Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: I hired a contractor to patch up my roof. Got the information from XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) I paid him in two transactions XX/XX/XXXX {$2700.00} and XX/XX/XXXX {$2700.00}. But this contractor has been using my CC information throughout XXXX. I discovered unauthorized charges on XX/XX/XXXX and reported to Citibank Branch manager. This is a Credit card that I only use for larger purchases. This contractor used most of my funds during XXXX and XXXX. He used it to accumulate a total of over {$43000.00} of charges. This contractor stole from me, and I have been trying to get the monies back from the back I have been denied twice on XXXX XXXX XXXX, they are not even trying to investigate this predictor contractor. On my last appeal which I sent them through the branch manager I they sent me individual request to submit proof that services were not rendered. I also requested a letter I need to take to the police precinct, and they have not provided this document. they have allowed this person too much time to use up the money he stole from my account. They want me to submit proof via a licensed contractor of confirmation that services were not completed on my house. The problem is that there are no services to confirm, because this XXXX stole from me. He never completed another work in my house. They can send their inspector to see for themselves. Citibank is not doing enough to return my money to my account. I feel violated and am desperately looking for assistance and a resolution. They did not do enough to protect my account. The two denials were done in a matter of days with no investigation and the paperwork they sent me can not be completed because THERE WERE NEVER ANY WORK COMPLETED. The only job he completed was the one roofing which he was paid for. How do I provide this proof when I don't even know what it is? My account was wiped out and I am being treated like I am the criminal. Please assist me in any way to get my money back and seek criminal actions against the company, Citibank has all documentation requested.

Consumer Complaint: I called to cancel my Citibank credit card account and the retention specialist made an offer of spending $ XXXX for three months on the card and the annual fee of {$95.00} would be credited back. I agreed to these terms and asked to have the offer confirmed via mail. I received mailer today that said the amount was $ XXXX. I would not have agreed to the terms if the offer was {$3000.00}. I asked Citi to confirm these details and they would not unless I called the retention team. I believe this is a bait and switch aimed at making it so hard to get the retention offer that the cardholder gives up.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Overcharged for something you did purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: Here is what happened and what I have done to try to resolve it : The problem : In XXXX, I took a ten-minute, one-mile taxi ride while on vacation in XXXX. I used my Citicard to pay. The payment took a long time to go through while I was in the taxi, and I was in a hurry and neglected to get a receipt. When I got home and saw my statement, I saw he charged me {$2000.00} for this taxi ride. As soon as I saw my statement, I called Citicard to explain what happened and dispute the charge. Citicard asked for a receipt, which I didn't have. I explained to Citicard that I wasn't disputing whether a charge should've happened, I was disputing the amount. Any reasonable person would agree that this taxi driver overcharged me by about {$1900.00} either on accident or on purpose. At a rate of about one XXXX per mile, this charge would've meant we were in a taxi for 2,000 miles, which would've been nonstop driving for 24 hours. Any reasonable person could agree this did not happen and we can prove it didn't happen by proving our activity with that credit card, and other credit cards, in the 24 hours prior to this charge. Citicard denied my dispute. I appealed, and provided the letter I attached to this file which provides a detailed description of the events leading to that taxi ride with backup notes, and ample reasoning behind this being a bogus charge. Citicard then told me they reached the merchant -- the taxi company -- and told me they were able to confirm the charge. The merchant provided a receipt to Citicard, which I never received nor did I sign the day of the charge. The receipt Citicard received from the merchant does not include metered miles or time in the car or my signature. Citicard closed their investigation and continues to hold me responsible for this charge. The bottom line is this taxi driver either knowingly or unknowingly overcharged me by about {$1900.00}. He needs to be held accountable for this error, not me.

Consumer Complaint: My CitiBank XXXX XXXX ending in XXXX was charged with {$3000.00} worth of fraudulent charges from XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ). The dates of fraudulent charges were between XX/XX/2022 - XX/XX/2022. I did not initially notice the charges because I pay my credit card bill via auto-pay. However, when my balance was so high, I became alarmed and upon researching, saw multiple fraudulent charges over a few months. I contacted CitiBank immediately and that card was then closed. Citi stated that they would open an investigation. I never heard anything regarding the outcome and this was about 6 months ago! One day in XX/XX/2022, I called Citi again, they sent me a letter stating that the investigation was opened and that is the last I heard from them. Today when I called XXXX, they said my claim was closed/denied because they could not reach me. I find that hard to believe because I have been WAITING to hear from them! That's why I called them again! In addition, I have had the same phone number for 40 years! My address has changed, but I have my mail forwarded via the XXXX. I do not believe them when they say they could not connect with me and therefore, " denied '' my claim. I have email mail. It all sounds too convenient for them to say, " we could not connect with you so we denied your claim. '' I'd LOVE to speak/connect with them to get this handled once and for all! On an other note : Upon looking at my statement, it can easily be seen that charges were made simultaneously in XXXX XXXX AND XXXX on the same day - how could I possibly be in 2 places on the same day on opposite sides of the country?! No, I did not lose my card. Yes, I am willing to file a police report if necessary. All the while I am accumulating interest fees and my credit is affected by this as well. Today I called again and after 45 minutes of phone XXXX with ignorant people, Citi claimed they will re-open my fraud investigation. I do not trust Citi to help me or do the right thing because they have not in all these months! PLEASE help me!
