Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX perpetrated and gave false information to the credit card company American Express. He was suppose to mentor & assist me with establishing business credit, business knowledge, & passive income opportunities through companies that he sets up as corporate shelf businesses. XXXX instead used all of my personal information to apply for 4 American Express cards all with using my name, social, ID, address, under a business that he created & a EIN he applied for through the IRS. I was not aware that he was going to manipulate me & use me to verify & validate the 4 cards that he applied for. I was not, at the time, aware that he was applying for these cards until after they arrived at my home. When I inquired about them he assured me it was to help build my business credit profile. However, not knowing about these business strategies & trusting XXXX was going to provide me with the knowledge & mentoring he had said he would provide I cooperated & gave him the card information. I also assisted him at the beginning of receiving the cards verifying the initial charges in order for him to have access to the ability to charge. Unbeknownst to me, this was all his calculated plan to manipulate my name, my credit score & rating, & my vunerability with these business situations. Long story short, XXXX received all the information he needed to have access to the cards and I never received anything that he said, promised or assured he would provide. When attempting to get answers from him, instead I got very little responses, very little communication, & empty promises of how he would pay for & fix this issue. Instead I have received bills from American Express, collection notices from the company American Express outsourced the accounts to & my credit scores decreased astronomically because of this fraudulent behavior on his part. The total charges that he charged on these 4 cards totaled {$9100.00}. I made no charges on these cards, I have no knowledge of what was charged & I never received any products, merchandise, compensation, rewards, or services from XXXX XXXX using these cards. A police report has been filed, Temp report # XXXX Official case # XXXX with the XXXX Police Department. I am filing this report & this complaint in order for this information & these accounts to be removed from my credit report IMMEDIATELY on the account of FRAUD. XXXX, I'm quite sure, has done this to other people that I'm not aware of but I know how comfortable he was with manipulating me I'm not the first or the last person he will do this to. He has several business names, phone numbers, addresses, EIN numbers, & aliases that he operates under or with. I'm not aware of all of them. However, I'm sure if an investigation is performed I'm sure these fraudulent behaviors will surface. Some of the companies he works under & his XXXX channels are in his own personal name, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Again, I am demanding this is removed from my credit report and my credit scores & information is restored back to in good standing. I did attempt to reach out to American Express fraud department however, they said I had to contact the collection company XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have contacted this company & they have frozen the account pending information from American Express to be sent out for me to verify & validate all the charges. This has been over 2 months ago and I have yet to receive this information they have apparently requested.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: I pulled my credit report and it showed an Amex business account with an outstanding balance. I contacted them and found out that this outstanding balance was created by a charge made that I did not authorize or make. Charge : XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX - {$1800.00} Date XX/XX/XXXX Case ID # XXXX - Card Type : XXXX XXXX XXXX Preferred Guest I spoke with the disputes department who advised me to file a police report for the fraud and send them a letter to dispute the charge with a copy of the police report. I did so on XX/XX/XXXX. I called in last week to check on the status and was told that the case was closed and that they " Validated '' the charge and thus I was responsible for the amount. I asked how they verified the charge and if they had any information I could forward to the police investigator. They would not answer my questions about how they verified the charge only that they did. I am seeking help with resolving this matter as I do not agree that I should be responsible to pay for a charge I did not make. Thank you for your help.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: I was buying airline tickets on XXXX XXXX webiste on XX/XX/XXXX. When i was ready to pay an offer came through on the web page that if i apply for the american express delta skymiles credit card i would get {$400.00} off as statement credit after spending {$2000.00} dollars in the next 6 months. I went ahead and applied for the card. I got approved instantly. I used that card to make several purchases upwards of {$8000.00} over next few months and i met all the requiremnts for getting the bonus of {$400.00}. I did not see the statement credit after 3 months of meeting all requirements. So i called Amex and they said that the bonus offer was denied even through credit card was approved by the acquisitions team without giving me a reason. Hence i will not get the bonus. I was not sent any communciation regarding this. I see this an an unfair marketing practice where amex lures in the customer, makes them use their card and does not even tell them if they were denied the offer they actually signed up for. The card should not have been approved if they were not willing to honor the bonus. There should have been a formal letter sent to me that this was denied. If amex has an issue with my credit history they should not ahve approved me for the card. Amex is engaging is cheating and unfair practices and luring in poor consumers like me. I started googling the same to understand if others have been cheated and it seems this is a common practice for amex. Of course, they ask us to look in the fine print. I have an excellent credit score and the only card i closed with amex was in XXXX because it was a student card that had hardly any benefits.

Consumer Complaint: American Express keeps trying to contact me all hours of the day mostly very early XXXX. It upsets me because they use numbers to where I have close family or friends or where my kids are in college and it scares me and I answer and there is always a delayed response which scares me to find out it is them. Why don't they have to call on XXXX # and it identifies the company name? Should be mandatory!

Consumer Complaint: The reason for my complaint is I have several AMEX cards, a combination of business and personal. Since I have been a cardholder with AMEX, I have an excellent payment history across the board with all the cards that I have with them. Secondly, I reached out to them requesting a credit limit increase on 3 personal credit cards only. AMEX sending information as if I was trying to purchase a home or apply for a mortgage. In regard to demanding documents if you were trying to buy a house vs a credit limit increase on a credit card. I have numerous other credit cards with major banks such as XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX etc. None of them ever requested documentation as if I was buying a home as AMEX did. Furthermore, as stated I wanted to inquiry about credit limit increases on American Express XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX America Express Cash Preferred XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX American Express Hilton Honors Surpass XXXX XXXX XXXX. Between these 3 credit cards I have a total credit limit of {$18000.00}. Why did AMEX send me a response as if I requested credit limit increases on business credit cards that I have with them. Which I did not. Moving forward, I know AMEX is a business/company and I have limited or little rights as a cardholder because they can change rules or policy on the fly. But this is totally ridiculous for them to act like I am applying for a mortgage vs a credit line increase on 2 cards with XXXX limits each and another with XXXX.
