Consumer Complaint: Yesterday I was the subject of a sophisticated phone scam resulting in a fraudulent charge of XXXX {$3300.00} on my American Express card relating to an unauthorized e-commerce transaction on what appears like an online website in XXXX XXXX. I received a call at XXXX on XX/XX/31 from Ph. # ( XXXX ) XXXX : my cell phone displayed American Express as the caller from that number. The scammer introduced himself as an American Express ' employee needing to verify two charges on my American Express card which he claimed had just occurred in Texas : one for {$720.00} and one for {$410.00}, both relating to International Travel and Tourism. I declined both charges as being unauthorized : I explained I'm based in XXXX and I had not traveled to Texas nor had I incurred those two charges. He then asked for additional details on my card in order to be able to decline the two charges : he asked for last 5 digits of my Amex card, last 4 digits of my SSN, front and back security codes on my Amex card, and my mother 's maiden name. He then claimed that American Express was going to introduce a two-step verification system in order to use my card out-of-state and internationally going forward. At that point he said I was about to receive an email with a verification code from American Express as part of the new two-step verification process and that I should read the code back to him. At XXXX I received the email from American Express with the verification code and I read the code back to him. Immediately after ( at XXXX ) I then received another email from American Express asking to review a charge of XXXX MYR from XXXX XXXX and showing that this charge had been approved : this charge - which I had never authorized and is fraudulent - immediately appeared in my American Express online account as a charge for US {$3300.00}. When I received the email from American Express at XXXX asking me to review the charge and saw the USD charge appear on my American Express online account I asked the caller what that was about and he claimed that it was not a real charge but that the email was only meant to show how the two-step verification process would work when using my card for foreign transactions. He also told me that the two original charges he had called to alert me of would post on my American Express account the following day but they would be declined. At that point he ended the call ( which lasted a total of approx 29min ). I then immediately called American Express ( at XXXX ) to verify the legitimacy of the call I had just received but they told me on a recorded line that they had no record of the two transactions for {$720.00} and {$410.00} while on the other hand they did see a charge for US {$3300.00} from XXXX XXXX . I explained to American Express the scam I had just been the subject of and notified American Express that the charge from XXXX XXXX ( apparently an online ecommerce website in XXXX XXXX ) was fraudulent and unauthorized. The charge is now pending in my American Express account while American Express investigates further. Meanwhile, I have reported the fraud to the Federal Trade Commission ( FTC Report # XXXX ).

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 in the evening I went to a nail shop called XXXX XXXX to get my nails done for my graduation. Within less than 12 hours my nails were ruined none of the stones stayed on and to top it off she messed up my gel. I contacted the nail shop as soon as they opened on XX/XX/XXXX ( the day of my graduation ) to see if they can get a more qualified mail tech to do them right ) and spoke with a young lady who refused to let me speak with a manager stating they dont have one in that day. I called over 4 times for her to give me that speal and she hung up on me and I was so angry because my graduation was at XXXX. During my graduation ceremony they had the nail tech who did my nails call me from her cell phone number stating how shes been doing nails for years and telling me how I shouldnt have gotten stones. Maybe she shouldnt have taken a request she couldnt do they refused repeatedly to let me speak with a manager for a refund. I filed a dispute with XXXX about this and they rebilled my card stating the merchant lied and told them I never contacted them about the issue. I called in and had them re-open the dispute and submitted my phone records directly from XXXX showing the numerous calls I made, and the incoming call from the nail tech as proof that theyre lying. Woke up again today to See XXXX rebilled me for the amount again with the same lie The merchant stated you never contacted them. This is absolutely ridiculous you have solid proof that is a lie. XXXX doesnt actually investigate or use their brains for a dispute they just take the merchants word as XXXX despite having solid evidence in their faces!

Consumer Complaint: I contacted XXXX regarding an unauthorized hard inquiry on my consumer file. XXXX did not properly investigate the dispute. The telephone number listed on the inquiry is a non-working number. Additionally, the company claimed they did not request my credit profile although it shows up on my XXXX consumer file. Furthermore, I called XXXX again to inquire about receiving {$1000.00} compensation for the false reporting. I received a callback from XXXX on XX/XX/2021 before XXXX PT. XXXX removed the inquiry but stated I could not be compensated just because I asked. XXXX violated the FCRA and I am entitled to compensation.

Consumer Complaint: Recently I tried to see if an old American Express account could be settled. The debt was for {$24000.00} on a real estate transaction where my former partner was supposed to pay off the debt. The real estate transaction was a XXXX across the board. However, last week on XX/XX/2021 I called American Express to settle the debt. I was told that the collection was being handled by XXXX XXXX XXXX , XXXX For the record, I was never in receipt of any notice by phone or by mail that this national collection agency was in charge of the American Express collection. My call to XXXX XXXX XXXX was productive until a supervisor by the name of XXXX got on the phone. XXXX plays a good cop, bad cop aggressive negotiation process that is highly illegal. Recently, XXXX XXXX XXXX paid a $ XXXX fine to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau for excessive Fair Debt Collection Practices Act violations and Fair Credit Reporting Act violations. On the XX/XX/2021 call wee came to a settlement of {$11000.00} on the {$24000.00} debt. I stated that I could clear that settlement on XX/XX/2021. I was told by the supervisor XXXX that if the account is not settled by XX/XX/2021, that American Express is calling the collection back, and that XXXX would be out of the equation. I stayed adamant that I could not clear the payment until XX/XX/2021, and we ended the call. ALL CALLS ARE RECORDED!!! Today, XX/XX/2021 XXXX called me again, this time with a different agent for XXXX. Once again, I kept to my position that I could not honor the payment until XX/XX/2021. I was strong in my position that I could not pay the settlement until that date. Once again, XXXX representative stated that this was the last day the deal could be procured. I was told the XXXX wanted to speak to me, and when he got on the phone he stated that he was listening in on the call all along. This is a felony under Massachusetts Eavesdropping laws. I was then told that if the settlement payment was not made today, that the full amount was now due. This was a form of extortion that XXXX is known for. All phone conversations were recorded and will lock my position that American Express has stooped to the lowest form of debt collection. They hired a company that will use eavesdropping violations and extortion without discrimination. I will now hire a lawyer to file an action against American Express and XXXX XXXX XXXX. I demand that the debt be forgiven completely for these federal and state legal violations. I did not ever give my consent for my conversation to have a third party listening in. Massachusetts Recording Law Note : This page covers information specific to Massachusetts. For general information concerning the use of recording devices see the Recording Phone Calls, Conversations, Meetings and Hearings section of this guide. For additional information about engaging in journalism in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, please see our printable PDF guide Newsgathering in Massachusetts, co-produced with the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX often referred to is a " two-party consent '' law. More accurately, Massachusetts makes it a crime to secretly record a conversation, whether the conversation is in-person or taking place by telephone or another medium. See Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 272, 99. Accordingly, if you are operating in Massachusetts, you should always inform all parties to a telephone call or conversation that you are recording, unless it is absolutely clear to everyone involved that you are recording ( i.e., the recording is not " secret '' ). Under Massachusetts 's wiretapping law, if a party to a conversation is aware that you are recording and does not want to be recorded, it is up to that person to leave the conversation. American Express must eliminate the {$24000.00} debt service permanently. The account is a corporate account and should have never been presented on my personal credit report. XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: The revision Amex Gold card had cancelled the enrollment button of {$100.00} annual airlines credits and can only be enrolled by custom service, which is obviously a scam to harm the customs who do not pay attention. Amex XXXX Card still offer the enrollment button so it's not a technical issue but a trap in my opinion. I reached out the Amex chat team agent about my concern but the agent refused to admit this problem and offer limited help in applying the credits to my account.

Consumer Complaint: I was involved in a car accident in XXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX. The car that I was renting was from XXXX and I was charged {$20000.00} to my American Express XXXX card for the price of the car. American Express has car rental insurance so I was assigned a person for the claim. I was informed on the recorded calls in XXXX ( possibly XX/XX/XXXX ) that were that they were backed up in their insurance claims department so that it was taking awhile to process. I expressed to this person that I was worried about the interest fees on my card so they transferred me back over to the customer service side of AMEX. While on the phone with this customer service representative, which was being recorded, I was informed that my interest charges would be waived during the duration of the claim process due to it taking a longer time than usual to process. I was then given a new claims representative in XXXX where I was asked for more information. I decided to call American Express in early XXXX to just get rid of my balance while the insurance process was finishing up with Amex & XXXX. I asked American Express to honor getting rid of the interest that they said that they would on the recorded call back in XXXX but they informed me after a month long investigation into that call ( On XX/XX/XXXX ) into that call that they would not honor it and I was given no explanation why. I was told by a representative during my call in early XXXX there there was a note in my file that stated that my insurance claim was processed wrong which delayed the process. I am 100 % positive that the representative said that it would be honored and felt safe because it was a recorded call. I have been with American Express for 7 years and have 2 cards under my name and I never had ONE late payment. I asked them was there anyway that I could get that call for myself to listen to but was denied. I'm sure the representative did not think that the claim would take as long as it did to process but that is of no fault to me and that promise shouldn't have been made if it could not have been upheld. I am asking that American Express reimburse me {$2600.00} of interest accrued that was promised of me from the customer service representative on our recorded call.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 I walked into XXXX XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, FL XXXX. I spoke with their salesman XXXX XXXX and told him I was looking for some custom wheels for my car. After sharing some photos with him we came to a decision on which wheels and rims would be appropriate as well as how long it would take to receive the wheels and tires, get them painted by his contractor. and mounted on my car ; he guaranteed me this process would take no longer than 10 days, I paid my deposit of {$3300.00}. From that point on i passed 20 days, then 30 days and Mr XXXX would either not return my call or tell me that their painter had made mistakes with the paint and that they were going to fix them. Every time I spoke to Mr XXXX he told me it would be another 4-5 days. At 40 days i told Mr XXXX that I no longer wanted the wheels because it had taken quadruple the time he promised, He refused and said that because they were being custom painted they would not refund me. I told him I would wait 5 more days and then I was going to file a dispute with American Express with whom I had placed the deposit. We surpassed the 5 days and the wheels were still not ready so I called American Express and asked them to file my first dispute ever. American Express told me that this would not be an issue since I had not received the merchandise and it had been far too long. I was given a temporary credit. Approximately 10 days later I called American Express to see if they had found in my favor permanently and I was told that they had. I have since purchased the wheels from a different company and they completed the transaction under the 14 days that they were promised in. Four days ago I received a text message from Mr XXXX telling me that American Express had found in XXXX XXXX favor and if I didnt pick up the rims then I would forfeit the deposit! I was furious and called American Express expecting that this was some type of trick. American Express would not acknowledge that they had already found in my favor so I asked how this was possible ; I asked to see what paperwork had been submitted or why no paperwork was ever requested from me to refute whatever bogus claims the merchant had made to allow for a finding for the merchant. This is wrong. the merchant did not provide the merchandise in the time promised. I would like my {$3300.00} returned to my account immediately and permanently. This merchant did not provide my completed merchandise in the timeframe they agreed to.
