Consumer Complaint: I was contacted by a third party company that stated that another company only giving the name of XXXX needed documents from me. Their phone # came up as XXXX a indaina phone number. My daughter receives XXXX XXXX so my assumption was that it was something for her XXXX because we have to send updated documents all the time i did ask what it was in regards to but he just told me it was for documents they needed and gave me phone number to call and a file number i thought it was unusual but called agian because i thought it was for her medical needs. so i called the number it was XXXX XXXX company phone # XXXX I gave them the file # XXXX and he stated it was a collection account from 2008 ( 15 years ago ) I stated that it was past the collectable time frame for Indiana. he proceeded to say that he was going to pursue court action against me and put leans against my property to include my home and vehicles and he had pulled a copy of my credit report to see what debt and assets i currently had. he also stated he would garnish my wages when i told him i was XXXX that did not dissuade him. I feel like this company not only got me to call them under false pretenses but also broke the law under the cfp act

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I learned that for two years, my husband and I have been receiving 0.3 % interest on our XXXX savings accounts at Capital One. This is despite Capital One 's well publicised increases in savings rates over the past two years. On XX/XX/2023 ( and still today ), Capital One shows their savings interest rate as 4.3 %. Yet, they have given us only 0.3 % They have only one type of savings account ( there is a kid 's checking/savings and a CD but only one savings. ) My concern is that Capital One is paying its older customers a lower rate than new customers for the exact same savings accounts. This is highly concerning. We lost out on approximately {$20000.00} in interest. We have over {$500000.00} at Capital One. On XX/XX/2023, I wrote to XXXX XXXX, XXXX of Capital One. His office responded that they can offer any accounts they want and they can not help me. No explanation about the 0.3 % rate or why it was not published anywhere on their website. I would appreciate any help the CFPB could provide to recover lost interest.

Consumer Complaint: Capital One sold the account to XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX for XXXX and now XXXX has tried to force me to pay for the entire amount after the fact. XXXX has threatened to sue me and called me over and over again until I changed my number and challenged the debt. They said they provided XXXX goods and services and have no contract for the debt to them by me and refused to give me a copy of the amount of actual cost for the account as they are trying to unjustly enrich themselves for a debt they bought for XXXX dollars. The debt that was bought was not actual debt I owe them and on XXXX they verified that the debt was not from or by them and they just bought it from capital one and will sue me for collection of it

The letter they sent acknowledges they're accpetance of my Cease and Desist request. All communication in regards to the collection of " alleged debts '' shall cease and desist. Consumer Complaint: The credit card in question is owned by my wife with me as authorized signatory. On Monday, XX/XX/XXXX, my wife was the victim of an extortion scam. Someone called her and told her she would be arrested unless she paid a {$2000.00} cash bail. The scam caller would not let her hang up and call me, her husband. My wife only had our Capital One credit card in her possession. They coached her to call Capital One to inquire about a cash advance on our credit card. She only agreed to the cash advance terms and conditions under duress to avoid being put into jail. She then went to a local bank to conduct the cash advance with further instructions from the scam caller. After she obtained the {$2000.00} cash she was then instructed to go to Walmart to purchase a money order to then provide the caller with the code. My wife then realized the scam and hung up the phone before purchasing the money order. We deposited the cash into our checking account and paid back the cash advance the same day the transaction posted to the credit card. I have told this story to Capital One and they are aware that the cash advance was conducted as a result of an extortion attempt with my wife as the victim. Capital One refuses to refund the cash advance fee of {$60.00} knowing we, their customers, were victims of an extortion scam.
