Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Can't use card to make purchases
Consumer Complaint: I am a customer of Capital One, I have a capital one venture visa card. I booked 3 tickets from XXXXXXXX XXXX to XXXX ( XXXX ) on an airline ( XXXX XXXX ). The cost was approx. {$9700.00}. Capital one flagged that as fraudulent. They asked me to call them. When I called them, they asked for all identifying information ( DOB, SS #, address, email, phone number etc ) and they said my card was put on hold and in order to lift the hold, I need to provide a copy of a govt. issued ID ( drivers license or passport ). The hold will not be lifted without it. I have too many automatic payments from this card. Hence I was forced to provide my passport copy. They said it went directly to a US govt. website and that capital one does not have access to the images.. In fact it went to XXXX When asked, they were not able to tell me how my highly sensitive information including my image will be handled and how it will be disposed. In the mean time, I lost my reservation in the airline. when I went back the ticket price jumped {$600.00} for the three tickets. I have over 30 years of credit in this country. Not once did I have to provide a copy of my ID for any transaction. When I did not have to provide my ID image for opening a credit card, why would I need to provide this for a charge verification? I suspect this is some sort of profiling. Hope CFPB can route this to the right channel to investigate. Capital one case # XXXX

Consumer Complaint: A Charge Off from Capital for the amount of {$2600.00} and {$2100.00} is negatively affecting my credit report. I have filed several disputes and no resolution has been made. As per the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), specifically 15 USC 1681, I have the right to dispute any information on my credit report that I believe is inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. I am exercising this right to dispute the charge off on my credit report. Furthermore, under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act ( GLBA ), specifically 15 USC 6801, credit bureaus are required to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the information they report. The charge off on my credit report does not meet this requirement. In addition, I would like to bring to your attention that charge offs are considered gross and ordinary income under the Internal Revenue Code, and as such, should be reported as such on Form 1099-C by the creditor. Failure to issue a 1099-C for the charge off may result in penalties for the creditor.

Subissue: Credit inquiries on your report that you don't recognize
Consumer Complaint: To whom it may concern, According to my most recently credit report, your company is currently reporting to the three credit bureaus that I applied for credit with your organization. I do no recall granting you this authorization to review my credit report. The Fair Credit Report Act requires that a creditor to be able to verify the written authorization of the consumer giving the creditor permission to review their credit. If you can provide a copy of a credit application authorizing the disclosure of my credit files with my signature, I will accept the inquiry. If a signed authorization can not be found please remove the inquiry from the three main credit bureaus. The presence of this inquiry is adversely effecting my credit report and is impending my ability to obtain necessary credit. Time is of the essence so I would greatly appreciate a response from you within thirty ( 30 ) days. Please mail me the copy of the signed application or a letter indicating your intention to delete the inquiry.

Consumer Complaint: I noticed today ( XX/XX/2023 ) that Capital One has reported to my credit report that my accounts were past due in XXXX. It is accurate but I noticed that their were two other inquiries in XXXX reporting the same information. That is a total of four. Please remove two of those inquiries since I only have two accounts and you should only be reporting one inquire for each account per month. I also have a separate issue where I am not showing my payment is being applied. I will pay around {$55.00} and it will not bring it out of the negatives. If it is possible, can I please get an itemized statement showing where my account was at for each purchase and what it looked like after I made the payment? I have never had any other problems outside of these problems
