Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: A debt collection appeared on my credit report recently. This debt was from a utility company in Michigan. It appeared originally around XXXX. I disputed it with the utility company then and it was removed. Now 4-5 years later it reappeared thru a collection agency. I disputed it with them and they were going to provide a report to the utility company as I do not and have not lived in Michigan since XXXX. After speaking with XXXX I was advised to file credit fraud to prevent this fraudulent debt from being sold to another debt collector and reappearing on my report. The amount in {$4000.00}. I cant believe that a utility company can let someones bill accumulate that high without a disconnection of service. It sounds like they are trying to pass their mismanagement issues on to me. XXXX XXXX XXXX id # XXXX Amount {$4000.00}

Consumer Complaint: This company did not provide me with Debt Validation and did not even responded to my letter. I have requested debt validation for account XXXX, last XX/XX/2017 and up to know I have not received anything back. This account was even disputed to XXXX AND XXXX and has been REMOVED. Yet the account is still reporting to XXXX. There is definitely a violation of FCRA and FDCPA.

Subissue: Frequent or repeated calls
Consumer Complaint: I keep getting a call from XXXX XXXX. Today at XXXX XXXX was the latest. They are spoofing the caller ID to reflect that they are a Cell caller from MA. The number is XXXX. I feel this is a deceptive practice and they should be fined for using this tactic. When they started to go into their Collector speech, I hung up. They want to verify information that I do not want to give them.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX reported a debt in my name of {$1100.00} to XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2017 claiming I had defaulted on a 2 year contract and not paid the first months bill, causing an account disconnection. Contacted XXXX to advise them that i have never had phone service with them. The claimed the debt was valid. When i asked for a copy of the contract that I had supposedly agreed to I was informed that there was no contract and that it was an in store sale. They advised me to contact the local authorities to file a police report for identity theft. The local police would not be able to file anything as there is no paperwork, no phone number, no date when the service was opened, no account number that XXXX would provide. The reason they could not provide it was that I wasn't able to verify any of the information, obviously because I had not opened the account. The only information that I was able to get was that it was sold in a store in Missouri. I live in Virginia, have no relatives or friends in Missouri, and gave no one in Missouri permission to open a phone in my name. Disputed the issue with the XXXX XXXX, and XXXX who all came back and claimed the debt was valid. All agencies claim it meets FCRA requirements.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX settled a 5 year old debt with my attorney on XX/XX/XXXX for {$990.00}. I paid the full amount on XX/XX/XXXX which was within the terms of the settlement offer proposed by this debt collection agency. They then proceeded to garnish my bank account on XX/XX/XXXX for {$1600.00} and there was a fee of {$150.00} from the bank for this garnishment. Between my attorney and myself, we have attempted to contact XXXX XXXX on 6 occasions since I received the letter from my bank. The payment of {$990.00} and the garnishment of {$1600.00} has left me with only {$42.00} in my bank account.

Consumer Complaint: I've sent multiple letters to this agency about this not being my account. After being advised by identitytheft.gov, I've completed and sent a fraud affidavit via certified mail. I can see they received it, but nothing has changed. See supporting documents. Even the USPS tracking.My official complaint is against XXXX XXXX. My information was used to obtain an apartment, cell phone, and an auto loan with my ex-partner. I am a victim of identity theft and have put this off for too long. I've completed the proper steps, 1. notify creditors 2. police report 3. informed the state of Texas.
