Issue: Other transaction problem

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: https : //www.coinbase.com/ has locked my account & funds stating " my account is under review. '' My account has been under review going on multiple months now. I have verified my identity 4 times using their identity verification process on their website and the account is still under review. I've submitted a ticket, Case # XXXX. It was suddenly closed on XX/XX/27 with stating that my issue was resolved. However, the issue was not resolved. I've contacted their support desk on their website multiple times and they would only reply with " Your account will be unlocked after it has been reviewed. I don't have an ETA for you. Please continue to wait. '' Coinbase won't release my funds either until my account has been reviewed. I have not broke any terms and services and I have not done anything fraudulent nor have I committed any crimes etc. Coinbase refuses to help or offer any assistance with this issue.

There was no issue with the bank and Coinbase informed that my account would be locked permanently due to the scam. *fast forward to XXXX XXXX I recently wanted to look at my Coinbase account and went through many verification in order to see it but when I opened my account it said I owed them {$16000.00}. I have been trying to get in touch many time with Coinbase but no one has been able to help.

Consumer Complaint: My coinbase XXXXXXXX account was hacked on XX/XX/2022. XXXX was stolen from my account. I've informed coinbase there is a fraudulent website ( www.coinbasepro.com ) which they use for hacking. They were aware of its existence. Coinbase has stated they will not reimburse me. They say they no insurance to cover this type of incident. There are thousands of people who have posted about the exact same thing happening to them and they never got their money back. Coinbase knows this site exists and is doing nothing to inform their users or have it shut down. This is insane. I've filed a report on the fbi internet crimes site and I've filed a police report in my city. Nothing is happening, and no one can help me.

Issue: Money was not available when promised

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: Coinbase is a disgusting, greedy entity that is in desperate need of regulation. They are XXXX liars and i can prove it. I purchased {$1000.00} of USDC yesterday, Saturday the XXXX which was stated to be able to be moved immediately. I know this because i've had previous issues with Coinbase holding funds in their system before. They have burned me so many times using this scam tactic where they keep your money for a week or two at a time, that i will only transact with them if the funds are available immediately. I tried sending it to a wallet off of Coinbase, but Coinbase then stated my account was restricted. There was no notification about my account being restricted before the money was purchased. There was no email. There was no notification. They will allow my to buy up to {$10000.00} that exact day, but can not allow me to move my money off their platform. They also only tell me my account is restricted after the fact. Here is the email reply to why my account is restricted. " Hi XXXX, Thank you for contacting us. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, so that we can deal with this immediately. Rest assured that we will get the bottom of this. Your account is temporarily suspended from sending cryptocurrency off the Coinbase platform. This is to protect against loss, because after funds are sent off our platform, we have no way to reverse those transactions. This feature will not be re-enabled until XX/XX/2022 at the earliest. The current restrictions on your account mean that you must first convert your crypto to fiat and then withdraw the fiat funds to your verified bank account. Digital currency accounts can be a target for potential scams. The only information a merchant, vendor, or seller would properly request is the receiving address for your wallet. Anyone asking for other account information, such as your account 's password or 2-step verification codes, is likely a scammer. Please also beware of " investment opportunities. '' Any service that asks you to send crypto to an external wallet address in order to receive returns on an investment is probably a scam. Digital currency transactions are irreversible. After crypto is sent off the Coinbase platform, we are not able to recover it. Remember : Do not share your security information with others. Please note : that Coinbase users are solely responsible for the security of their devices, passwords, email, and 2-step verification codes. To help protect yourself from potential digital currency scams, please read our Help page : https : //help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/privacy-and-security/avoiding-phishing-and-scams/avoiding-cryptocurrency-scams? ref=es Regards, Coinbase Support '' This is similar to when XXXX removed the buy button but would still allow you to sell. XXXX crime. It's my money. They do not get to put pretend rules attached to them because they aren't comfortable with me moving my funds to my wallets so i have control over the money. Not my keys, not my coins. I want my coins and I WANT THEM NOW!

Issue: Fraud or scam

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I opened a Coinbase account with {$200.00} and purchased Bitcoin. I never made any other transactions. In XXXX, I went to check my Coinbase account to see fi there were any tax impacts to the account and was told to provide identification documents to verify my identify which I did. When I gained access to my account, the balance was {$.00}. I called the Coinbase customer support line on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX and each time was told that would open a case with no progress. The only update I received was that I needed to reverify my identity on line. The last feedback that I received was that someone had gained access to my account and that all transactions are final. I appreciate the finality of Bitcoin transactions but feel like Coinbase was not responsive and negligent in follow up. The customer support areas advised they did not have access to accounts and did not feel like they were empowered. At no point during my engagement did I feel any confidence that Coinbase was working to address my issue.

Issue: Wrong amount charged or received

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: As usual the crypto industry is again coming up with new ways to rob their clients. I have staked XXXX on Coinbase ( CB ) which generates staking rewards. CB used to have a rewards ticker where you could track your rewards- but they got rid of it on the computer version I guess because having the rewards ticker makes it harder to steal from their clients. I have enclosed a pic of what the ticker on the computer now looks like. CB does still have the ticker for the CB app- which is where the issue is. Approximately four months ago my rewards ticker on my computer rolled over to XXXX I logged in the CB app and have been using that for several days now. I decided to look at my ETH rewards on the CB app. The CB app still has a ticker and it showed a vast difference of rewards calculated by the CB app vs rewards calculated that show up on the computer version. When I emailed CB about the discrepancy I received a generic response about staking and nothing that addressed my issue. I have attached pics of both sets of rewards- on the computer it says 0.03 The other pic is from the CB app ticker that is definitely wrong. I surpassed XXXX rewards months ago!! This is just another way for CB to rob their clients. Why else would they have gotten rid of the ticker- to do away with transparency. Here 's the math : I started staking in XX/XX/2021 at a rate of 6 % which has now recently dropped to 3.68 % with a balance of XXXX XXXX Yet CB shows my XXXX rewards for the approximately one year that I have been staking as XXXX on the app 's ticker. I actively looked at my ticker rewards when CB was transparent about them and it has been about 4 months since they rolled over to XXXX so where are my missing rewards CB? The app reports one number and the computer version reports another number for staking rewards. I expect a real answer CB, not a cut and paste response that doesn't even address the issue. And please answer the question of why you removed the rewards ticker for computers. CFPB - everyday all day long clients are screwed over and robbed by these exchanges. It is time for the government to regulate these exchanges and stop their constant thievery. They have enough $ $ already.

Consumer Complaint: My CoinBase account had an attempted password hack and I could never create a new password because they locked my account. I emailed Coinbase because they do not have a customer service phone number but they never replied. I had {$900.00} in my account that I cant access. Ive tried multiple password and account resets but the app keeps saying my account is locked. I made a complaint with the XXXX XXXX XXXX but they informed me that all they can do was submit my complaint. Coinbase has a reputation for locking accounts and Ive read individuals have to contact a lawyer. I believe theres a class action lawsuit against Coinbase. Please any assistance would be appreciated.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022 I had 4 fraudulent charges to my Coinbase Card in the amount of {$500.00} each all within 2 minutes from a XXXX XXXX that I have never heard of or interacted with. I contacted Coinbase Support by phone immediately to dispute the charges. I was told I would receive an email within 10 days from the chargeback team. I never received an email or follow up and it has now been over 70 days. I contacted support several times to follow up and was told to reply to an email from the chargeback team that I never received. I'm then told I will receive an email when the investigation is complete. I have received no email or correspondence in over 70 days. There is no way to check on disputed charges and support is not helpful with a resolution.
