Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: The existence of a derogatory rating on my account is causing me significant concern. I am deeply worried about its potential impact on my credit. It has already resulted in the denial of a recent loan application and an increase in the interest rates on my existing credit accounts. I want to emphasize the severe financial and emotional distress that this negative rating has caused me and will continue to cause until it is resolved.

Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Consumer Complaint: I have had this card for over 10 years and during Covid they lowered my credit limit from {$5000.00} to {$1500.00}. This really hurt my debt to ceiling ratio and also affected my credit score. I have been trying for 2 years to get my credit limit raised but they are unwilling to raise it.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Can't close your account
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I redeemed some of my Capital One rewards points to book a flight on XXXX XXXX. Unbeknownst to me, my action of using the benefits of the card triggered some sort of fraud warning. On XX/XX/2023 I tried to use my Capital One credit card to pay for dinner and it didn't work. I was embarrassed but didn't have another credit card on me. After trying the card several times, the restaurant ended up comping my dinner so I could leave. While walking home from dinner, I called Capital One. They let me know that they'd locked my account due to suspected fraud and I needed to upload my driver 's license, a bill with my address, and my social security card to unlock my account. When I got home, I couldn't find my social security card. I asked them if there was any other way I could prove my identity- my passport, my birth certificate, etc. They said that no, my social security card specifically was required. Since I don't have my social security card, I asked Capital One to transfer the points I'd earned out of my account and close it. They refused. I said ok, can I abandon all the points I've earned and just close the account. They also refused to honor my request to close my account saying that they couldn't take any action on the account while it was locked for fraud review. In XXXX, Capital One charged me the {$390.00} annual fee for the card. This was paid via autopay from my linked bank account. In XXXX, Capital One closed my account. I'm annoyed that : 1 ) I lost all of the points I had accumulated on the card, because Capital One ( erroneously! ) marked my account for fraud when I was just trying to use the points I had earned. 2 ) They didn't close my account when I requested, instead waiting until the annual fee was charged ( XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX!!!! ) and then closing the account 3 ) I didn't get ANY value from the {$390.00} fee because since XXXX I have been unable to use my card, accumulate points, redeem points, or access any other card rewards.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I had two credit card accounts with Capitol One. Both accounts I have had for many years. One of them around 8 years. I was having some very hard financial issues/problems and it caused some of my payments to be returned. They closed my account ending in XXXX. They then turned around and closed my other account ending in XXXX that had nothing to do with the account ending in XXXX. How is that even fair legal or possible. I called Capitol One regarding this and they were not help. Did not even try to help resolve the problem. How can they even do this. These are two selections accounts two separate credit lines two separate payment histories. So of I financed a car through them would they close my car loan account down and take my car back? This should not be allowed to happen. This has affected my credit tremendously being that this is one of my lines of credit with the longest history. I am also going to try to email the CEO of this company regarding this. This should not be allowed at all. There was no warning. No option to correct this within 30 days just a letter giving me no options but closure, unacceptable. I will be taking this as far as I can. Unacceptable to close one account based off of another that has nothing to do with each other besides the fact they are two accounts with the same company but two totally different cards.

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Lender trying to repossess or disable the vehicle
Consumer Complaint: XXXX called me as I was struggling to make payments as my business closed during covid and just recently lost my job. They agreed to cut my payments in half and put the remainder on the end of the loan which was fine. Even though I didnt have the funds I made the payment on XX/XX/2023 as agreed. I was suppose to receive a document to sign to make the agreement formal. I never received the document, they said it was mailed could not proof that it was sent, and then made up that it was also emailed which it wasnt as my email hasnt changed. On XX/XX/XXXX, they repossed the car and of course now that they have the vehicle they want me to pay close to XXXX to get it back. The whole agreement was a lie, and this was a way to get money out of which i dont have when there entire plan was to take the car anyway.
