Issue: Trouble using the card
Subissue: Trouble using the card to spend money in a store or online
Consumer Complaint: My American Express Serve account was locked or " permanently suspended '' due to " activity that violates the terms of the Consumer Use Agreement ''. I received an email informing me of this on XX/XX/2022, several days after the account was actually locked. The email gives a XXXX XXXX XXXX for me to write to if I have questions. I have called the XXXX line several times. Yesterday I was on hold for 30 minutes and gave up. Today I was on hold for an hour, briefly got through to someone and the line disconnected. I have no way to access the money that is in the account and seemingly, no one I can speak to about it. I feel like Amex has just robbed me of my money and I have no recourse. There was a little over {$200.00} in the account, money that I really, really need access to and I can't get it.

Consumer Complaint: There's no such thing as a late payment Because the account was paid in full the moment my credit card was accepted ( 15 USC 1602L ). Pursuant to 15 USC 1666b A creditor may not treat a payment on a credit card account under an open end consumer credit plan as late for any purpose, unless the creditor has adopted reasonable procedures designed to ensure that each periodic statement including the information required by section 1637 ( b ) of this title is mailed or delivered to the consumer not later than 21 days before the payment due date. I am the original creditor. I'm demanding deletion of all transactions on my consumer report. Remember, I am the original creditor. Pursuant 15 USC 1666b the following account XXXX is an authorization of approval of an extension of credit that is deprived from my credit card which is my social security card and has to be removed according to federal law.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: I took part in a promotional solicitation offer by Amex to upgrade my credit card product ( paying an additional annual fee ). This was an offer to try a more premium card in exchange for some points. After trying the card for nearly a year, I decided to downgrade back to my original card. Amex then contacted me and removed the points awarded from the promotional offer. I was told that because I did not re-up on the annual fee for another year, they were retroactively removing points awarded 9 months ago. This seems like a " have it both ways '' situation on their part. I was an honest participant in their offer, and decided the product wasn't for me. They then penalized me for it using fine print terms I wasn't even aware of. XX/XX/21 : Amex emails me offering me XXXX Membership Rewards points for upgrade from Amex Everyday card ( no annual fee product that I have ) to Amex Every Preferred card ( {$95.00} annual fee ). The promotional offer requires that I spend {$2000.00} within 3 months. XX/XX/21 : Amex sends a reminder email about their offer XX/XX/21 : I accept the Amex upgrade offer XX/XX/21 : I spend {$4400.00} on the card, fulfilling the term of the offer XX/XX/21 : Amex emails me confirming I fulfilled the terms of the offer and awarding me the XXXX points. XX/XX/21 : I downgrade the product back to my original card ( Amex Everyday, no annual fee ). I tried their product for a lengthy period of time and determined that I didn't get the additional value advertised to be worth it. XX/XX/21 : Amex emails me that they have deducted the XXXX points from my account

Consumer Complaint: I was induced to apply for and purchase an American Express Gold XXXX credit card by an Amex employee who promised that I would be able to use the Gold card with a temporary/instant number, which was a lie and two charges were declined. The merchant told me personally that no charges went through. I want Amex to cancel the Gold Card, not charge/refund the annual fee, and rescind the hard credit inquiry. Basically reset to before Amex induced me to apply for the card. Amex refuses to do so and takes no responsibility for its misrepresentations and harm to my credit rating.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: It has come to my attention that AMERICAN EXPRESS has denied me of credit. I would like to first put you on notice that I, a NATURAL PERSON, CREDITOR, and APPLICANT am aware that the denial letter given is an adverse action pursuant to 15 USC 1691 ( d ) ( 6 ). As the Original Creditor I initiated the consumer credit transaction using my credit card pursuant to 15 USC 1602 ( L ) making AMERICAN EXPRESS an assignee pursuant to 15 USC 1691a ( e ). I DID NOT fill out a Loan Application because banks can not loan money pursuant to 12 USC 1431. This denial letter is identified as a deceptive form pursuant to 15 USC 1692j. I DID NOT benefit from the consumer credit transaction, but I was injured instead. You pulled my XXXX credit file with a hard inquiry which means AMERICAN EXPRESS benefitted from the transaction. I am the one who extended credit through the credit application. AMERICAN EXPRESS used my credit information to get paid when I should have benefitted as well. It shall be unlawful for any creditor to discriminate against any applicant, with such respect to ANY aspect of a credit transaction as Congress states pursuant to 15 USC 1691 ( a ). No credit card shall be issued except in response to a request or application thereof says Congress pursuant to 15 USC 1642. Pursuant to 12 CFR 202.9 ( b ) ( 2 ) Statement of specific reasons. The statement of reasons for adverse action required by paragraph ( a ) ( 2 ) ( i ) of this section must be specific and indicate the principal reason ( s ) for the adverse action. Statements that the adverse action was based on the creditor 's internal standards or policies or that the applicant, joint applicant, or similar party failed to achieve a qualifying score on the creditor 's credit scoring system are insufficient. AMERICAN EXPRESS is civilly liable for violations of TILA pursuant to 15 USC 1640. AMERICAN EXPRESS is civilly liable for violations of ECOA pursuant to 15 USC 1691e. I DEMAND the credit applied for to be approved and to operate the account in open ended status. I demand my card be mailed to the location information provided.
