Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX I got a call from American express serve fraud department saying that someone tried using my card info at the XXXX in the XXXX. I usually don't answer phone calls that aren't in my contact but the caller ID showed up as American expresses phone number that appears on the back of my card so I answered they said my whole name and everything. The next day {$300.00} was taken out of my account ( {$290.00} for the actual transaction and XXXX for the pick up XXXX fee ) and I was completely locked out of my account. When I realized I was locked out I called the same number that was on the back of my card to get it unlocked and once it was unlocked I saw a transaction for a XXXX pick up that wasn't addressed to me or anybody I know. It was addressed to someone in Virginia. I called back and set up a dispute, not even a whole day later I get an email saying my dispute was denied so I appealed at least 2 more times the both got denied so I took my loss thinking someone hacked my account. Fast forward to XX/XX/XXXX I get a call from American express about the same issue and them saying that they were going to credit my dispute etc so I thought that was the end of that until I got locked out my account again so I immediately call the number that appears on the back of my card that called me earlier and they tell me to reset my password which I tried and when I got back onto my account almost {$600.00} two separate tansactions one being {$370.00} and another being {$200.00} was taken out of my account and is transferred to another amex account that I don't have/ know the person and they are also from Virginia XXXX note both people that I've talked to asked me the same information the the " official '' amex asked me. I went and tried to dispute that I also got denied but both times they never disclosed why I got denied and if I wanted to know why I'd have to write them a physical letter and wait. I ca n't drive nor do I have the materials/ money for it since the people who did this drained my bank account twice. A whole months worth of money gone. I ended up finding the CEO of American expresses email and sent him a message about the situation, I got transferred to a woman from the executive office and explained the whole story, she said that Serve was a collaboration between American express and another company and that she would ask the company why I got denied and why they wouldn't credit me back my money, I get a call a day before thanking. She tells me that they won't credit me because I gave what I thought to believe was The fraud department my information ( which they ask the same information when you call anyway ) and that it would fall under the category as a scam. I don't get why it would if they had the same number last time I checked you can't mask a number but you can mask a caller ID. I still have the call logs to prove it. When I called Amex and asked if someone called on these specific dates they just said " No we record all calls for safety procedures " so I'm thinking hmm someone there is using the same script, phone number and caller ID but I'm at fault? How would I have prevented that when they ask me my card information when I call them so when I get a call I think it's normal? It doesn't make sense.

Consumer Complaint: I booked a 3 day trip with American Express travel - booking confirmation # XXXX. AMEX XXXX 's stated costs for the trip were as follows : Total Trip Cost : {$600.00} - Room for XXXX nights : {$380.00} - Additional property fees : {$150.00} ( resort fees are due and payable at the resort! ) - Tax on the Room : {$68.00} AMEX billed the entire amount of {$600.00} - which included fees that were due and payable at the resort ( {$150.00} ). AMEX tried to suggest that the actual costs were : Room for XXXX nights : {$380.00} Estimated taxes and fees : {$220.00} Additional property fees : {$150.00} Total cost using AMEX logic : {$760.00} AMEX is flat out wrong. I confirmed with the XXXX hotel that the {$68.00} represents the actual taxes and fees for rooms. The {$220.00} in estimated taxes and fees includes the {$150.00} resort fees and taxes- which are payable directly to the hotel ( and should not have been charged by AMEX ). AMEX made a simple error and double charged me for taxes and fees that were also then collected by the hotel.

Consumer Complaint: American Express. Multiple phone calls every day to myself and father who has no relation to the account. I have no idea how they even got his cell phone number. I've tried asking them to stop contacting me as well as blocking the phone number but they just call from new ones. I'm working with a debt settlement company to settle the debt and they know that but continue to blow up my phone. There is too many phone calls to list. I had to download a call blocker app and pay a monthly membership fee just so I could get a break from all the calls but somehow they're getting through it now.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Consumer Complaint: I am a member of the XXXX XXXX XXXX. I write to lodge a complaint against American Express for misleading advertising, fraud, equitable estoppel, and violations of the SCRA and MLA. In XXXX, I found out that American Express waivers the {$700.00} fee for military personal. I reviewed their official policy and from other military personnel. It all left a strong impression that XXXX XXXX, who were on Active Orders, were entitled to waiver of the fee. I relied upon this advertising when I chose to apply for the credit card. I was approved XXXX XXXX XXXX I attempted my first MLA and SCRA applications in XXXX XXXX for my Active orders lasting from XXXX to XXXX. I sent in my Orders. I follow-up midXXXX XXXX to be informed that my application was never received. I filled out another application for military benefits in midXXXX. Additionally, the Amex Special Team did the application for me and told me AmEx would reach out and affirmatively inform me of their decision in XXXX weeks. On XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX, while on XXXX XXXX orders, I followed up against and I was informed they never received an application. I applied again and sent them my Orders, while being on active Orders. They told me again to apply again. I applied against XXXX XXXX XXXX On XXXX XXXX XXXX I followed up and was informed that I needed to apply again, which I did. I was told to wait until XXXX for a response from AmEx. I never received a follow-up. My Orders were completed XXXX XXXX XXXX. I inquired again to AmEx on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX to be informed that needed to apply once again and weight XXXX weeks. AmEx successfully avoided my request until my Orders expired, so they would have the ability to deny the fee waiver. After which, my applications started to seem to move. I waited. I contacted American Express on XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX, who informed me that " We have processed your request for [ MLA & SCRA ], [ payment ] will be reflected in your account within 24-48 hours. No such request, waiver, or correspondence was ever reflected in my account within 24-48 hours. This was a lie. I contacted AmEx today to ask the whereabouts of my payment and was informed they never received an application from me. I applied again on XXXX XXXX XXXX, and uploaded all my Orders again. When I told the agent the reference number she gave was invalid, she aburbly ended the chat. I contacted them again and was referred to AmEx 's Special Team. They did my application, and said the DoD would be in contact with me. The DoD will tell them I am not on Active Orders, and AmEx will use it to reject the fee waiver officially. The Special Team lady told me that the benefit only covered Active, Reserves, but not XXXX XXXX, even those who American Express purposefully engaged in deceptive practices, which targeted the XXXX XXXX XXXX members. Upon their advertisements, I relied upon them to my own determinant.
