Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: I called discover about approximately 6 months or more ago a reference to getting a lower interest because of my good payment history rate they lowered my interest rate but then was charging me two separate interest rates on the account I strongly feel that this unfair because this is a continue charge account and even if I'm paying more than what the principal amount is due More than 80 % of my payment is going towards nothing but interest this will not bring the balance down at all The amount paid towards the higher interest rate principal balance was less than {$10.00} and less than {$20.00} on the lowest interest rate principle I strongly feel this is unfair because this is a continuing charge account there should only be one interest rate on the account not two or three this is unfair because the balance is only {$3200.00} dollars this means that I would pay more than {$3000.00} in just interest on a {$3200.00} principal balance I strongly feel this is targeting no income people intentionally to get money from them and take advantage of people with poor scores that is trying to rebuild their credit

Consumer Complaint: Myself and my husband have been trying to consolidate and refinance the student loans my daughter has with Discover ( I am the co-borrower ). The goal is to lower the interest rate and payments. Earlier this month, my daughter was approved to consolidate her loans- however the interest rate offered was at the max. We applied to be co-borrowers to lower the rate and were denied. " Income is insufficient & Delinquent credit obligations. '' We reviewed our credit reports and have XXXX accounts coded as adverse from more than 3 years ago. One payment missed. Accounts are either current or have been paid off. We have pages of " Satisfactory '' accounts- including all student loan accounts. Current debt includes student loans $ XXXX which we are trying to refinance. Our credit scores are great ( XXXX ) and income is $ XXXX. We complained to Discover about their unfair credit decision and they were unable to assist. They referred us to the credit agencies. There are no actual lenders- only the automate credit model they use. Discover 's underwriting criteria in their model is extremely unreasonable and unfair to graduates ( and their co-borrowers ) who are trying to manage finances. They are unwilling to work with consumers. It is extremely disheartening that very large financial institutions that make oodles of money can't have fair lending practices that help consumers.

Consumer Complaint: Dispute XXXX Closed without looking at all of the facts. Merchant did not refund the full amount I paid for item when it was returned. Dispute was initiated in XXXX and Discover only looks at whether a transaction is valid not that the amount of the refund was less than the amount paid. As noted per the enclosed attachments, I was charged {$97.00} and only received {$79.00} in refund. As the description of the item attached ; merchant states " full refund in 30 days if not satisfied with item ''. Item was returned within the 30-day time frame. Discover closed the dispute and did not credit the shortage of {$17.00} that merchant did not refund. Again, it is not about a valid transaction that Discover continues to refer to ; it is about the correct amount of money not being refunded by merchant that advertises " free 30 day returns ''. Please assist.
