Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, my discover credit card ending XXXX with my previous last name on was stolen and got 6 fraudulent transactions total in XXXX and XXXX XXXX with total amount of {$510.00}. I immediately reported the next day in the morning when I found out and a temporary credit was sent back. A month later, with no other information provided, discover had declined my claim. I had to re-submit another investigation with them and filed police report, credit report as they directed me to do so. After 30 days, they declined my claim again for reason of unable to contact the police. I have found FDIC laws and regulations under EFT ( electronic funds transfer ) that they should provide me a summary of disclosures I have signed upon account opening and providing evidence that the fraudulent charge was made by me. Otherwise, I am only responsible for up to {$50.00}. I speak with one of the supervisor at discover customer protection, he claimed that at this point there is nothing they can do, and if I want, I can have a lawyer contact their legal. Please help, if a lawyer is recommended, I am willing to fight for my right. Thank you.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: I received a letter in the mail dated XX/XX/2023 from discover student loans stating that they had incorrectly reported [ my ] account delinquent to the consumer reporting agencies. The letter included a {$50.00} check for compensation. I received 2 identical letters and 2 identical {$50.00} checks. I deposited one check into my bank. My bank flagged the check as fraudulent. I was charged a {$29.00} returned deposit fee and an {$18.00} overdraft fee. When I called Discover Student Loans on XX/XX/2023 to discuss this they acknowledged the mistake and said theyd be sending out another {$50.00} check at some point that would work and asked me to upload proof of the fees assessed by my bank. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor, XXXX, said she could probably authorize a {$47.00} deposit to cover the fees and that they would send another {$50.00} check. I asked XXXX to speak to her supervisor. I requested to speak to someone who was managing this issues as my co-signer also received bad checks from Discover Student Loans. I asked if this issue was affecting a larger number of people and XXXX said it wasnt just me, it was a system error that affected many people. I asked to speak to the case manager or supervisor who is dealing with this issue and I was told that person was in the back office and I would not be permitted to speak to them. I asked to speak to XXXX supervisor and was told that they had all gone home for the day. Also, Id like to note that this phone call was on XX/XX/23 and XXXX sounded intoxicated. I found the entire experience upsetting. At this point Discover Student Loans owes me {$97.00} and has not been successful at putting me on the phone with a sober supervisor or anyone that can tell me anything other than to upload a screenshot of my banking fees and expect another {$50.00} check at some point. I find it laughable that Discover Student Loans would like me to trust them and deposit another check at some from them if and whenever it arrives.

Please dont respond to my request by saying that these accounts have been verified. Send me copies of the documents that you have in your files that were used to verify them. Ive done research on the XXXX and pacer system and unfortunately thats not efficient enough. It doesnt have my wet signature.
