Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: This is the second complaint. In XX/XX/2022 they closed my account in the name of XXXX XXXX the last check I deposited was cashed by the bank but they did not give me the funds of {$10000.00}. The funds have not been returned to the company that gave me that check, I had to borrow to be able to return that money, since that company would accuse me of theft, I lost my job and my prestige thanks to Bank of America. It's been almost a year and until today they do nothing, they don't return the money to me, nor to my former client.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I got an alert on my phone from Bank of America warning me of Suspicious Activity. ( see BoA 1 attachment ), and that my card was closed until the matter was addressed. I went to the website and noticed that there were three charges listed that I was unaware of ( see BoA 2 ). One charge was pending, and two others were denied. I identified those transactions as fraudulent, and that i still had possession of my card. The charges were made online and my information must have been taken from the internet. Bank of America credited my card for the {$250.00} temporarily ( see attachment XXXX ). It should be noted that in the upper right corner of the document, {$500.00} is listed, though I dont know why. In XXXX, I was issued a new card. In XXXX, I received a message denying my claim. ( see attachment BoA 4 ). The reasoning is that the merchant provided documentation that I received the merchandise or service. I found this odd since Im not disputing that whoever stole my credit card information received the goods they purchased. My issue is that my credit card information was stolen and used. ( The mysterious {$500.00} is also listed in the upper right corner of this letter ). I called Bank of America and requested that they reopen the case and that I receive a copy of the documentation used to deny my claim. They sent the documentation to me ( see BoA 5 ). The documentation lists that the purchaser had my name and email address, which I assume would be part of the banking information stolen from me when they got my credit card number. It also lists an IP address which is in the same county in which I live, but not my IP address. The documentation doesnt provide any information about the two other charges that were attempted on my card or the IP address where those were made. If they came from other parts of the globe, that would lend credence to my issue of credit card theft. Also, this charge and one of the attempted charges appear to be for gift cards, which I believe is a common thing that is purchased in credit card thefts. Finally, I received a message from Bank of America telling me that I will be charged for the {$250.00} and that Bank of America has contacted all the major credit reporting companies about the issue ( see BoA 6 ). I have no idea if this is standard when one appeals a decision that Bank of America makes. I am concerned that it could negatively affect my credit rating. ( Note {$500.00} is still in the upper right corner. )

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to seek help from Bank of America regarding a claim on XX/XX/2023, that has been recently closed. On XX/XX/2023, I visited a Bank of America ATM located in XXXX XXXX, Texas ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, TX XXXX ) to deposit {$1500.00} into my bank account. After I inserted my money into the ATM, an error occurred, and it printed out a receipt showing only {$1000.00}, which was {$460.00} short. Unfortunately, the bank was closed at that time, so I immediately called the number provided on the receipt to file a claim. As a result, an associate provided me with a temporary credit of {$460.00}. On XX/XX/2023, a message regarding the claim was sent to my bank account. However, I did not notice it initially because the message did not appear in the mobile app ; it only became visible when I accessed Bank of America through a computer. The content of the message stated, " We found the transaction you referenced but were unable to locate any record of cash or additional cash being deposited at the ATM for {$460.00} between XX/XX/2023, and XX/XX/2023. '' On XX/XX/2023, a credit reversal of {$460.00} was applied to my bank account. It was only at this point that I checked the message through a computer and realized the message sent by Bank of America, indicating that the case is now closed. on XX/XX/XXXX, I called bank of America ad they reopen the claim, they said they will get back to me in 3 business days, then 2 days later, they called and said there will be someone call me in the next 7 business days. it is taking so long now, and that money is really important to me since I am a college student living on paychecks and trying to pay my tuition. Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Information belongs to someone else
Consumer Complaint: My father passed away XX/XX/XXXX. His wife spoke to Bank of America and they confirmed my father XXXX XXXX was the sole borrower and had two authorized users. Around XX/XX/XXXX I received a collection call attempting to have me pay the card. They advised that in their system I am the lone account holder and am financially responsible. The account in question was opened while I was a minor, and so it would not be possible for me to own the account as well. I have a car loan with Bank of America, and I believe they are using my information from that account and are trying to commit fraud in order to get me to pay something I am not responsible for. I spoke to multiple representatives and all of them kept telling me I was the coborrower. I never applied for this card, never used it, never paid it, or did anything in connection with that card at any time. I was an authorized user for years, and never signed anything to change that. I advised them of the error around XX/XX/XXXX and yesterday, XX/XX/XXXX. They have reported it to my credit and now I have to figure a way to fix that. It is the only derogatory mark on my credit, and it will be having a very negative effect on my career as a mortgage loan originator. I need to get this resolved, and Bank of America doesn't seem to care about the facts or even want to research the matter in a timely manner.
