Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/23, I discovered a charge have been made on my capital one card statements. The charge had been made on XX/XX/23 to XXXX XXXX XXXX. As soon as I discovered the fraudulent charge, I contacted Capital One and was assured that they would investigate, and that a temporary credit would be put on my account. Before I even hung up the phone with the representative I had received XXXX different letters from capital one via email, and their investigation was concluded. Before the call was ever complete. When I called back in about this, I was informed that because I had my card in my possession at the time that I discovered the fraudulent charge on my statement, I was responsible for the charge, and I made the charge. It should be noted, I do not have a pet. There is no reason for me to spend money at a veterinary clinic. Ive repeated that to them several times, and they are unwilling to investigate further or let me file an appeal. Apparently, although the rest of the world has heard about cloned cards, they stated to me that their policy law, ( their words, not mine ), states and mandates that if I still had the card in my possession, I mustve made the charge. Therefore, they will not return my money for something that I did not authorize. I have also now filed a police report with the XXXX Police XXXX. Report # XXXX

Consumer Complaint: Capital One consistently deny my disputes despite proof of due refund and still made me pay interest on canceled transactions. I disputed a XXXX XXXX XXXX charge because I canceled the purchase within the timeframe and was still charged. I submitted email with proof of due refund and explained situation. Capital One repeatedly denied my claim and appeals within 20minutes of receiving the paperwork or I would get a notice saying it was never sent in. The excursion staff manager, XXXX informed me that the refund had to be canceled and processed separately by a different department due to it being charged with the room and I should receive my refund at checkout. I emailed back and forth with XXXX regarding my refund and spoke with the XXXX booking department. The last correspondence from XXXX was his team requesting my full credit card number which I did not feel comfortable providing via email to someone in a different country so I submitted the request to capital one. The excursion staff informed me that CapitalOne was allowing them to keep the funds and they would not be refunding me. The room was {$390.00} The excursion was {$230.00} TOTAL : {$630.00} Upon arrival I was charged tax making my grand total : {$630.00} I am disputing {$240.00} of this amount for the excursion and associated tax

I have circled the items I dispute on the attached copy of the credit report I received. This Capital One account opened XX/XX/2017 is inaccurate because Its not in collections, it has a XXXX balance and has not been active in quite some time. This needs to be removed from collections section on my credit report. I am requesting that Capital One have the inaccurate information removed from the my credit report. Enclosed are copies of of my credit report with the account in question supporting my position. Please reinvestigate this matter and contact the national credit reporting companies to which you provided this information to have them delete the disputed item as soon as possible.

Now they lowered my credit line which has affected my credit score dropping it by XXXX points. The federal government powers need to begin overseeing these three powerful companies and make them accountable as our credit scores are very challenging in these hard economic times.
