy with the card. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX of XXXX and at that time my credit report had nothing negative for Discover. Then home for XXXX, and I get served for an amount of {$3200.00} and my limit was only {$2000.00}. This is obviously a mistake so I tried to log in to my account. My account was no longer active then when I called, was told the account is closed and they had no information. Then I called the XXXX 's office and received the instructions to file my ANSWER to the complaint. My answer was properly done and filed with the Courts in XXXX Texas. Never heard another thing about it until now. It's been a year without any communication from any collection firm, no letters, phone calls, emails absolutely nothing asking for money or any way to clear up this situation. This week again I received a summons to the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for XX/XX/XXXX. I'm not even sure what amount they claim I owe and for what I owe it for. I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX college student and do not want to go to court. I thought after I filed the answer, I would get something explaining the next step, but never did. It only seems fair that I would have access to the account charges and this has never been done. Discover claimed my account is closed and there is no information to pass on to me. I shouldn't have to pay legal fees and XXXX costs on a false or made up debt.

Consumer Complaint: i paid for an XXXX XXXX in XXXX {$2500.00}, the company went out of business one week prior to use leaving the country in XXXX, and never paid for us to go, I immediately opened a dispute with Discover. Got a temp credit, as did all XXXX other travelers with me, everyone won their dispute with their credit cards except me, I provided tons of documentation. Discover never even told me I lost dispute, I had saw the charge reapplied to my card, so I called them and they said it was because I waited to long and now they can not take back the money, I said I notified you immediately upon learning. Then they said I didnt provide enough documentation, HOWEVER the merchant that went out of business they allege provided a receipt of payment, that is all and Discover awarded them the win and made me pay an additional {$2500.00}. They did NOT provide the trip i paid for and took my money and Discover awarded them the win. NO other credit provider awarded the win to the credit card company except Discover and me. I have tons of docs to show you in support of my claim, including the one receipt that the merchant provided, there is ZERO evidence to support Discover awarding them the win. All big trips are paid way in advance, that is why I paid in XXXX for an XXXX trip

Consumer Complaint: Hello, This started in 2021, when I finally checked my credit for the first time after noticing old bills in my name in my mothers home. She XXXX XXXX and we were cleaning out her home. I saw that it was a charge off and I been trying to dispute it ever since. At first, Discover didnt tell me I had to create the identity theft report or anything, they only told me that itll be on my credit for 7 years. I was confused because it didnt make sense. The worker did not care and was rude. XXXX XXXX XXXX military stationed in XXXX XXXX for the last two years. This past year I sent my information with EVERYTHING, FOUR times. Due to my work hours and the time difference I try my best to contact everyone and get names of people but Im always led wrong number after another. I even sent all of the required information by mail to XXXX AND Discover. XXXX is telling me that I probably need a police report as well as the XXXX XXXX XXXX paper but how can I make a police report on a person that has been dead for a year? I called them time and time again. Discover is still saying that my information is correct. Im thinking, of course its correct because my mother is the one that took a credit card out in my name! Not me! Ive talked to XXXX and XXXX and they were nice and explain to me to keep disputing it. This is absolutely ridiculous. Ive also attached my mothers death certificate because it feels like no one is listening to me.

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Problem with fees
Consumer Complaint: Dear CFPB, Discover Card : XXXX Please allow this letter as a complaint and an appeal for the check returned fees and the interest charge on my Discover account for the billing of XX/XX/2022. On XX/XX/2022, I made a purchase on XXXX XXXX with my Discover Card with the amount of {$3900.00}. Before making the purchase, my Discover balance is {$0.00}, therefore, with the purchase coming in, it makes my balance to be {$3900.00}. I then returned the whole purchase on XX/XX/2022 and then XXXX XXXX confirmed refund and released the credit back to Discover on XX/XX/XXXX. Because of Discover delay in processing the credit back to my account, only a partial of the credit posted back to my account before XX/XX/2022 which is the due date for the Billing Cycle. That makes the balance left over to be {$1700.00}. They then processed the auto pay for the that amount to my checking account, however, that payment was returned because I did not expect that payment therefore I did not put enough money in my checking account. They then charged me Returned Payment fee of {$30.00} and interest of {$23.00}. Until XX/XX/XXXX, all the refund from XXXX XXXX are posted back in my account. That makes my account balance to be {$53.00} because of the interest and return payment fee. I contacted them many time on XX/XX/2022 and XX/XX/2022. Non of their manager know what to do and understand the story. I asked them to waive the fees and interest because all other banks do that when they delay the process of clearing for the refund credit. Once the refund credit posted, those fees should be reversed. As those are related to the purchase charge originally. They refused to help me.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: Discover Card statement indicated due date for payment XX/XX/2022. On XX/XX/2022 I attempted to make a payment using Discover.com. Payment date of XX/XX/2022 was not an available date to make/apply the payment. The soonest available date to make/apply payment was tomorrow, XX/XX/2022 ( one day after payment due date ). I attempted to use automated phone payment system. Again, the soonest available date to make payment was XX/XX/2022. I then called customer service, an was told by the representative that payments after XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX would be applied next day. I again used the online payment system and was forced to select XX/XX/2022 as the payment date. During payment confirmation, on XX/XX/2022 the website noted that payments made before XXXX XXXX ET would be effective same day. Although statement due date was communicated to be XX/XX/2022, the payment was required prior XXXX XXXX ET. This cutoff time was not indicated on the statement or on my online portal until the confirmation page. Although I was paid balance on XX/XX/2022 and selected the soonest effective date available, I am now subject to charges and fees as if payment was made after due date.
