Consumer Complaint: I filed my taxes with XXXX XXXX and decided to receive my refund on an American Express serve card. I have had problem after problem with this card. I tried to go to a bank to take my money off of the card but it said not authorized. I tried to pay a bill but the company does not accept the card as man companies does not accept American Express. I called the company which is horrible to get anybody on the phone and was told I can take my money off the card at any XXXX location. I went to XXXX and was told the cards have not been allowing people to take their money off. The XXXX worker told me it works for some people but for some it I doesnt. I swiped my card and the transaction would not go through. After trying twice I then left and called the card company and was told my account was locked due to fraudulent activity for no reason. I had to wait on hold for an hour and a half for representative to get on the phone and ask two questions and unlock my card. This is by far the worst card I have ever had to deal with. I will never again use this card once my money is withdrawn and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2022 Hello I received a deposit from the XXXX into my Amex bank account which Ive had over 11 years without any fraud or any violations ever. My deposit was sent to them and all of sudden they locked my account I called and they said they were going to verify my info and release funds They later said account was closed for good and without good reason. I sent proof of ownership of both the business and XXXX even the approval letter and deposit info shown on the account to no avail. My car was repossessed due to that being my primary bank and my funds were locked inside My bills were all ruined and Id never been late before And I still do not have my XXXX nor have they returned it back to XXXX to be reissued to me I simply need help I am exhausted and in complete shock and disgust with how this had been handled. With no regard for the stress that I absolutely did not deserve the funds were to expand and enhance my business and they abruptly took and closed my account and ruined my credit all in the same effort for no reason. My social security number .. name and address all match identically to the XXXX information when deposited.. There was not one reason to close my account nor hold my XXXX i have all documents and approval letter and deposit info sent from XXXX also and also the actual document of it being processed

Consumer Complaint: I had booked a trip with a travel agency ( XXXX ) for a hot air balloon ride in XXXX. The trip cost included- 1. Pick up and drop to the hotel. They would pick us up from our hotel, take us to the balloon ride spot and then drop us to our hotel 2. One hour balloon ride The trip operator did not pick us up or drop us from the hotel. Instead we had to arrange our own ground transportation. The balloon ride lasted 25 mins instead of the 1 hour advertised. I tried to resolve this with my credit card company ( AMEX, with which I had booked the trip ) and with the tour agency but my request for refund was rejected.

Consumer Complaint: Dear Amex Staff : Thank you for your reply to my previous claim XXXX about my historic and worldwide issue regarding my correct member status. But your actions regarding this issue do not reflect upon your company 's vision " Provide the worlds best customer experience every day. Nor also " WE DO WHAT'S RIGHT, Customers choose us because they trust our brand and people. We earn that trust by ensuring everything we do is reliable, consistent, and with the highest level of integrity. As you previously noted, I am a member of American Express since 2000, and not just an XXXX member, because as previously noted, you define yourself as a Worldwide company, and your charter even says it clearly. I am not requesting American Express ( Worldwide, not XXXX, nor the United States where I live now ) to upgrade me to be a Centurion status member, because you already gave me that status more than a decade ago, but I am requesting to make things right and gave me back my status, you already invited me and I paid several thousand dollars yearly again, during more than a decade. You, Worldwide Amex even sent me gifts and an honorable mention after being a Centurion member for ten years, what is wrong, and disrespectful is to downgrade a member, so again, you say the following : " WE RESPECT PEOPLE, We are a diverse and inclusive company, and serve diverse customers. We believe we are a better company when each of us feels included, valued, and able to trust colleagues who respect each of us for who we are and what we contribute to our collective success and you can not ask me to address my concern to a country I left exactly because of lack of respect for human basic values, like for example, stealing vaccines during the pandemic increasing the death toll, you should answer following XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX, your founders, both Americans, you are accountable as a brand, or you say that in your core values. I am requesting you do what is right, I understand perfectly that you would want to do what is right, and you can not truly believe you can " downgrade '' a client, it is just unacceptable. I am attaching this time proof I am already a Centurion member ( although for some mistake on your part, you do not have records of it ), the same way you can not remove my degree, or any other honors I have from other Institutions like I think American Express is after more than two hundred years almost of being founded. More than that, I am now established in the United States, and the core values of the country do not allow to " downgrade '' people, here you do not even say " former President '', you say, President, in my view, no one should, and American Express is doing this with me as a client and member since 2000 ( As you mentioned in your previous letter, so you acknowledge that even though in 2000 I was in XXXX, American Express knows anyway I was a member, and I was a Centurion member ). You will have now the information to know what I am saying, you already invited me and you already charged me for at least more than a decade a centurion membership, you should correct this and give me back my centurion status.

I called American Express stating I had a family emergency and I believe I made my XXXX payment on time I see a late fee in my XXXX statement and I was for the late fee to be waived. American Express did not help me and told me their system is not allowing them. Consumer Complaint: In correspondence to the adverse action letter I received from AMERICAN EXPRESS on XX/XX/XXXXXXXX XXXX in regards to my Application for their platinum card for the purpose of personal, family, or household use. REF : XXXX American Express sent me and adverse action letter stating the reason of why they denied me on the public side which is the credit score which is not regulated by the SEC , OCC , or the Constitution. Americans Express did not explained to me the factors their underwriters used to make their decision based on law on the private side nor did they explain to me that they had a right to deny my application, Pursuant to 18 u.s.c 242 it is unlawful to to use the color of law to deprivate someone of their rights. American Express I am aware that my application is a promissory note which turns into cash or in banking terms floating rate notes that your bank sell and trade on pursuant to 12 u.s.c 1813L ( 1 ). My application is also a security pursuant to 31 cfr 357.2, 15 u.s.c 78c ( a ) ( 10 ) which should also be the collateral for the amount of the credit card pursuant to 7 cfr 4279.202 the security belongs to me the holder in due course since I issued it. At this points American Express is stealing my security which is securities fraud pursuant to 17 cfr 240.10b-5, and breach of fiduciary duties pursuant to 17 cfr 205.2 for not not doing their job as a XXXX contact the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX mellon who is your trustee and who should know where the security is from this application I would my credit card within 5 days unless your underwriters can explain why they didn't purchase the security pursuant to 15 U.S.C 77b which is also explained how it is supposed to move section 16 part of the federal reserve act of 1933. XXXX Dear, ( CFO ) XXXX XXXX XXXX AMERICAN EXPRESS is discriminating against me and you AMERICAN EXPRESS are in violation of the fair credit reporting act. I the consumer and natural person was discriminated against. Adverse action against a consumer is AGAINST THE LAW according to the equal credit opportunity act which is codified in 12 CFR 202.16 and pursuant to civil liability under 12 CFR 229.21. You are subject to criminally liability for violating 12 CFR 1002.2 as I have proof that I was discriminated against by AMERICAN EXPRESS due to the response I received. AMERICAN EXPRESS is in violation of 12 CFR 226.12, 12 CFR 202.2 and 12 CFR 1002 because I the consumer, made an application in good faith and was discriminated against. Further more, because my social security number ( credit card ) was used and I received no benefit. This is proof of fraudulent activity ( unauthorized use of credit card ) on behalf of AMERICAN EXPRESS. I AM REQUESTING FOR A OPEN-END CONSUMER CREDIT CARD ( 12 CFR 1026.12 ) with maximum allowable by applicable law ( 12 CFR 1026.5 ). Consumer Complaint: Our American Express is being billed multiple recurring charges for various streaming services we did not sign up for. Despite attempting to cancel directly with the merchant, they made it impossible- asking for account number, and when wed say we have no account number- theyd do nothing, so the recurring charges kept being billed. I contacted American Express, asking them to cancel the card and to ensure no more recurring charges would happen. I continued to see recurring charges. I contacted them XXXX times on this- and they continue not doing anything and essentially saying they will do nothing and Ill have to live with the recurring charges. This is not putting the consumer first. Their stance has been even if its a charge you never signed up for, were not going to ensure its not charged to you. Because despite cancelling the card- we continue getting billed recurring charges! Ive spoken to a supervisor there on about my fifth contact with them and continue to have XXXX resolution. Furthermore, I asked that a portion of my {$95.00} annual fee just paid in XXXX be refunded if I choose to cancel my American Express account altogether and they say they will not. So again, its consumer abuse as expectations in paying the {$95.00} fee is to have helpful customer services but despite reaching out to them XXXX times, they continue to do nothing. Thus- I should not pay {$95.00} for inadequate service or i wouldve signed up for a card with no fee if I knew the service would be non existent. If I cancel the card now, they should pro rate my annual fee and refund me. The {$95.00} is for an annual fee, not a XXXX month fee.

Consumer Complaint: Issue with American Express and XXXX XXXX XXXX. Specifically, there overreach of removing funds from our XXXX account based on a mis-keyed web credit card payment for which we never received the funds. One of our larger clients office managers went to our website on XX/XX/2022, to use our after-hours online bill payment system. She was trying to pay an invoice for {$720.00}. By mistake she mis-keyed the amount as {$72000.00} and pressed the accept button. She closed the web payment system and marked the invoice paid. On XX/XX/2022, at XXXX I received a call from an individual from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX He described himself as a " fraud investigator ''. After confirming his identity, he asked me if a charge for {$72000.00} was valid. I told him that it was not and was most likely a mis -key. He told me that XXXX would be holding the charge and would be voiding it. He stated that no further action was required on my part. The only phone number that he left was a " XXXX phone number '' which he does not answer. The Vice president of my customer 's company called a day later and said that the charge of {$72000.00} was showing on their Amex account and he wanted to make sure it was removed or credited. At around the same time a charge from XXXX was put through on our account for {$2700.00}. We however never, I repeat never received the {$72000.00} in our account. So, XXXX debited our account but never credited us for the {$72000.00} mis-key. The ensuing conversations with XXXX were ridiculous. They refused to void or return the withdrawal from our account. They made our web processor process a refund, even though we never received the payment, and when we contacted a supervisor from Amex to speak to them regarding the issue, they told the Amex. supervisor " how do I know that you are really from Amex. Are you kidding me! Subsequent contact with XXXX proved to be fruitless. We filed a complaint with the FTC ( report # XXXX ) no response was received. XXXX is blaming the issue on American Express. So we sent a complaint to the CEO and Executive office 's of American Express. They never responded. We are asking that American Express through XXXX immediately return the withdrawal to us. Thank You.

Consumer Complaint: I have an American Express card that is shared with my partner, XXXX. XXXX has used this card for XXXX purchases in the past. Over the last several months, we have noticed charges for " XXXX XXXX Downloads ''. The amounts for these charges have varied over the past year when they happen. The bulk of them have been accompanied with a reverse charge at a later date, but not universally until the last several months. American Express links in their online statement to XXXX, but with insufficient detail to reach the transaction in question. On the XXXX side of the equation, XXXX disclaims any knowledge about these charges and is unable to locate anything about them in their system. XXXX 's card number has been compromised at least once in the last year requiring a new card to be issued. American express did not require any repayment of the suspicious charges. I am concerned that these unexpected charges that can not be confirmed by XXXX are actually a third party spoofing XXXX rather than XXXX itself. In an attempt to get further information after no resolution over chat, I submitted a charge reversal for XXXX of these charges ( charge transaction date XX/XX/2023 ). American Express responded on XX/XX/XXXX ( ref # XXXX ) that they would begin investigating the issue. American Express responded on XX/XX/XXXX ( same ref # ) that they've closed the dispute. " We gthered the attached documentation we needed to explained this charge, and we've determined you're responsible for the amount in question ''.

Consumer Complaint: The American Express platinum credit card charges and annual fee. You receive certain benefits as part of the fee. One of them is access to the XXXX XXXX at airports. Until XXXX, they never charged a fee for a guest. Now they do. However, there was no mention of a new fee when they charged me in XXXX for my annual fee. This is misleading, deceitful and had I known, I would not have tripped for this year. They will not refund my fees nor will they answer my discussions via chat, despite listing it as a customer contact channel.
