Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/, the interest rate on my Discover credit card ending in XXXX, with the upcoming payment of {$230.00}, was due XX/XX/, which was paid. I called for a payoff balance of {$1000.00}, delivered via Cashier checks ( XXXX for {$10000.00} and check number XXXX for {$81.00}. These two checks were drawn fon XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( my bank ) dated XX/XX/XXXX and mailed priority mail that day to ensure their arrival before XX/XX/ per the representative I spoke with. Both checks arrive that Thursday. Discover processed the {$10000.00} and could not find the {$81.00} review until I called, asking why I still have a balance. They could not find the check until I filed a dispute for the missing check. Discover gave me a credit of half of what they claimed was still outstanding. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX I received an email stating that they found the missing check ; however, there is still a due balance on my account of {$130.00} when there should be a zero balance. Discover still charges me interest on a missing check they conveniently failed to post until XX/XX/, per my bank ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ). I spoke with a representative yesterday, and they were insulting, telling me that I still owe the outstanding balance because of the accrued interest, which I am disputing. What do I want? I want my Discover card balance to read zero because I have already paid what was owed and met their processing date of having the money in their possession. Next, I want Discover to reimburse me for the {$87.00} that I paid for the trouble they have caused me because if they can process one check, then why not both checks to pay off the outstanding balance? To me, this is an unethical way of doing business. It is borderline fraud. Lastly, I do not want a late payment appearing on my credit profile. I have an excellent payment history with Discover and my other creditors. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: They said an acct was in my name in a city I used to live in with my ex. I have since moved to XXXX XXXX over 3 hours away 7 years ago. I do not live in that home and haven't in 7 years. Since I moved I apparently had things in my name. Me nor my ex live in that home and haven't in 7 years. I'm guessing some of my legal information was left in this home by my ex. I have never had this happen before but because it was in my name, I am left with the responsibility which is not fair. I have a standing XXXX XXXX Payment, Standing XXXX payment, and a Standing credit card that was opened in my name under these thieves. It's destroyed my credit. I didn't know these were in my name until it was already a negative impact. Please help.

Consumer Complaint: I've started my administration process with Discover Bank. First I sent a debt validation letter and a cease and desist. They did not provide proper information for validation of debt and committed many violations under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I noted all of these violations in a Affidavit of Truth with the exhibits to present the facts of these violations. A Debt Collector is suing me claiming to be representing Discover Bank and stating the claims were initiated by DiscoverBank. According to the FDCPA, a debt collector may not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation or means in connection with collection of debt.

Consumer Complaint: I had an attorney who represented me in a collection case with Discover. He entered into an agreement with XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX, to which I paid faithfully every month until my obligation was met in the fall of 2019. I noticed that none of my payments was recorded by Discover, and they still have me owing the final amount, which was not the negotiated amount. I then got another letter from XXXX & XXXX trying to collect the same debt. What happened to the money I paid XXXX XXXX XXXX? Why hasn't the Discover account been credited with that money, and why isn't the debt being adjusted by the payments I made. The payment arrangement was not much different than the total amount of the debt owed - in other words, it wasn't a 50 % debt reduction. So I want Discover to recognize the payments and the debt to be satisfied as per our agreement.

Consumer Complaint: Discover credit card services is a scam organization. I submitted an application fee of XXXX $ for a graduate school application. The university demanded XXXX $ more after they got the initial XXXX $ payment for processing the application further. This is like a honeybait scam the university is trying to do. I emailed the university and asked them that I don't need to study at such a university if they have no ethics, and politely redacted my application. There was XXXX service availed by me at this university. I paid the university fee using my Discover credit card. This scammy credit card company first resolved the dispute in my favor. But the sheer audacity of this company is that it tried to sneak in the fee 1 month later under " chargeback repost. '' If I searched the university name in my transactions, it appears that the credit card was not charged, since there is a refund. But, there is an additional XXXX $ titled chargeback repost that does not show up when I search using university name. This is how Discover operates.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I was told by a Discover Student Loan supervisor that I must pay a {$200.00} past due amount on my account in order to be considered for forbearance as I do not have a job to reliably pay the loans back. I made the past due payment and then was told to call back in the next 24 hours to discuss the forbearance option. I would call back then to do so but to my unpleasant surprise I was told that I actually needed to have a past due on my account in order to be considered for forbearance or any form of pause to the payments. The agent I was with even shared her confusion with the whole ordeal and said they would file a complaint but I have not had any sort of remedy or at least an explanation as to how this could even occur. I had to wait for my account to get past due again just to have only a 1.5 month pause on payments. Considering I was in contact with a supervisor at the time I made the past due payment, this can not be seen as just a simple and even acceptable mistake. I spent {$200.00} for nothing when I could have used that for other expenses. Please help with this.

Consumer Complaint: I've been repeatedly rejected for a Discover credit card due to the stated reason of the number of inquiries. I only have six inquiries on XXXX, which is the credit reporting agency they used. Six isn't very many, especially considering that I was shopping around for a car loan. XXXX XXXX said I have excellent credit, a XXXX balance on my credit cards, and an excellent chance of approval. I spoke with a manager who said I needed fewer inquiries, but they couldn't say how many fewer. If I'm aiming for a particular number of inquiries, it seems fair to at least let me know how few I need.
