Subissue: Problem with rewards from credit card
Consumer Complaint: My American Express credit card was closed without warning. There was recent fraud on my account because my identity was hacked online and next thing I know the account is closed without any warning nor contact made. To make the situation even worse the reward points that I worked hard to acquire were taken away forfeited for no fault of my own at all. I earned those points with my spending of my hard earned money and also paying it back. They had to right to take my points and just cancel my account. I want my points that I earned back and getting bullied by a multi-billion dollar company.

Consumer Complaint: AMERICAN EXPRESS FALSE DEBT REPORT TO CONSUMER REPORTING AGENCIES 1. Violation of the Fair Credit ACT for changing the address on the accounts without my authorized request to do so- Amex learned about my address by filing a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in which I had to list my home address. I will send you such false claim they have made when I never put any verbal request or written request for change of address. 2. Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act, FDCPA since they are passing a business debt as a consumer debt by using deceptive practices to collect a business debt. FDCPA only deals with consumer debts, thus unclear why a business debt is being attempted to be collected as if it was a consumer debt. 3. Breach of contract -since the application was taken under a business name with business tax ID and I was the signor. As the signor, I never signed any separate agreement to agree to pay the debt of the business which is a corporation in case of the corporation defaults on paying its debts. As you know, Paying the Debt of another is contract that needs to be in writing and in absence of such written agreement, I can not be responsible for the debt of the corporation which is a person other m=than me, the signor. This would only be valid if the business was a sole proprietorship where the business and the owner are the same person. The business is governed by Corporate Law where an officer of a corporation is not responsible for the debt of the corporation, unless this officer signed an agreement to guarantee the debt. Thus asking American Express to produce such agreement will be impossible to produce since it does not exist. 4. When I asked American Express to validate the debt, they sent me a letters on a grey scale sheet which suggests to me the letter was doctored with the wrong date since the card was issued in 2014and not in 2016 as suggested by their letters. American Express assumes that I do not understand the law and their bogus letter mean anything when debt can be validated by producing a copy of the signed credit card applications and the credit card agreement signed credit card agreement. They refused to produce such documents as they will show that the application was under the business name and Tax ID and not under my personal name and Tax ID and the credit card agreements were business credit card agreements and not personal credit card agreements. So, you have unethical employees who work in recovery using underhanded tactics to collect illegitimate debt not owed by me personally. Regardless Amex senior management knows what is going on or not does not matter since these employees are the face of Amex and whatever they do bind Amex.

Consumer Complaint: I have made multiple attempts to stop marketing from American Express. After receiving multiple credit card offer and then being denied. I asked American Express to stop all the marketing efforts to me at all my addresses. I also submitted an XXXX Opt-Out and I submitted a Do Not Market request with the XXXX. I have also submitted complaints to Consumer Financial Protection Board about the issue. I have spent thousands of dollars of my own money to repair my credit. I was asked by my legal team to sign up for opt out and XXXX. I have been successful in reducing my total number of inquiries. Although, when companies like American Express ignore my request, it negatively impacts me. It threatens my investment in improving my credit score, it threatens my ability to obtain employment, it also threatens my credit score. I am very unhappy that i continue to be marketed to for no valid reason. I was already signed up and had marketing material sent to my home by American Express. I have asked that the marketing stop. I have asked that the solicitations stop. I want to improve my credit so i can make important purchases in the future and to improve my ability to retire comfortably. I believe the American Express is not being an ethical company. I also believe that i have been treated unfairly by American Express.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Consumer Complaint: Original issue gave response date of XX/XX/21, but was closed 2 months before that date causing refiling. In XX/XX/21 response American Express falsely indicated that the XXXX offer had not been loaded or subscribed on my card. The attached image I captured just after doing so proves otherwise. Main complaint : Initiated Offers list for my American Express card and saw an offer for a XXXX music subscription deal where you would get a {$9.00} account credit for a {$9.00} XXXX purchase. I activated and loaded the offer and clicked the link. I made the {$9.00} XXXX purchase. On XX/XX/XXXX my AmEx card was charged {$10.00}, which is the {$9.00} plus tax. I called them on XX/XX/XXXX because the credit had not been made to my account. I disputed the charge because I had not received the account credit as clearly promised in the offer specifications. They denied the dispute. I contacted their customer support service via chat on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX complaining about the false advertising nature of this offer. They offered to investigate and said that I should check back with them or look for an account credit. It never came. This charge is being disputed be cause it is the sole reason why I signed up for XXXX and I clicked their link and followed the instructions.

Consumer Complaint: Hello, On XX/XX/2021 Initiated a live chat on American Express 's website and request to transfer XXXX points to my linked XXXX airline account. Upon agreeing to the disclosure, the points were successfully transferred. However, upon viewing the activity page I noticed the agent accidentally transferred XXXX twice, without my consent. I attempted to be reconnected to the same agent, but was unable to reach her. I opened a case with the Rewards Department the same day, and they reached out to XXXX to request for the points to be returned as an exception due to their error. XXXX responded on XX/XX/2021 confirming that all points transfers are final and can not be reversed. As I've mentioned to several representatives, I don't believe XXXX should have accepted the request to reverse the points transfer. American Express needs to recognize that there are policies in place for a reason, and once a transfer is submitted it can not and should not be reversed by the airline, regardless of whose mistake the transfer was. I am asking that American Express take responsibility for their error, and credit me XXXX rewards points as these were removed from my points balance without my authorization and placed into an airline account which I have no intent on flying with in the next few years, prior to miles ' expiration. Thank you
