Consumer Complaint: We are not satisfied with the response from CoinBase, regarding the closure of our deceased son 's account. We have previously submitted a complaint with CFPB # XXXX. Our son, died on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, the first inquiry was made to CoinBase, regarding an account that he had with them. All necessary documents ( Death Certificate, Affidavit of Domicile and Drivers ' license of personal representative ) were uploaded to their website. From his bank activity, we knew that he had made deposits and withdrawals in this CoinBase account between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. There was not action nor response from CoinBase to our inquiry. We submitted a complaint with CFPB on XX/XX/XXXX. We are not satisfied with the solution that CoinBase presented to us on closing our deceased son 's account and opening another account and so, we presented a complaint directly to CoinBase on XX/XX/XXXX. They had not answered our questions about the value of the account and sent us a list of transactions, all in cryptocurrency from which we were unable to ascertain value in USD. As legal personal representatives of the estate of our son, we should be able to get information about the account, like the value in USD ; be able to close the account ; and direct the balance of the account be paid in USD by check, to an established Estate bank account. We do understand the volatility of cryptocurrency, but needed to know a date of XXXX valuation. Repeatedly we were told that we had to open a personal account in order to transfer the money. We are not comfortable with this, especially after CoinBase has been so lax in responding in a clear and reputable way to our request. We will not open a personal account with this company. My son has/had an account. Why can not his account be closed and the funds sent to his legal Estate account? It seems impossible to do this? As legal representatives of the estate, we are not the beneficiary. His XXXX son ( age XXXX ) is the beneficiary of the Estate, but can not open an account. CoinBase replied to this and said that his legal guardian could open an account and the transfer could be made. And yet, there was no description of how they would validate that the person is the legal guardian. It seems that anyone could open an account and ask to transfer the cryptocurrency. And then, how would the account be closed and balance remitted in USD. We would certainly not be comfortable with providing a bank account of ours to receive the funds. Every other financial institution that we have had to deal with was able to provide a check in USD, made out to the Estate. CoinBase has not been helpful. They say that they " work with trust accounts '' and yet that is not what this is. An account member died, he had no will, his estate is in probate to ascertain just what his XXXX son may inherit. We are trying to protect our identification, and get the money due to our grandson. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: I have not been able to access my Coinbase account since XX/XX/2021 when I made a deposit of XXXX to buy Bitcoin. I have tried since then to access my account but am being denied access to the account by Coin Bases 's Two-step authenticator, which I installed at Coinbase 's recommendation. Coinbase sends me an invalid message after I give them the code that the authenticator sends me. I ask for help, Coinbase then re-routes me to other links that do not solve the problem, and on and on it goes. I can not reach a real person at Coinbase to help me. I have lost money during the latest peak that Bitcoin hit, because I could not get into my account.

Consumer Complaint: Some hacked my Coinbase account. They stole almost all my assets and transferred XXXX $ out of my bank. There is also a pending {$1000.00} transaction that Coinbase says they are going to sell my assets to pay for that XXXX . Coinbase had done nothing to fix these problems. I feel like Coinbase is a scam in it self to steel my money!

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021, I successfully sent XXXX HEX tokens ( valued at ~ {$20000.00} ) to my virtual wallet operated by Coinbase Global , Inc. Upon receiving my funds, I was told by Coinbase that I could not access the funds. Furthermore, Coinbase would not return or refund the tokens. This is clearly fraudulent activity on behalf of Coinbase who knowingly accepts funds for which they will not provide access to, especially when there are simple means to provide returns or refunds.

Consumer Complaint: I have a Coinbase account that I am trying to close. I can not close it from within the app. They have no customer care number, just a website that allows you to submit a ticket. I have submitted two tickets over seven days and they have not responded other than a generic statement on their website ( see attached ). I can't access my account from a desktop computer because I need to verify my account through XXXX and email. I can verify through XXXX but the second step isn't working. They're supposed to email me a link that I can click but the emails never come ... and yes, I checked my spam folder and other filters.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 someone gained unauthorized access into my account by cloning my SIM card and then stole over {$3100.00} of Bitcoin from me and sent it to another account. Oh and they bought {$1000.00} worth of XXXX using my bank account which was linked to my Coinbase account before they did that. Coinbase has treated this like it's my fault and once I disputed that transaction with my bank for {$1000.00} they told me that I owe them that money now. I understand the cryptocurrency is not insured at all but coinbase should have been a little bit more helpful with this matter. They must know where the money went. Also I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out that someone from coinbase took my money. Someone had to of targeted me since my XXXX was not in a cold wallet. I thought it would be safe on the app but I guess I was wrong. To top it all off I have not been able to access my account and keep getting an error message that says they can't verify my ID and my webcam is not working when I know that my webcam is perfectly fine. I was going to withdraw the rest of what I could that wasn't stolen but I have not have access and now they're telling me they're going to take the remaining cryptocurrency that I have because of the transfer not working when Im not the one who even made the transfer it was unauthorized. To sum it up Coinbase is not safe to use.
