Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: I applied and received American Express credit card in XX/XX/2022. The promotional offer on card was 0 % interest for 15 months. As soon as I received card, I called customer service and confirmed that I had interest free card for 15 months. The representative confirmed that I did, but when I checked my statements after couple of months, I found out that I was being charged interest rate. I called in XX/XX/XXXX to discuss this matter but I was told that my card offer was declined. Amex never informed me about it by email, paper mail or phone and infact, they continued to assert that my card did not have promotional offer. I filed the official complain and I was asked to wait for 4-6 weeks. I called again in end of XXXX but I was told to wait for couple of days. I called again on XXXX XXXX and I was told to wait for 2 more weeks and the issue is not yet addressed. There are three facts of this complain : 1. I was offered a promotional offer of 0 % interest and was confirmed by AMEX on phone. 2. I was told my offer was declined later, but I was not informed about it. 3. Amex continued to charge interest for three months until I found out about it.

Consumer Complaint: This is an " American Express '' Gift Card that was given by the employer as a reward for an amount of {$2500.00} Unfortunately, American Express does not allow for a security code that I can create to protect the card information in case if it got compromised. I just noticed online transactions when I logged in to the GiftCard web page that I didn't make ( from XXXX, XXXX... ) when I called American Express for resolution, they said that I can not dispute charges on an American Express card, they deffer me to XXXX so I can make my request to dispute those charges hoping that they will reimburse those amounts to the gift card then I can call American Express and ask them to transfer the fund to another new card and mail it to me!!! I am pretty confident that I never handed the gift card manually and I used it myself at the XXXX at the stores. So either American Express got hacked where the gift card number ended up in the wrong hands making unauthorized charges or maybe one of those stores where I made purchases at the POS they got hacked and the gift card number was exposed somehow, but regardless, I feel that American Express as a big company should do better and ensure or give the option for these gift cards to be protected by a PIN number just in case if the card got lost or compromise, it can't be used so easily!!!

Consumer Complaint: Account was charged off and I paid Amex directly. I was told that once paid account would be deleted from credit report. Over the years I didn't realize that it was still showing and as a negative account. Called them and was told there's nothing they can do I have to wait for it to fall off ny report. So basically they lied for me to make the payment then didn't keep up with their end of the bargain

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: You never received your bill or did not know a payment was due
Consumer Complaint: If the account was charged-off XX/XX/XXXX at an alleged one-hundred twenty days past-due, why is there an alleged past-due amount of XXXX dollars out of a total balance of XXXX as of XXXX XX/XX/XXXX? It would appear American Express is billing me as though monthly charges and future payments are required on my account. It would appear they are additionally supplying informatoin regarding monthly payment history for the account that is inaccurate/unverifiable because even if I were to PAY the allaged outsanding amount of XXXX, dollars, American Express has already made clear " they are no longer providing statements because the account is charged-off. '' Jackson v. Experian Information Systems LLC, No. 18-CV-271, 2019 WL 179570 ( M.D. Ga. XXXX XXXX XXXX ) ] made clear that a firm can not provide information to the CRAs that would be misleading if/when another potential creditor reviews my credit file. The advancement of payment delinquency by 30 days past-due, ie { 30, 60, 90 120, ..., N } implies that future monthly payments continue to exist for an allegedly charged-off account. It would appear to me that American Express is in violation of the portion of the FCRA applicable to persons who furnish credit information to credit reporting agencies, 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ( b ).

Consumer Complaint: American Express wrongfully charged-off an account. They did not provide me with current monthly statements as required under Regulation Z / TILA from XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX at which point they charged the account off. They admit not doing such and being aware of the issue. The debt collection agencies they hired returned the debt to American Express citing my claims of unfair and unlawful practices. Despite the account being charged-off, American Express began reporting the account " pays as agreed. '' to the CRAs from XX/XX/XXXX thru XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX they began to report the account delinquent. I have contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX in-writing on numerous occasions, yet no one has provided me ANY information regarding alleged payment arrangements I've entered into showing that I have agreed to pay the alleged debt on account that was charged-off due to their own contributory negligence. They are continuing to report a status for the account that is inaccurate and unverifiable. And, if they claim under the card agreement that I am liable for the debt, it is not the same as any agreement regarding a charged-off account because they now consider the account to be a loss. Either it is a loss and as such the extent of reporting to the CRAs is limited to the balance and the outstanding amount PER the charge-off. It is not a re-aging of the debt with history that reports future monthly payment obligations or that shows at some point I began paying on the debt circa XX/XX/XXXX. Despite claims by American Express to the CFPB that the account " was charged off XXXX XX/XX/XXXX, '' the information they have been furnishing for the past nine ( 9 ) months indicates the account is closed -- there are no charge-off annotations. That is the epitome of providing false and/or misleading statements to the CFPB, and a charged-off account that American Express is reporting to the CRAs as an account with a simple payment past-due status is a violation of 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ( b ). Since they are collecting on this allegedly charged-off debt using their own in-house collection agency, they have equally violated 15 U.S.C. 1692e & 1692f because they have used false, deceptive, and misleading representation or means in connection with the collection of this alleged debt. It is worth mentioning that American Express has repeatedly rejected my requests for reasonable accommodations under Section 504, and Section 1557 of the ADA. American Express can not claim they were " unaware '' I was considered XXXX because I have provided multiple statements to them attesting both to long-COVID. They have also received odcumentation from me from a XXXX XXXX that shows a diagnoses of XXXX with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX, and medical publications explaing how that condition can worsen during periods of long-COVID. Finally, they have been made aware and provided with a copy of the ADA complaint that was filed with the United States Department of Justice. Therefore, they have knowingly and willfully engaged in practices that discriminate against indviduals with documented XXXX, by engaging in unlwful, unfair, and abusive practices that are patently prohibited under federal law.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, my wife used her additional card ( ending in XXXX ) on my XXXX XXXX XXXX account to make a purchase of {$790.00} using XXXX XXXX with the merchant " XXXX ''. It is for an XXXX XXXX mini. The merchant has already shipped the XXXX on-time, and the recipient has already received the XXXX and started using it. However, after more than 2 weeks later, we are still unable to see the transaction in the Amex Mobile app nor Amex website. We have contacted the merchant on XXXX, and the merchant confirmed that they have received payment. However, we are still not yet charged for this transaction. This caused 2 issues for me : 1/ This caused me to worry that Amex may suddenly come back and charge me out of the blue, months or years down the road, causing significant stress. I would like to have a closure on this issue as soon as possible while memory is still fresh, instead of keeping this issue in the back of my mind indefinitely. 2/ This billing error caused me to miss the Amex " Plan It '' no-fee promotion that ended in XXXX. Had Amex posted the transaction on-time, I would have been eligible for the Plan It feature and I would have been able to pay this charge in installments without any interest.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I logged in to AMEXs website to check the status of my XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX complaint which I hadn't heard about in months. AMEX claims they notified me, but they sure did make it hard or impossible to find any information they claimed to have sent me. I saw that they had closed the case in XXXX XXXX 's favor, but I couldn't see any documentation that shows what evidence they provided. So I chatted in to find out what evidence was provided. The rep said they couldnt see any evidence. So this looks like AMEX is purposefully protecting XXXX XXXX. I asked to reopen the case and the rep did. I also told the rep I have image evidence of my claim. I uploaded those images. The rep said he reopened the case and that AMEX would review the images and case within 48 hours. On XX/XX/XXXX when I logged in to AMEX, I saw that the case had been closed again and that the reason was that I couldnt open a new case for the same transaction if it had been closed past 30 days. I only found out that the case was closed 1 day ago because of their poor or nonexistent notification. On XX/XX/XXXX I spoke with a series of reps who admitted the XX/XX/XXXX rep lied, but they couldnt do anything about it. They offered a measly {$10.00} credit after I asked for a full reimbursement of the original {$140.00} charge. Im now stuck with a defective pair of shoes that gives me blisters and Im still out of pocket {$130.00}. The original claim was for defective shoes. I can provide CFPB the images if needed. XXXX XXXX has been no help in this process, hence why I reached out to AMEX.
