Subissue: Problem with rewards from credit card
Consumer Complaint: I applied for and received the American Express Hilton Honors Credit Card in XX/XX/XXXX. What prompted me to apply for this rewards card was the advertised promotion to receive XXXX Hilton points after spending {$1000.00} within the first 3 months of opening the account, then another XXXX points when you spend an additional {$4000.00} within the first 6 months of opening the account. I met each of these thresholds on XXXX XX/XX/2021 and XXXX XX/XX/2021 respectively. After several weeks passed by I never received any of the bonus points. After reading all of the fine print buried in the offer terms I found this statement : " Bonus Points will be credited to your Hilton Honors account 8-12 weeks after each Threshold Amount has been met. '' I feel this is poor placement of this information because its not co-located with the promotional advertisement material. Next, I waited for the 8-12 week period to expire at which time I still hadn't received the bonus points and called customer service. I was told that the points would be awarded during the next billing cycle. That billing cycle completed on XXXX XX/XX/2021 and the points were still not awarded. I contacted customer service again and was told that my account had been denied for the promotional offer from the time I opened the account and that I was never even eligible for the offer. I had no idea. I was completely mislead for over 4 months by American Express. I am now cancelling the account and wanted to make others aware so that they are not duped like I was.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: Received a promotion through the mail from American Express on or about XX/XX/XXXX, offering 0 % interest for 12 months. I enrolled on XX/XX/XXXX. I received a an email on XX/XX/XXXX, confirming my enrollment. I had charged {$870.00} on XX/XX/XXXX and {$230.00} on XX/XX/XXXX thinking that I had 12 months to pay the balance without incurring interest. I had also made a payment on the account on XX/XX/XXXX of {$170.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX, I downloaded my billing statement dated XX/XX/XXXX. It contained a {$14.00} interest charge. When I called American Express, they told me I had enrolled a card ending in XXXX and charged the purchases and payment to my card ending in XXXX. I only have ONE American Express card and it ends in XXXX. Although American Express said the XXXX account was opened in XXXX of XXXX, I never received a card for that account! The promotional letter did not state a card that the promotion was for and because I only have one card I assumed the promotion was attached to that card. As far as I can tell, the XXXX account was opened by American Express without my knowledge or consent. That is illegal! At this point I have CANCELLED all American Express cards in my name. As a result, I now have an unexpected payment of {$930.00} in order to avoid future interest charges. I have scheduled payment to be made on XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: American Express closed eight of my personal and small business credit and charge cards with no notice. I was a card member for almost 10 years and never missed a payment, etc. No notice nor reason for the shutdown was given and they are not letting me talk with anyone on the phone. Additionally, no refund has been offered for the annual fees I paid for these cards, some as high as {$590.00} per year.

Consumer Complaint: American Express Credit Card Account ending in XXXX and Business Name : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Dispute Reference Number : XXXX Transaction Amount : {$530.00} I have submitted two dispute claims to American Express with proper and supportive documentation to prove that XXXX XXXX XXXX incorrectly billed me for services. XXXX keeps sending the same incorrect information to Amex who seems to take it for face value without realizing the discrepancies stated by this hotel. This results in Amex making me responsible for the amount in question twice. -In the American Express XXXX Statement, the hotel first stated that I checked in on XX/XX/XXXX and checked out on XX/XX/XXXX. That was their first false claim. I checked in on XX/XX/XXXX and checked out on XX/XX/XXXX. -The statement I submitted from XXXX clearly indicates that I made a reservation for 1 room for 1 person from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX. The room description is indicated in the copy I submitted and that this reservation was paid in advance as indicated in my XXXX XXXX credit card statement ( I redeemed my 1-night points as a valued customer of XXXX to get that fee ). - A second false claim submitted later by the hotel states the wrong customer name and that I stayed in their hotel a total of 4 nights : from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. The hotel must have made a mistake with the reservations and billed me for the wrong dates. - I have submitted documents in my second dispute that after staying the one night in XXXX, I went to another hotel that I had already booked in advance to join my party. I submitted the reservation from XXXX and the receipt from the other hotel stating the checked-in date as of XX/XX/XXXX and the check-out date as of XX/XX/XXXX. This was also paid in full in advance. I couldn't be in two places at the same time.

Consumer Complaint: I opened American Express Delta Skymiles credit card in XX/XX/2021 online. It was advertised that I will get XXXX bonus miles after spending $ XXXX in first 3 months. I spend it and then I called and asked when I will get my XXXX bonus miles. I was told that after 3 billing circles. After 4 billing circles I called again and I was told that because I had this card before many years ago I will not get my bonus miles. I asked representative to find more info. I told that I opened this card thru advertisement on XXXX and I didn't get any info that I will not get any bonus miles because I had this card before. I was told that they will investigate and I was asked to call back in 10 business days back. I called back after 12 business days back and was told that I will not get any bonus miles. And no other info is available. I would never open this account if I knew that no bonus miles
