Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: I applied for and received a credit card from Bank of America. I never used the card. Now they keep sending paying other creditors for balance transfers I never requested because the creditors they are sending the transfers to had already been paid off and I had a XXXX balance with the creditors. Despite several calls and that I have documented proff that the creditors being paid with the transfers were already paid off ( I have provided dates, check numbers, transaction numbers to show I did not have a balance with the creditors so the transfer were unnecessary and never requested, they keep saying that I might be liable for the transfers and also the transfer fees. I now have credit balances with the creditors they sent the transfer payments to which shows that I did not owe the funds and would not have need to request the transfers but they still say I may be liable for the transfer plus the fees. I even called them when I was alerted via email that the transfers had been requested and were in the pending stage and told them that I never requested the transfers and gave them proof the funds were not owed but they refused to cancel the transactions when they were in the pending stage and now seem to wan to charge me for the transfer fees and the transfers. I have uploaded my proof that the accounts had a XXXX balance and did not need a balance transfer. Respectfully, XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2023 I have been waiting for over 5 days for Bank of America to return 2 processed refunds in the amounts of {$100.00} and {$39.00}. XXXX ( manager ) & employee # XXXX XXXX both are denying that boa has received these funds already and said it could take up to 14 business days in order for this return to process to my checking account. I've already confirmed with the merchant that the funds have been released to BOA. Why does Boa have the right to withhold my funds for 14 business days? They are using my small amount of money to benefit off of for their own financial gains. I am not rich like they are and this is illegal. Something needs to be done about this immediately.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Account opened as a result of fraud
Consumer Complaint: I had my identity stolen. A bank account was opened under my name in Bank of America. I only found out when I received the email from such institution regarding a new account opened under my name. It was done online which anyone can do now. I went to a Bank of America branch to complaint about this account that was opened without my authorization. Now, I have my credit frozen with the three bureaus since 2019 so, how come Bank of America opened an account without a credit inquiry? When I asked them about it, they said that when someone opens an account online they just ask for the social security number but they don't do a credit inquiry, they just open the account. So, it looks like freezing my credit with the bureaus it is not a secure measure anymore, this action makes me feel totally vulnerable to scammers, since now they just need a social security number to open an account with Bank of America. Also, they said they couldn't give me anything on paper that proves that this account was closed and that I was clear from anything that could happen or charge this account. So, even today I don't have anything in writing from them stating that this fraudulent account against me has been closed other than the representative over the phone telling me " believe me, it is closed '' ... The last email I've received from Bank of America, was stating that my email address was updated and I was able to see the scammer 's email address which is : XXXX. Bank of America XXXX XXXX : XXXX Fraudulent Account Number : XXXX

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Consumer Complaint: I received an email notice from XXXX on XX/XX/2023, indicating that a credit file inquiry was made by Bank of America. I have a checking account with Bank of America so I assumed it had something to do with that. However, today, XX/XX/2023, I received a letter that looks like it's from Bank of America that states they are " working on your application for the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX card and need to verify the information on your application. '' I NEVER applied for this credit card and believe that it was done fraudulently by someone using my personal information. I just spoke with XXXX who put a fraud alert protection on my credit that will also be shared with XXXX and XXXX. XXXX also said they will remove the disputed inquiry by Bank of America, but informed me that I need to contact XXXX and XXXX separately to ensure that this happens there as well. XXXX also suggested that I file a complaint at FTC.gov, which redirected me here to the CFPB. XXXX provided me with a correct/safe number for Bank of America , so I will contact them today regarding the above.

Consumer Complaint: I was supposed to receive a wire transfer from a client of {$1500.00} from XXXX XXXX into my Bank of America business account. Both banks have lied and mislead false information and I still haven't received my wire transfer. XXXX XXXX told the person who was supposed to give me the money that it will take only 30 minutes for the money to be transferred into my account. This was told at XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/23. I went to my bank to inquire about the money transfer and I was told it would only take 2 hours, but by this time, 3 hours have already past. The time I was at my Bank was around XXXX XXXX I was then told to call the customer service line of Bank of America about the problem. I got very confusing information from multiple people and now I believe they're holding my money purposely and it could be XXXX discrimination involved based on the treatment I've been getting between both banks.
