Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: So the card in question had a XXXX % interest rate promotion. It was about to end so we called in XXXX to get the date it needed paid to avoid interest. We were given a mid XXXX deadline XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX, only to find interest charged on the XXXX bill. We called, explained, and the credit card company fixed the issue, begrudgingly saying this was a one time courtesy. Right after that call, we paid the balance in full and figured we were set because we had no further balance and again, originally given the wrong promotional end date. If we were given the correct date, all would have been paid immediately. Fast forward to XXXX now, we received only an interest charge on a XXXX balance ... and the credit card company will not remove it claiming we need a XXXX balance for two months and that the promotional XXXX interest ended in XXXX, except we were told mid XXXX and they supposedly record everything so they have the customer service rep telling us the wrong date. How can I pay something if given the wrong date and info ... their statements never mention the date the promotion ends, either. I am now forced to pay the XXXX interest and late fee ( {$130.00}, {$29.00} of it a late fee ) to keep my credit good ( we were not expecting a bill on a XXXX balance card ). If not for the credit card company giving us the wrong date, there would be no interest or late charge, they agreed with this on the latest call, except again, according to them the interest accrued because the promotional period ended. This is true, but we were told XXXX. They can't tell us XXXX and cite the promotion ending in XXXX.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: You never received your bill or did not know a payment was due
Consumer Complaint: Today, XX/XX/2023 I called to make a credit card payment. They will not send me a statement as they say my card is restricted. I wasn't sure when the bill was due, but last month it was due on XX/XX/XXXX so I figured I better call. The due date this time was XX/XX/XXXX. The problem is I applied for this card on line and was immediately accepted. I was sent the card in XXXX, I believe. It was an interest free card for a year so I used it quite a bit. Then, there was a charge I didn't make and Capital One rejected it, which was great. Normally, in my experience, when this happens the credit card company shuts down that account and simply sends you a new card. Capital One put my card in a " restrictive '' mode and wanted me to send a slew of documents to prove my identity I guess. I drew the line at wanting my social security card and my bank statement. I told them that that's ridiculous and I'm not sending that to them. That's fine if that's somehow their policy. I don't need this particular card. All I want to do is set up an auto payment and get a statement in the mail because the on-line option will not allow me in. I was told that I couldn't do either of these things because my card is " restricted ''. It should be illegal that I can't get a statement. I have no idea if they're putting other charges on or what. I was also suppose to get a {$200.00} credit if I spent {$500.00} within a period of time which I did but have no idea if they'll honor that since I can't see a statement. Also, would like to know the due date. It just seems crazy that I have so much trouble just trying to pay them off. I hope you can help me or refer me to someone who can. Thank you so much.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals
Consumer Complaint: On or about XX/XX/XXXX I was notified that someone had compromised my account totaling about {$150.00} on 2 separate transactions. capital One called me and I was asked if these were my charges and I said no. My Social Security check had gone into my account via direct deposit around this time. Capital One has placed a hold on all my funds until XX/XX/XXXX. I have call numerous times and been on the phone with them for as much an hour and one half per phone call. I am on a limited income and need my money for my personal livelihood. Although the people at Capital One are sympathetic to my issue, they say their hands are tied. Please help me get my money.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Banking errors
Consumer Complaint: Im a Capital One customer who thought I held a high-interest account, but was tricked just like outlined in this article : XXXX XXXX XXXX The advertised rate as of this date is 4.30 % APY. I just noticed that I have been earning a rate of 0.30 %. In addition to the above noted article description of my issue ( with the only difference being the current market rates ), I called and was told by Capital One Management that I have a grandfathered account ( 360 Savings ) and in order to get the advertised rate of the non grandfathered account ( 360 Performance Savings ) i need to open a new account. The bank had no problem reducing my rate over the years but suddenly, and without warning or proper notification to its customers, it " grandfathered '' accounts, seemingly as an excuse to avoid paying market rate/advertised interest on my HIGH YIELD savings account, which I have held since opening with XXXX XXXX almost 20 years ago. Capital One 's new account is similarly named ( adding the word " performance '' ) and also has no fees similar to the grandfathered accounts. There is seemingly no appropriate business practice for this change other than to deceive and defraud long time customers.
