Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, I received a letter stating that my account was going to be closed if I did not make a purchase by XX/XX/2022. As a result, I did not receive this notice until after the provided deadline. On the same day ( XX/XX/2022 ), I checked my account and I did not see any notice that my account was closed. I contacted customer service about the notice and if there is anything I can do to keep my account open, and I was told that if I make a purchase my account will remain opened. After talking with customer service I made a purchase. On XX/XX/2022, I checked my bank account and saw that my account was now marked as closed. I contacted customer service and after speaking with multiple representatives I was told that there was nothing I can do to reopen my account. I explained that I did not received the letter until XX/XX/2022, and that I was told directly by a customer representative that my account will remain open if I made a transaction. In spite of those events, I was still told that there was nothing they can do to reopen. I was told that the customer representative did not tell me the truth, and I was also told that I should talk to my local post office and ask why I did not receive the letter in time but they did nothing wrong as they sent the letter on XX/XX/2022. Due to outside factors, I was not informed properly that my account was going to be closed on time, and I was lied to & tricked into using my card under the guise that it would protect my account. Now my account has been closed shortly after it was used to make transactions but before the balance can be paid off. I lost my oldest line of credit and now my credit score will be negatively impacted as a result.

Statement was for XXXX XXXX XXXX and after the account was closed, it shows on XX/XX/2020. Consumer Complaint: During the past week I had visited my local bank. Upon checking my credit report. I had come to realization that my ( Discover ) card had been closed, increasing my credit usage to a 980 %. I had not received an email or letter in regards to this, and I have not missed any payments on my card. Thus, I contacted ( Discover ) to find out why this had happened, and if I could have the issue resolved. I was told by costumer service that an email and mail was sent, both of which I had not received, as well as I was called once, and a voicemail was left, which I have never heard of a banking enterprise only calling a customer once. The personals stated that a verification was needed for my account without any reason. I was made aware that my card could not be reopened, and there is nothing that can be done. I found this to be very unprofessional and unjust as I now have to bear with the after effects in my day to day life, wile, remaining consistent in my payments. To this day I have not received a acceptable response.

Consumer Complaint: Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I am writing to file a complaint regarding the treatment I have received from Discover Bank. On XX/XX/XXXX, I opened a savings account with the bank and was promised a {$450.00} bonus reward for depositing {$35000.00} in the first month. However, despite fulfilling my end of the agreement, I have yet to receive the promised reward. I called Discover Bank on XX/XX/XXXX to inquire about the status of the bonus, and the representative told me that the offer of a {$450.00} bonus was included in my application and advised me to wait for the bonus to be issued. However, when I called Discover again on XX/XX/XXXX, their representatives denied the existence of the offer, despite acknowledging that the previous representative had left a note on my file indicating the offer 's existence. I have clear documentation in the form of screenshots of the savings account application website from the time of my application, which can be validated on the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. These screenshots clearly show that I was promised a {$450.00} bonus reward for fulfilling the required deposit within the designated timeframe. I am extremely disappointed in the way that Discover Bank has handled this situation. I have honored my end of the agreement and expected the bank to do the same. As such, I am requesting that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau investigates this matter and ensures that I receive the {$450.00} bonus that was promised to me. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, A disappointed customer of Discover bank

Consumer Complaint: I have a dispute currently, that I could barley submit with discover because of such a difficult time with the methods that they prescribed and the lack of availability of said methods to effectively communicate to them. After I was finally able, by other means, to notify them in writing because the phone conversations went nowhere and false and inaccurate information was provided to me on numerous occasions. The attached files are evidence to show that they falsely claimed to have resolved the issue even though they have yet to even respond to the dispute via the CFPB portal. I did receive mail, see attached, yesterday XX/XX/XXXX the letter was dated XX/XX/XXXX about how they are required to report accurate information to the cra 's and they must report as disputed unless I advise them to remove the dispute status. However, its clear there has been no resolution, in spite of what is reporting on only the XXXX report. The other agencies make no mention of any dispute at all.
