Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals
Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/ : Checked my savings account on discover app and noticed {$20000.00} was withdrawn by fraudulent check out of my savings account. ( Check was dated XX/XX/ ) I immediately called discover to let them know this was fraud and filed a fraud report. I called discover and spoke with many people trying to find out information on what the next step was, even trying to get a case number. Finally I was told I would receive all information on the case in the mail at some point. This all started from the time of XXXX leading up to receiving affidavit in the mail from discover of me calling for information, but it was hard to get any kind of information. ( I am still to the day calling trying to get updates, but told the case has no time frame ... therefore, I get very little information on my missing {$20000.00} funds ) XX/XX/ : I went to the XXXX, VA Police Department and filed a formal police report and later that day sent over all documentation I had to the officers email. XX/XX/ : I scanned and uploaded the signed and notarized affidavit to discover portal, immediately called discover and they said they received my information XX/XX/ : I received a phone call from an investigator for the town of XXXX that said he started the criminal investigation on the suspect of fraudulent check I have yet to receive any real information on how this obviously fake/fraudulent check was able to be withdrawn from my SAVINGS account with Discover Bank XXXX I am coming here hoping to get my funds returned and answers. Thank you for your time

Issue: Took or threatened to take negative or legal action
Subissue: Threatened to sue you for very old debt
Consumer Complaint: I was notified by my lawyer, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, on XX/XX/XXXX that XXXX XXXX XXXX threatened to take legal action against me if I did not pay the full balance of my account within 24 hours. I found out about 2 weeks later they went to court XX/XX/XXXX for wage garnishment. I called XXXX XXXX XXXX 3 times XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, & XXXX XXXX. The third time I finally got someone on the phone and they refused to speak with me because they said I had representation. They were notified XX/XX/XXXX by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX that I was not being represented by their firm. XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX still refused to speak to me until XX/XX/XXXX when I filed for a hearing in court to reduce the garnishment. XXXX XXXX, a lawyer for XXXX XXXX XXXX, told me at the courthouse I needed to call her office and workout a payment plan because they had wiggle room, and could settle my debt for less than I owed, and if I entered into a payment t arrangement they would stop the garnishment. I called that afternoon and couldn't get through. I tried again on XX/XX/XXXX and they told me they couldn't speak to me because I had representation. XXXX XXXX XXXX called me XX/XX/XXXX and said they found the letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and they could not settle the debt for less, so I needed to pay the full balance. They were made aware I had {$820.00} garnished from my pay already, and said I still needed to pay the full balance because they don't have the money, the court has it, and they couldnt get it until the next court date scheduled for XX/XX/XXXX. They told me the balance on my account was {$5100.00}, but the summons I got from XXXX XXXX XXXX said the balance was {$5100.00}. I called them XX/XX/XXXX to verify what the correct amount was, but had to leave a voicemail. My called was returned at XXXXXXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and the agent I spoke with said she needed to verify with someone else before she could answer that question. As of XX/XX/XXXX, I have not gotten a call back. The account in question was from XXXX of XXXX, exceeding the statute of limitations on legal action taken per VA law.

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/23 a payment was cleared by Discover for {$6100.00} then immediately returned to the bank it was drawn from. Said payment was sent around 8 days prior and when I called to find out when it was cleared I was told it would take as long. I further inquired if I would know it was accepted and I could use it when it showed as available and was informed it would be. Based on this I started using the funds that showed as available. Later I found out I was given incorrect information and, even though, they held on to this payment to clear it ( and it did clear ), they decided to not honor the information I was provided. I certainly wouldn't have spent it if I thought it wasn't cleared but they DID clear it. I asked for them to review the call as all calls ARE recorded to substantiate my claim and they flatly refused to.

Consumer Complaint: I received a text message about a charge on my account from Florida - I live in Wisconsin. I responded " no ''. Someone then called me from my bank ( Discover ) and asked me about XXXX payments I had made, which I confirmed ; they asked for some details ( the last XXXX of my social and my mother 's maiden name ). As I was talking to them, XXXX money transfers were made ( {$33000.00} and {$10000.00} ). They asked me to sign an affidavit ( attached ) and set up a fake appointment for the following day. When I called back the next day, no one knew about the appointment, and the money was gone. Now, by accident, my employer sent my salary payment to the Discover bank, and I had to make a money transfer to my new checking account. Now, I had to speak to a third person who required a copy of my driver 's license and a selfie. How did the previous money transfer get made, and then Discover implemented a new policy that would have stopped the first XXXX transfers?

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: As I tried to fight a dispute over clear fraudulent charges made in Florida, a state that I do not reside in, Discover claims that my voice recording had " matched '' a voice confirmation for that purchase. They also claimed that I had confirmed via email even though this is not the case. I believe there was possible identity theft involved and the criminal had access to my email which had this card linked to it. After calling Discover, I had found out that there were more fraudulent charges from the state of Florida, some of them they denied, but for some reason they let multiple pass through on the basis of " voice matching ''. I sent them evidence of my GPS location with time stamps of the days involving the charges, but Discover disregarded them even though it proves I could not have possibly have made those purchases. I do understand why Discover did not recognize these out of state charges that were irregular to my spending habits on this card for example since there were duplicate charges of the exact amount at of {$500.00} at XXXX different XXXX XXXXXXXX Locations immediately after each other which is nearly impossible to physically to do. And Discover was no help in reopening the dispute even though I opened a police report and Discover even asked me if I would be seen on the surveillance video and I responded with a strong no. I believe the Discover representative took my phone conversation answers out of context since they were not very transparent with their questions to make me " admit '' to these charges so Discover does not have to cover them. Discover did not ever freeze the account after detection of fraudulence and they let the fraudulent charges in Florida continue. They also did a poor job of communicating with me by not telling me they were investigating the situation and completely confused me by making me re-setup my text confirmation over the phone even though I had no prior problem when receiving SMS text messages about my account. Discover 's way of notifying me was very inconsistent among charges which ultimately lead to my confusion when trying to settle the dispute.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: Discover 's promotional offer letter unfair practices Discover sent me a promotional offer letter of its transfer balance 's credit card to my current mailbox address without inconvenience. After that, I applied to the credit card and been approved, but the credit card never arrived at my current mailbox address. I called them to inform that the credit card never arrived at my mailbox, and they told me that sent it to my previous mailbox address at my parent house. I inform them that I do not understand why because the promotional offer letter was delivery to my current mailbox address without problem, then they told to me that will send another credit card. The new credit card never arrived at my correct mailbox address, and time after, I got the credit card that was sent to my parent house. When I active the credit card and tried to transfer the balance of another credit card, the option was not available because the promotional offer time was expired. The only reason that motivated me to get Discover 's credit card was the opportunity to transfer my credit card balances with XXXX XXXX for XXXX months, in order to achieve payout all my credit cards debts in that period. Now they affected my credit report and my ability to get another credit card that allow me to achieve with my financial plan. I am from XXXX XXXX.
