Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I am a longtime customer of Capital One and had never been late. I set up an Auto Pay with a personal bank but the bank mailed a check monthly which made me late. This has been going on for months. On my phone I set up a Notification request in case if any issue with my account. I never ever received a Notification from Capital One as required by Notification selection. So, the late as accumulated and suddenly after the total has reached over {$400.00} dollars then again without notification they charged me. I had to immediately scheduled that payment and XXXX payments : XXXX of {$70.00} dollars and another of {$100.00}. I have been a good customer and never late. Capital One reported my lateness to all 3 Credit Bureau Agencies, which caused my credit to crashed up to XXXX points. I contacted them and they told me that they understood my concern and would have to contact the credit agencies, which I did immediately. The bank should have contacted me based on my notification setting in their App and not wait until my fees had reached over {$400.00} to placed me on as being late with the credit agencies.. It is not fair to us consumers. Now I am XXXX war XXXX Vet with no acceptable credit to do anything for my grand children.

Consumer Complaint: I had a prior case open through the CFPB and in the resolution, XXXX stated that the inquiry would stay on my record for XXXX years ( hard inquiry ). This inquiry was a fraudulent hard check on my credit and I am requesting again for it to be taken off. I understand that soft inquiries happen due to credit card promos but this is different. I checked the portal and it still says, XX/XX/2023 CAPITAL ONE BANK USA NA CAPITAL ONE BANK USA NA, XXXX XXXXL XXXX XXXX, XXXX, VA XXXX '' on my hard inquiries. Please help me take this off my credit line. When I click dispute it doesn't pull anything up!

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Denied request to lower payments
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I set up a payment plan with CapitalOne Finance for my XXXX XXXX. I recently had a huge drop in income and have been struggling ever since to get everything back to current status. The representative stated that they could set up XXXX payments for my past due amounts and it would put me back on track. I did receive confirmation emails for all XXXX payment dates as well. I called on XX/XX/XXXX to move the payment from the XXXX to XXXX because I would get paid and have enough to cover the first payment. They refused to do so since it was the initial payment but that representative said that I can always change the other XXXX if necessary. Payment thankfully posted and nothing else occurred until I received a letter on XX/XX/XXXX, dated on XX/XX/XXXX, a notice of strict enforcement of contract rights. I was confused because the rep who set up my account stated that the payment plan will prevent any letters or calls, clearly he was wrong. I called on XX/XX/XXXX asking why I received this payment even though I have a payment plan set up and that rep was talking and concerned only to set up another payment after my payment plan ends. I did the math of everything past due and broke it down and told the rep that making that additional payment would put me ahead not behind and I shouldn't have to do a double payment of my normal amount. We went back and forth about the math and finally she asked if I would like a copy of my transaction history and I said yes but it has to be mailed out so as of now I'm still waiting. I called them today, XX/XX/XXXX, to move it from the XXXX to the XXXX or XXXX since that is within the grace period and when I get a paycheck. The first rep cancelled that payment and put me on hold which ended up disconnecting the call, the second call with another rep kept talking the extra payment needs and wouldn't answer my questions about why I couldn't schedule a new payment as the original rep with the payment plan said I can. Again got placed on hold and disconnected. The third attempt was an even bigger mess, apparently more inaccurate information from the initial payment plan setup that if I change the date it would cancel my entire payment plan which the rep said on the line and I repeated twice to make sure I heard her correctly. I've changed payments before and never had a payment plan get cancelled because of it. It would seem that they are just trying to get more money than they should be and wanting to intentionally get my car repossessed no matter how many times I've tried to work with them.

Consumer Complaint: I recently had a dispute with with Capital one bank because of a merchant named XXXX XXXX. My Capital one account information was compromised and there were XXXX unauthorized transactions for {$5000.00} and {$4700.00}. I then received my funds and got an email that stated the investigation was over and competed and my dispute have been resolved. Capital one bank then restricted my checking and savings account a few days later saying they will close out my account while it is under review, and they will send me a check in the mail after closure. I asked when will the review be done and close my account so I can get my funds, but they would not give me a date of closure or explanation of whats going on, and when I can receive my check. I have all my hard earned money in there. Also they would not let me go in to a physical branch to get funds either.

Consumer Complaint: This is my complaint about CAPITAL ONE. I accept that my data is being abused and detailed as wrong. In my credit report from XX/XX/2023, I discovered some slanderous things that I didn't know about. I found late installments which never occurred and accounts with mistaken data, like installment history, status, balances, and date of last action. As per 15 U.S.C. Area 602 and 15 U.S.C. Segment 604 A Part 2, I have the right to protection and a buyer revealing office can't outfit a record without my composed directions.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2023 I logged on my Capital one phone app to check if I had any upgrades to my current capital one credit card. a few options came up but it said on the app, " continue with application. '' So at this point I called into Capital One 's customer service to speak with an account product specialist, his name was " XXXX ''. I asked, If I continued with this new card feature will it open a second account or hit my credit report. XXXX responded to both of my questions with " No they won't it will just be the same card and number just different product. I said thanks and politely hung up the phone. I kept the screen open, and went back to finish the upgrade to my capital one credit card. It was upon finishing the account that I see it had in fact opened a new account with a different card number and different credit balance. I then return to call capital one and learned that what XXXX had told me was in fact false. I not only opened a new account when I did not want to, but it negatively impacted my credit score. I asked capital one to reverse this to which they closed my new account but said once the account was opened, they could not reverse the hit to my credit report. I am absolutely stunned that Capital One would not provide training needed to inform customers of the correct information. This is a eye opening experience. I no longer have trust with capital one and will be requesting they close my accounts and delete what data they are legally allowed to delete under both Federal and Ohio law. What I want to do is hopefully use this service provided by the CFPB to request Capital one reverse the hit to my credit score since their product specialist XXXX told me false information ( he lied to me ) about the upgrade not hitting my credit score.
