Consumer Complaint: The week of XX/XX/XXXX, we visited the Bank Of America in XXXX XXXX, MD as when I had looked online it was indicating my account was closed. The manager told me she didn't know why the account was closed but we could call XXXX to find out more details. When I called, I was informed that a letter had been mailed to me, which I never received and that a check for the proceeds in my account will be forthcoming. I have yet to receive the check, I have called BOA numerous times, to no avail. Today when I called they indicated I would have to wait 121 days from the date the check was mailed to have the check reissued. I am XXXX XXXX XXXX, that lives paycheck to paycheck, I can not wait over 4 months to get my funds from Bank of America and find this unreasonable. how do these large financial institutions get away with holding my hard earned money for such a long period of time, this is just unethical and their policy should be changed to better protect consumers. The day the account was closed was XX/XX/XXXX, the check was mailed XX/XX/XXXX, and it was for {$1800.00}, I can no longer access my account, nor statements online and quite simply don't understand how this type of unfair service can happen and leave me without a banking relationship, nor cash to facilitate bill payments.

Consumer Complaint: I am a victim of identity theft. Two accounts were opened with Bank of America using my address, social security number, and a partial fake name. Bank of America did not verify the identity of the person opening the accounts. I have been trying since XXXX of 2022 to close these accounts. Only one of them has been closed. Every time I call, I'm told they didn't get the paperwork I keep faxing them or they're investigating the account and can't close it. I want this account closed. I never opened it. Bank of America is not doing anything about their mistake.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX I was in the process of making a deposit in a Bank of America ATM. In the process of making a deposit of approximately 30 checks the ATM shut down and rebooted. After the machine rebooted all evidence of my deposit was lost. I immediately contacted the number on the ATM machine to file a complaint. I was sent to the claims office where the person answering the phone told me the bank had no responsibility for this problem and that unless I could provide copies of all the checks they would not be able to help me. I have called the bank about this problem and explained the checks were in the ATM machine, I was told we need to look into this, no resolution or confirmation that the Bank has a responsibilty to obtain the checks from the ATM that was in a branch.

Consumer Complaint: We recently used the Bank of America 's Payment and Invoice services to receive payment from a client of our 's for a time sensitive project. We were under the impression that this would be a pretty seamless process but we later discovered that the Bank of America is basically using a third party processing company with little to no customer support. After our customer paid our invoice we then received a date when we would receive our funds. When that date came we received a notification via email that the payment would be delayed. No worries, it was just delayed by 5 days. So here we are 5 days later and no ACH received from Bank of America. This payment is now 12 days late when the standard ACH only takes about 3 business at the most to reflect. We reached out to the Bank to voice our discomfort about how this process is going and Bank of America placed our bank account under review and 15 minutes later they closed our account with " no notice '' at all. Mind you our customers ' {$16000.00} payment to us is now in limbo. Before using this product we did a little research and learned that this product would benefit our company greatly by simplifying our payments by ACH, so it stunned us to find out they they are using a processing company with 2 stars on Trustpilot to process ACH 's when Bank of America themselves can easily process ACH 's. We feel like our account was closed maliciously.

Consumer Complaint: I posted my resume and contact info on the website XXXX, in addition to other career assistance websites with the hope of getting a job. On Wednesday, XX/XX/2023 at XXXX I received a text message in the messages app on my phone stating that XXXX XXXX thought that I would be a good fit for a remote position at the company. The person texted said the her name was XXXX XXXX and her number is XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX. She told me about the position and directed me to have a XXXX XXXX consultation with the hr manager who would be conducting the interview. He said his name was XXXX XXXX, aged XXXX and his number was XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX. I thought it would be a video call on XXXX XXXX, but it was in fact an interview held through the virtual chat system on XXXX XXXX, so I was never able to call or see him at any point. After an extensive interview conversation, he offered my a position with company and seemed very professional. He sent me 2 checks via mail with a letter from the financial department saying that they would tell me how to utilize the checks for the company. He also sent me an employee contract/ letter detailing more about the role, the company, the salary and the benefits that they would offer and I was to sign that, scan it and send back to him. I received the checks and was told to deposit the first XXXX at my nearest ATM so that I can move forward to buying the extensive list of equipment that they would be sending me. So I deposited the check on the XXXX of XXXX and waited for it to be cleared with the bank before going any further. The check was cleared with the bank on the following Saturday. Because the check cleared, I thought that was the signal that it was all legitimate and it removed the doubts that I had. So I followed the instruction of XXXX XXXX and sent out through 3 XXXX payments to separate individuals ( XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX ) who he claimed to be vendors of {$950.00} each. I became suspicious when he would elaborate on their companys name or any contact information for those individuals. I then called the Bank of America on XX/XX/XXXX to get some assistance because I thought that even though the check was cleared, it felt strange that I had to be sending the money to vendors that I had no information about. I was advised to not send out any more money and to visit my nearest bank. So I paused my communication with the so called XXXX XXXX and went to the bank the on XX/XX/XXXX to see what could be done about this situation. I was told that they were sorry, but I had to talk to someone in the claims department because they can not assist me any further with this. I spoke to approximately five different people representing Bank of America and XXXX explained that the only reason I continued contact with the XXXX XXXX was because the check was cleared. They repeated that they were sorry about this situation however they can only do a scam tracker and would not be able to ensure that the money is returned or any other solution. They said that even though the check was cleared, after further investigation it was found to be a fraud and returned after all of the transactions already occurred. The last person I spoke to filed a claims report for me in the company, but said that it would be unlikely that the bank would offer any financial assistance for this situation, but they will conduct the scam tracking. While I acknowledge that I should have followed my uncertainty with the employer asking me to make purchases, the only reason I pushed that aside was based on the assumption that when the bank clears a check, it would conducts its due diligence before the hold is released so that when a check is cleared they would not then go back and return after previously clearing it. In all of my conversations, the bank refuses to take any responsibility or offer any help that could actually assist me in this situation. So I am in a conundrum.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an Escrow Analysis from Bank of America informing me that there was an overage in my escrow account. The letter stated that a check in the amount indicated within the letter would be mailed to me within XXXX business days. On XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted the bank to inquire what happened to the check. The bank rep did not know. I called back on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX and the bank rep told me the check was sent to an address I lived at some 15 years ago. I asked the bank rep how this could happen if I did not call them to change the address. The bank rep did not know. I called again on XX/XX/XXXX, to find out why this continues to happen where someone is illegally accessing my account and making random changes. To date, I have not received a response. The only other person on the NOTE is XXXX XXXX. He relinquished all rights to the property via XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX. This same situation happened in XXXX and XXXX, there seems to be a pattern of every other year. Making the situation more concerning is I do not have access to an online account. When I request an online account, I am told that instructions will be mailed. Once the instructions arrive, they are addressed to XXXX XXXX, despite the mortgage statements coming in both our names. When I wrote to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in XXXX, the Bank of America told you and me by way of letter that I may have been the victim of fraud. Obviously, this is not true and it is Bank of America that is committing the fraud.
