Issue: Fees or interest

Subissue: Problem with fees

Consumer Complaint: Upon receiving my Capital One XX/XX/2023 statement it showed a New Balance of {$6100.00}, which did include interest for the billing period XXXX2023. Per the statement a payment was due XX/XX/2023 for a minimum of {$190.00} up to the new balance of {$6100.00}. On XX/XX/2023 Capital One accepted, through their website, my monthly payment wired from my regular payment account. I chose to pay the CURRENT account balance of {$6500.00} IN FULL. This reflected the FULL balance per the XX/XX/2023 statement, PLUS {$430.00} in new charges that had occurred since as part of the XX/XX/2023 statement period. Additionally, I received a {$50.00} statement credit on XX/XX/2023 totaling a {$6600.00} in credits to the account during the billing cycle. The payment dates, previous balance, payment amounts, and statement credits all are reflected accurately on the XX/XX/2023 statement showing a lesser amount due than transactions. However, a interest charge of {$110.00} was assessed on the XX/XX/2023 statement. I attempted to dispute the charge online, the Capital One website will only allow you to dispute others ' charges online. I called customer service, waited on hold for some time, and after inquiry as to why I received the interest charge they explained to me how credit is accrued and argued that I had to pay my account off in order to avoid an interest charge and upon review the charge was correct. When I suggested that they were incorrect, and explained that I overpaid the account they still insisted the interest would be due. They were unwilling to update the account and I am now required to pay additional undue interest in order to protect my credit.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: It appears as though someone, Capital One, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX who used duress to obtain my social security number, one of their friends, an unknown person, or Gurstal Law Firm has violated the Truth in Lending Act, copied the information in a Capital One account that I stopped using around XXXX, XXXX after becoming aware of my credit cards being compromised and Capital One refusing to fix the issues on my card. It looks as though they copied and pasted information from the original account into this account either by using the data on personal information in the first account into the second account and/or used publicly available information and/or trash to create this account, created fake purchases, or something to make it look like it was me. Multiple times I have asked for them to provide me with signatures to prove as to who made the purchases and opened the account, but they have failed to do this. However, they have failed to do this. Now, XXXX XXXX XXXX is trying to sue for a debt is not mine, I have submitted to them everything that shows the account is not mine, yet they have failed to drop this case. On the last meeting with XXXX XXXX XXXX, the guy went on a fishing exhibition to try and say well then this is true so the debt must be yours, but this is not proof as to who made the purchases. All what I am looking for is proof as to who made the purchases since I know it was not me. IP addresses, delivery addresses of packages, etc. is not enough alone as to who made the purchases since any network can be hacked into and a criminal could have a package delivered to any address where they keep track of the package by cloning an email address. My wife believes they used publicly available information including through the credit reports in order to create fake credit card statements through a randomization software program and random payments from businesses in the XXXX XXXX area in order to create this fake account. Then they forged call logs, etc. just to try and convince a vulnerable adult, which I fall into due to my hearing loss, into paying something that they do not owe. My wife has no interest in this matter and is beyond her skill set but she says one way to do something like this is via an automation technique and that is to use a random number generator type program to select an individual to create a fake account. From there, use Artificial Intelligence and scripts to scan that individual and their relative 's social media accounts and other publicly available information into finding out a person 's habits than have the software to autogenerate credit card statements including back dating the purchases as a part of the program to create these false accounts. ( My wife says there is massive amounts of digital data that with the correct AI software or the correct script, the information can be collected, and that this technology is improving all the time with an example being the self-driving technology. ) The question that I do not know is to who did this. What does not make sense to me are payments of XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX by someone earning minimum wage. Also, there has to be a paper trail of signatures in order to back the purchases, otherwise, how could Capital One pass an audit to ensure that they are billing their customers correctly. My wife says that for most industries, a paper trail of records has to be kept between for 5 - 10 years, including her job in case of an audit. I am looking for this paper trail that answers who. Dates where proof of purchase and who opened the account was requested : XX/XX/XXXX XXXX Pre-Trial Conference Held XX/XX/XXXX XXXX Pre-Trial Conference Held XX/XX/XXXX XXXX Pre-Trial Conference Held XX/XX/XXXX XXXX Pre-Trial Conference Held XX/XX/XXXX XXXX Pre-Trial Conference Held

Issue: Problem when making payments

Subissue: Problem during payment process

Consumer Complaint: This started several months ago. I have a numerous issues. I have a checking account as well with Capital One that has been a issue. I have experienced my payments not being process and companies ( i.e XXXX ) that my account was closed. I sent XXXX a screenshot that my account was in fact NOT closed. They refused to resubmit the payment. Thus making my payment late and since I wasnt aware of the issue they cut off my cell service. Then, I am not allowed to transfer funds out to any other bank other then TD bank, even though my XXXX account was linked and verified through their app accordingly. I have 4 credit cards with the company and 3 have issues due to the COMPANY failing to apply payments ( i.e auto pay ) therefore charging pass due fees and extra interest. One of the cards was to be replaced due to fraudulent activity. Never received. I have copied this and sending to proper authorities as well as my respective Congressman. I believe that this is a targeted attack due to my Career, I investigate XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX. I have turned in A LOT of people for Criminal Indictment. I also believe that is bank is targeting me due to my various donations to certain charities and political campaigns. I will be referring this and my documentation of conversation with XXXX and screenshots of Auto-Pay scheduled that were not taken from the checking account I have with this company and posting to satisfy my monthly payment.

Issue: Unable to get your credit report or credit score

Subissue: Other problem getting your report or credit score

Consumer Complaint: Hi, XXXX is erroneously reporting my creditscore as XXXX when in fact my credit scores are XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX ( XXXX ) I tried to contact Capital One bank at XXXX and asked to speak to XXXX ( a company that provides creditscore on the Capital One Bank app a lady at a call center answered.Intially, she said XXXX gets info from 3 major credit bureaus, then when I told her what the 3 credit bureaus scores are at this moment, she gave a useless excuse and just hung up. She appeared to have no knowledge that XXXX, XXXX and XXXX are the three major credit bureaus. Also, she later said do not worry about XXXX, it does not matter. Then why is XXXX claiming to give the consumers using CapitalOne bank app their accurate creditscore? The incorrect information ( low credit score ) on XXXX must be immediately corrected because it is negatively affecting me as a consumer. I request CFB to help me fix the the error by contactingCapital One and XXXX. Thanks XXXX

Issue: Closing your account

Subissue: Company closed your account

Consumer Complaint: My credit card account was prematurely and summarily closed by Capital One, unbeknown to me, at the end of XX/XX/XXXX. I never received by mail or email, any notification from CapitalOne of pending closure of the account. I did receive a message on my home phone on XX/XX/XXXX requesting that I contact Capital One prior to XX/XX/XXXX ( not a typo ), to answer some questions. I have retained the audio message. There was no urgency indicated. As my identity was stolen in XX/XX/XXXX, I am vigilant regarding my credit accounts. The phone call reminded me of a phishing scam, which did not warrant follow up. I did however log onto my online account. There were no messages or notifications online indicating any problem. The account was current. On XXXX XXXX, I attempted to access my rewards points, only to find that my account was restricted. A customer support representative was unable to assist me. I was subsequently transferred to XXXX ( employee # XXXX ). I answered several questions regarding my business, which apparently were required by federal law. As she was unable to remove the restriction on the account, she had to consult with her supervisor, whom I was not allowed to speak with. After 45 minutes, I was told that not only was my account restricted, but closed. I was given no reason for the closure, nor the opportunity to speak with a supervisor. I was told that I had forfeited my rewards points ( XXXX points ), and that there was no recourse. The decision was final. I am dumbfounded that CapitalOne would choose to treat a long time client in this manner. From a customer viewpoint, confiscating my rewards points is theft, and a very bad business decision. I have been in business for more than 30 years. If I treated my patients this way, I would be reprimanded by the Medical Board and probably lose my license. I am asking that CapitalOne re-activate my account, or at a minimum, allow me to use my points, transfer the points, or reimburse me for the cash value of the points. I would also like an explanation for why my account has been closed. This can have an adverse effect on my credit score which is not warranted.
